Loved the ambience! There's something about it that just puts you in a tranquil but melancholic state and that little choice midway gave it a sense of duty and courage to it all.
The astronaut is cute and the bg art really sells the idea of the scale of things. The mechanics provided the right amount of challenge I feel and the floating fuel tanks saved it from taking the focus away from the theme and story.
I enjoyed it a lot! :)
I appreciate the review, glad to hear the game had the intended effect!
that was fun! really nice idea, not hard to figure out and pretty sweet all in all. good job!
Cool game with chill vibes
This was pretty neat. I kind of liked the graphics, though I thought it was a bit weird how all of them had different resolutions, sometimes even within the same sprite (the space station), but it wasn't too distracting.
I'm not sure if it's the game's intention, but right now, by far the safest way to play is to move very slowly, which felt a little boring at times. Maybe adding something like an oxygen supply to add a timer might feel more intersting. Wouldn't even have to be very tight, just something to incentivize not going as slow as possible. Then again, the music is super chill and maybe it's just the best to keep the gameplay chill as well.
Yeah, I had some issues with the sprite sizing and it made some of them blurrier than others. I agree the gameplay feels slow-paced, and that was sort of intentional. I wanted to make a super chill game that wasn't really difficult or frustrating, which is why the asteroids are more or less ignorable and the movement is so loose and flowy. I was considering adding an air meter, but I liked being able to float around screen for a while, and I never wanted your character to die, so if you run out of fuel you just float around aimlessly. I appreciate the comment and will keep your comments in mind!
Very fair. The game does give a very chill vibe, so I think you accomplished that goal very well. Thinking about it a bit more, I think it might be the way you introduce spacewalking as one of the most dangerous activities humans can face or something like that. It sets up some expectations for the game that it doesn't deliver. I figure you probably did this to tie in with the courage theme, but maybe changing that line to something a little more chill would help set up expectations?
Ah, didn't think of that, thanks!
Lovely little game with the perfect music to create the right mood! Only caveat I have are the blurry textures, you can probably change the texture filtering from billinear to point somewhere in construct the fix that.
Really nice game. I like the art and I enjoyed the gameplay :) Also the concept is nice. It was kind of hard to me but it was a good game. Amazing job! Also rate my game if you have time :)
Nice game. I love the concept, but I think the game is too hard. I would be very happy if you would play my game.
Very enjoyable and pleasing to play. The refuel scene is a really neat touch, and reminds me of Solar Jetman for the NES. The astronaut sprite is also really cute~!
I personally have gripes with linearly interpolated pixel art, so I would've preferred nearest neighbour scaling for the sprites, but that's not a big issue :)
Very nice, simple and intuitive game. Would be cool to have some more moving things outside that make the later levels harder (aliens? ^^). But it’s a jam entry and for the time you had, it plays great. Thanks for the game!
Love the art and the controls! This game is easier the more patient you are since it is not on time, but I loved floating through space with 95% fuel left slowly on my way to the next target.
controls were a bit tooooo hard but other than that good game
