Description
Hystoripia is a 3D action/adventure game, inspired by 90's games. A tribute to Zelda's gameplay and Jet Set Radio's art style.

You play as Galli Wally (the one in our cover !), a young recruit of the Hystoripia laboratory, in charge of exploring and keeping order through our own timeline.
However, Ashton Chronosia, your rival, jealously broke the balance between years and places !
In your quest to catch her, travel through vast worlds where time is messed up.
Use your newly acquired NewTron Watch to change your near environment's period, whenever you want !
Talk with people, fight enemies and interact with many puzzles in the same location... but in different years !

To imagine and compose Hystoripia's soundtrack, we used Cubase with VSTs, electric guitar (Legende_Urbaine), synth (Wav_le_Hib) and samples.

Now, here's a list of each track's moment :

1_Explorer of History : Our main theme, played during intro and main menu. We mixed various instruments and sound effects from each represented period in our game !

2_Time to Quest Through Time : Ready to explore ? Here you are in Hystoripia Laboratory with its weird machines, both high-tech and mystical, created and maintained by the finest scientists. A window to our own timeline, and a gate to many locations where time needs to be repaired !

3_This Old Great Garden : The first vast world you can explore ! You're stepping in Le Jardin Des Plantes in Paris, France. Welcome in 1635 in this newly built garden, ordered by the King himself. The green of the leaves and the blue of the fountains charm you with this violin and flute anthem...
And then, a few steps, and you're facing, behind the hedges, a bar among factories and a station in 1890. Trumpets, first automatic machines, steams... what an era of revolutions !
Behind them, you're starting to walk between Walkman enjoyers in huge jeans listening to synth, driving with old fashion cars in the 80's.
Finally, you reach the centre of the garden, meeting young teens and students preparing their Shorts, dancing, chatting... in 2020's, when online techs go with any short walk outside !

But... do you know you can switch between these periods with your NewTron ? Use it, but be careful, the transition can be "unusual" for your ears and eyes.

4_The Heroic Elder Gear : After a few puzzles, it seems you've awakened a quite old gear from centuries... a Musketeer Golem. Inhabited by a former woman soldier, she's furious, accurate and fast enough with her harquebus to take you down ! A battle is raging in the whole garden, but don't worry ! Use time swapping at your advantage ! Find covers, traps,... or just go face to face with your watch's combat abilities, like your brand new MachineGun's module !

5_Just do it again : Ouch... you got down ! You fell in a trap, got down by an adversary, whatever, try again ! Don't lay your arms down, explorer !

6_Ashton's Tunner of Time : There you are, you finally found the trouble maker... However, she uses some stolen machines to create a warp through the timeline : a psychedelic tunnel among periods. Reach her within this chaos, use your watch to stabilise the flow... and beat your rival for good ! You can do it !

7_Congrats ! : Well, explorer, good job ! Peace and order are back in the timeline, time fractures disappeared in every known location ! Thanks again for playing Hystoripia, enjoy the end credits !

Message from the artist:
During this project, Legende Urbaine was the main composer, helped by Wav_le_hib to imagine Hystoripia's universe, melodies and instruments. Our passion of history helped us find accurate genres to describe this trip in the timeline !

Theme:

Tick Tock...
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
In Hystoripia, each vast place you explore has its multiple locations fractured in different times : some are locked during the 1600's, then you walk a few meters and enter a 1800's district with its industrial surrouding, then you enter another place full of synthwaves and Walkmans in the 1980's...

But with Galli's NewTron Watch, you can pick up powers to manipulate each small era's period, as you please ! So you can meet different NPCs, secret rooms, puzzles... and hear various musics !

That is a very creative sountrack! I think the work of both of you helped in that sense and it's great put together.

I loved you effort on textures and sound effects, it really feels more immersive than a simple song. I think that your songs are greatly developed too, you never know what to expect. It made me want to use my guitar for next jam as I didn't do it since a long time! :D

This Old Great Garden had the best musical twist I've heard and spot on with the theme, honestly amazing!

BTW are you French? "Légende Urbaine" et le jardin des plantes de Paris 😏

Moi aussi ! Et j'utilise Cubase aussi ^^ Bisous les copains continuez c'est hyper intriguant et cool comme musique ! J'espère vous revoir sur d'autres jams ! 🔥

Very creative sound design and blend of sounds! A lot of super cool ideas that really makes the whole thing into a unique experience! Super cool use of panning and time warp effects in particular. Great job overall!

Definately top ranks for the creativity! This is really very diverse and conceptual music! Well done!

To me, this brings on the feeling from 70s rock, and in this context much in the veins of Bo Hanssons Lord Of The Rings-music, but more rock and less "folklore" sounding. And this is a huge compliment as that is one of my all time favorites. And the amount of music produced, that works together,  is also  impressive in its own. Well done!

A lot of content here!

First off, I love the "winding down" effects, definitely conveys the idea of time being altered in some way. The music overall is dynamic, interesting, and constantly adjusting to the different areas of the game you describe. That's where I would give my first critique - while these songs don't sound bad by any means, it's a little confusing to me that they are on the same track. "This Old Great Garden" feels like it should be three seperate tracks that are divided by each subarea that you described in that level. The track as it is feels more like it's timed to a cinematic cutscene rather than an area you are exploring in a game. This same issue reoccurs throughout the soundtrack in a couple spots, and while the music itself is fun and colorfully conveys the imagery of the different areas you described perfectly; it just doesn't seem to me that it matches up with the an open world game as it is. On "Time to Quest Through Time" the song picks up at the very end, and while I'm always a fan of a nice electric guitar riff, that section just seems unnecessary compared to the rest of the track and suddenly changes the vibe completely.

All of that aside, I hope I didn't come off as being harsh - there is a ton of creativity and good world building here, the effort spent working on the game behind the music is impressive and really helps bring your ideas to life. The quality of the music is great and it was a pretty fun listen, overall a very solid and polished sounding soundtrack!

This is one of the most creative soundtracks ever! It starts off incredibly intriguing and sustains its uniqueness perfectly!

Wow, that's a lot of music! Nice guitar work. A lot of neat ideas in here. A lot of disorienting time shenanigans! Thanks for making and sharing.

Interesting concept. I like the time warp sounds as transitions, and the idea to combine sounds from different eras  is really cool
