I dig it. Valiant last stand against an unknown and apparently unstoppable foe. It read very well and captured a moment excellently.
I half wrote a sequel called Lucretia's Stand where it was meant to have a bittersweet ending.
Sisters getting a lot of love during this jam, I think this would be the lead for a mini-anthology from what I’ve read so far!

This was a clever twist on the theme of 'let them in'; with that theme my mind immediately goes to mercy and/or hard descisions, and I liked what you did with the idea.
