This was really awesome! Very cool that you used mini-games to repair the ship and the cutscenes / art / sound design was fantastic. Nice job.
This is a great idea, the visuals are super polished, and I liked the variety of minigames
Really cool! I like it.
Complete with a lot of mechanics, captivating and coherent art style on every different minigame.
I thought it was cool that you had little minigames to complete in order to repair the ship rather than just an immediate death. The cutscenes and bosses looked pretty cool, however it felt quite jarring when the cutscene with the musical sounding text sounds were contrasted by just little sound effects during gameplay, I felt it could benefited with some background music.
We really appreciate the feedback! Unfortunately, the lack of background music is largely due to the constraints of the Nokia being monophonic. If we had a background track, it would be constantly interrupted by the player and enemy firing, so the musicality of the cutscenes was our way to reconcile with that fact. If we decide to break the Nokia limitations in a post-jam update though, we’ll definitely add some music throughout. Thanks for playing!
LOL. The dialogue was just incredible. I'd say more but I'm still too busy chuckling to myself over what just happened here. Well done.
I’m chuckling now too, but its a chuckle of gratuity. Thanks for playing!
There's plenty of stuff going on here! It's a little weird that the dark enemies are invulnerable to being shot, but I got used to it pretty quickly. It's also interesting to see a side-scrolling shooter that's top-down and person-based, rather than R-Type-style spaceship-based! Good work :)
The dark enemies are actually not invulnerable, they take two hits to kill, but we definitely understand if its hard to do because of how fast they move. That's really useful feedback, and we'll keep that in mind for the post-jam update. Thank you!
Oh. very fun!
Oh. very thank you!
Very well-made game. Has a story, artistic flair, several mechanics, and stays fresh when playing through.
Gee thanks!
I was surprised and delighted by the death mechanics. very clever and interesting! really well put together game!
Thanks, We're glad you enjoyed it! On a totally unrelated note, I was very intrigued by your profile "picture", and I have to say Blue Bayou is a great game! Anyone reading this should definitely check it out, as well your game for this jam, which is equally as delightful.
Hey you! Yeah, you: the person browsing the game jam submissions thinking about trying out this game or not... Just try it. Its GREAT!
There's so many mechanics built into it: platforming, maze solving, narrative, side-scrolling shooting... Mostly though, imo this game shines because the dialogue and story are 10/10 XD
Dang dude, I don't even know what to say. You're a real one. Also if anyone reading this hasn't tried out Left Among Dead in Space for some crazy reason you definitely gotta! Our team enjoyed it a lot.
I really like art direction in this one and overall I think its very polished. I was pleasantly surprised to find out there are minigames too :) Great job !
We’re glad you enjoyed the minigames!
Generally a nice-looking and well-executed game.
I did feel that the text speed of dialogue was excessively slow, and would have liked space to advance to the end of pages of dialog instead of skipping unfinished paragraphs entirely. Simple changes to this UI would have made the plot more enjoyable.
In gameplay, I rarely felt that there was any reason not to hold down fire continuously. A charged shot, a limit on projectiles in the air, an ammo limit, or any number of other mechanics could make firing something that benefitted from careful timing.
We definitely hear you, a lot of those are things we just couldn’t manage to finish due to time constraints, but we will be making some changes in the post jam version, so keep and eye out for that. Thanks for the feedback!
Really nice! I liked the minigames when you run out of lives, and the overall gameplay! The story in it was nice as well. This is a really good game!
We’re really glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
