wow really cool

Man I love this so much, I think this might be one of the best games I've played so far :)

The hitbox are a bit harsh, and that's literally all the defects I can find about the best concept of the whole jam. You did a fantastic job.

Developer

Glad you liked it!

(I'm turning this into a full game by the way)

I really liked the game, love puzzle games and levels were so challenging. I couldn't complete all of them, because I got too frustrated at 4th level hahaha. Good job! :)

Thanks for the feedback! If you want more make sure to follow me on itch so you won't miss a devlog of Johnny Split(I'm turning it into a full game)

Very solid game, super enjoyable!

There was a weird mechanic with the controls. AD let the legs on the left move in all four direction, and simultaneously moved Johnny left/right on the right. W moved the legs up, and caused johnny to jump simultenously.

With the arrow keys, this however wasn’t the case. left and right behaved the same as AD, but pressing up/down only moved the legs and did not cause johnny to jump. I don’t know if this is a bug, and pressing up should cause johnny to jump (or, conversely, that arrow keys shouldnt affect the right side at all), but it was definitely a bit weird lol.

To shed a bit more light on the particles winning bug, it looks like the particles themselves count as the player, because in the… second? level there was about 3 blocks with spikes on top above the goal; i died on the top block, but when the particles hit the spike below, it’d play an animation there as though the player hit the spike below, and repeat until the particles hit the end point.

The graphics and sound in the game are stellar. They art is very colourful and fit the game’s style well. The music and sound effects also fit in very well.

Overall a solid game, and another favourite of mine from this jam. Well done!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! The arrow key "bug" isn't a real one, but I could've thought about it. Basically the game is meant to be played with WSAD, but the way I collect input for horizontal movement causes left and right arrow keys to work.

Edit: I checked the particle bug. Fix coming soon

Really cool game! Hard but addictive. I don't know what feedback I can give other than some minor interface bugs like the itro dialogue overlapping the winning screen for the first level. This is really well done, good job!

Developer

Great! Stay tuned for the full game!

I actually loved this game, it was a bit tricky at first but then i couldn't stop until i beat it all. At times the hit boxes are unforgiving but I think that adds to the challenge.
Well done

I really like the idea and the gameplay, and the art is nice. Definitely great to tun it into a full game!

There's a bug, Seems like the player (Johnny) can still move after death, so when I reach the finish before the level restart it still count as win

Developer(+1)

Great! Thanks for reporting the bug!

nice!!!

really liked the gameplay!!! ;D

I had see your ancounment, I tink there is indeed enough potential to make this in full game!! ;)

really well done! ;)

Developer(+1)

Great to hear that!

I found this game to be pretty challenging at first but once I got familiar with the idea it became a lot more fun! The game was smooth and the animations were well done :) No spoilers, but the ending was great!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed!

Awesome idea! Super creative! I don't much feedback other than with a little polish this could be full project. One bug I found though was using the arrow keys I was able to move the top down player but not jump on the platformer character (not a big deal just wanted to mention it)

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! I'm actually going to turn it into a full game, so feel free to follow me on Itch so you won't miss a devlog!

Your game has a simple idea and you made a lot out of it. Just like how  a good puzzle game should be made. Very good game for a first game jam. Keep going man.

Developer

Thanks! I want to change this game into a full release, so follow me if you don't want to miss a devlog which I'll definitely post!

Really nice product, I liked the concept and the actuall puzzles were really cool especially when there were many ways to complete them. I found a bug when the other top-down player could die but the level didn't reset and I could complete it with the platformer johnny so yeah haha. Rated!

Developer

Thanks for playing and sorry for the bug ! I'm planning to expand this game to a full release, so stay tuned!

Submitted

Oh thats amazing! But dont rush it cause it's gold in the fire!

Developer

Great! You can follow me on Itch so you won't miss a devlog!

I really like the concept of the game! It's such a cool idea to be trying to accomplish two goals simultaneously. There's quite a few levels which is good too. The character controls are nice and the gameplay is interesting. Only thing is in the beginning levels I didn't know where to jump to complete the level, I just had to guess that you jump off screen somewhere haha or maybe my resolution was just messed up.

It also is REALLY mixing genres as the theme says. I really like where you went with this!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing! Yeah, I messed the resolution in build, if you want to fix it just lower page size in your browser! I'm also planning to turn this game to a full release, so let me know what you think about it!

Submitted

Lovley! Is quite hard but works really nice!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm probably going to turn it into a full release so stay tuned!

Very Original!

Loved the game and finished wanting more levels!

Nice Job!

Developer(+1)

Normally I would have spent more time on level design, but it was my first jam and I still had a lot of new things to learn so I hadn't that much time for making more.

Anyways, glad you enjoyed Johnny Split and thanks for playing!

Also I'm planning to work on a full release of the game with more levels of course ;))) Feel free to follow me, so you won't miss a devlog which I'll definitely post!

Submitted(+1)

Actually even if you created more levels, I would probably wanted more.

Cause it's a great game!

great concept and the game is challenging

Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Just to ask you:  did you get a music overlapping or sounding weird? It's a strange bug, sometimes appears, sometimes not...

Submitted

nope

Developer

That's great! You got lucky here! Also it seems that it happens more often to ppl who die a lot on a level so congrats!

Submitted

thats a super creative way of the theme, and i lov it! sound is good, everything is really good. good job!

Developer

Glad you liked it

Cool music and I like the puzzle of it all!

Developer

Thanks for streaming it!

I like the concept of controlling 2 slimes (Top down and platformer), My only concern was the spike collision box was too big or the player hurt box was too big, it felt unfair sometimes, but Overall very good job!.

Developer (1 edit)

Sorry for that. I'll work on this game, probably to a full release, so feel free to follow me on Itch!

Thanks for playing!
