Simple but fun little game plenty options for future development.
Good job! Your game is not too hard since the unmasker is moving randomly. Getting stuck in the hallways is annoying however. You can get around this problem by halting the player avatar IF it is at an intersection AND no button is being pressed. Not sure this would work in your game. Making the hallways wider is an easy solution that always works.
Thanks to everyone for playing my game (´∀`)♡ After reading the feedback and comments I have made an edited version with wider hallways, and less colourful and cluttered.
I'm still rather new to this but I had a lot of fun with this games jam, and I will make sure to take the comments and suggestions into consideration for future games ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
New edited post jam game version
This idea is simple but effective. It was really hard to get into some of the narrow lanes. I'm glad you had the counter at the top for tracking how much was left.
The art style is well done, although the colors make it hard to tell what is going on at first. I love how the anti-masker looks like a zombie! Well done overall!
Thank you for playing (´∀`)♡
This is great, love that I got that anti-masker fired lol! Not sure if it was intentional but I was able to access the editor by hitting esc in the main menu. Cool to see the code for the game, makes me appreciate the product even more.
Thanks for playing :) On Tic-80 pressing escape a couple of times will show the game's code, it's cool because you can see the code behind any games published via Tic-80! Good for beginners to see how different games are made, I like that feature.
actually never heard of tic-80, that is a sweet feature
Pacman on a virus lol
This game is legit! I don't like retro for the sake of retro as an aesthetic choice but I can absolutely get behind retro for the sake of tiny games made with grueling technical limitations to spark artistic inventiveness. You should be very proud of what you have achieved here. I appreciate how you responded to the current pandemic with cleverness and heart. I really really appreciate that you included a 'What I Learned' section on your game page. The only real downfall here is how unforgivingly hard it is to fit the character through the entryways, off by a pixel and you're deadmeat. If you do a similar project in the future, please make the corridors or at the least the doors 20% wider than the character.
Thank you so much! (´∀`)♡ I am also not a fan of retro just to be retro, I have liked using Tic-80 though, it was daunting at first but once I got through the study material from my university it because easier to understand and fun to do.
I'll be sure to make the hallways wider in future games, a few people have had that issue so it's very much on my "to-do list" to improve on in future (ノ∀\*) Thank you for playing!
This reminds me of something that I have played before. I can't place my finger on it, but something I played back in the days of DOS, maybe. Simple and fun, a bit frustrating since you have to be aligned just right to get between some things.
I enjoyed the game play it was a bit like pac man, though the boss isnt that hard, maybe making a difficulty for how many bosses you want to have in play, but time is a thing so I get it. but the art was cool and I like the game :P.
Love the art style, some of the collisions seemed a bit off but loved it. great entry. I love the intro, it felt like an MS-DOS menu.
Really enjoyed the visual style, game was fun and not too difficult. The one thing that caused me trouble (and only for the first few seconds) was identifying the player from the start.
Took me a while to initially understand where was the character I was controlling, also the corridors were a bit too small or my character collision to big, I would often get stuck on corners thinking I would get through. I like the art and the general presentation, it's well made.
Thank you for playing :) I'm sorry that the collision was causing issues, I noticed the AI enemy was a lot faster when it was closer corridors, I'll hopefully have a better understanding of AI enemies in the future and make sure the player can move better ><
This is fun, and seeing a non-standard engine like TIC used is nice. One thing that could be improved is the movement, I found that sometimes I couldn't turn corners because I wasn't moved quite far enough. Maybe the movement could be grid snapped entirely, like movement only terminates when you're aligned with the grid? Overall had a good time though, had a chuckle at the game losing message.
We just started to learn LUA via Tic-80, so I used this game jam as practice and found it to be a fun program to use! Thank you for playing :)
Very fun game, but it's very colourful so it's hard to see where trash is.
Thanks for playing :) I might have gone over board with the colours because I was paranoid it'd look too plain lol >< I'll be more careful next time.
It was a fun little run through the office :) Sometimes I'd get stuck trying to go through a hall, but I believe I was just missing the hall, haha
Hahaha! It was a great concept. I loved the way you took the "anti masks" as an enemy.
I just think the sprites was a little messy in the first look, but had a lot of fun remembering playing pacman.
loved the game! Congrats!
sometimes the game appears to crash? is that game over? it wasn't really clear, aside from that it's a great game!
Oh no... I never saw it crash on me... There are only two endings that have their own splash screens: The good end (if you collect all the items), and the bad end (if the Antimasker catches you).
I'm glad you liked it aside from it crashing (*ノωノ) Thank you for playing!
