Description
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not so sure what genre it would be tbh, I suppose a mixture of ambience, orchestra, and electronic because those were what I used to help make the tracks.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(STORY)
The game I based the tracks off tells the story of a young boy who doesn't want to grow up yet. He enters a place called "Dream Land", a part of his subconscious that he escapes to when he feels scared. With the help of his friends he makes a long the way, he must learn that he can't stay a child forever and leave dream land with a new sense of inner peace.
(GAMEPLAY)
The game I envisioned would be a simple 2D top-down RPG sort of like Pokemon in a sense. The player may also be rewarded for exploring by finding different weapons and items that can aid them in their adventure as well as befriending different people in Dream Land. (Also, all the weapons would be comedically acquired firearms because why not lol.)
(COMBAT)
Occasional turn-based combat would also be present when adventuring in places outside of "safe zones." When in combat, you are given four choices: either attack the enemy, flee the battle, use an ability, or use an item.
The other three are self-explanatory, but the fight option would enter you into a short aiming mini-game where you are tasked to fire at all available target points in a limited time to damage the enemy. The more targets you hit, the more damage you deal.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What each track represents can be seen in their respective Youtube videos. All except for a few tracks (i.e. the tension tracks, the first song, the elevator music, and the last song) are meant to be looped.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I mostly composed each track by just putting random melodies in my piano and see if it sounds decent. That's literally what I did for most of the songs lol.

Message from the artist
Sheepie 4 life! 🐑🐑🐑
On a serious note, I hope you enjoyed this! I didn't have much time when I joined since only three days remained so some of the tracks might sound repetitive lol, but I'm still very happy with that I was able to do. I'm also impressed by how amazing everyone else's tracks are, some of the tracks I've seen are simply amazing and I congratulate everyone who participated in this Jam!
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
Although most of the songs don't sound "dream-like," the main game that the songs are based on are.

Wow, the sheer variety to these tracks is astounding! They really came together to paint this world of yours in a vivid way, I enjoyed it a lot! I think my favorite track has to be 'Your Unfathomably Furry And Friendly Sheep Friend, Sheepie' though, it's just too charming haha
Tysm for the kind words! I am very happy you found "Your Unfathomably Furry And Friendly Sheep Friend, Sheepie" charming. The sheep related tracks are the ones I had the most fun with simply because I just made them as goofy as possible lol. Again, thank you for checking out my project and have a good day :D
The orchestration, melodies, textures, and overall compositions remind me of To The Moon and A Bird Story: intimate, childlike, innocent, bittersweet, and surreal at times. "Cave Exploring" is my favorite track of the OST. Excellent job!
Thanks for checking out my project! I think you summed up exactly what I was trying to go for when making the tracks. Again, thank you for checking out my OST and have a great day :D
holy moly, I’m blown away by the amount of creative and engaging tracks you have produced in such a short time. Very impressive
Thank you so much for the kind words! I had a lot of fun composing these tracks and I'm so glad you found them interesting. I'll be sure to check out what you made as well if I have some free time!
Pretty interesting ideas you got overall, I though it was only going to be piano but no you actually did a lot of variation (a surprise to be sure be a welcomed one). Feedback to improve, watch out for your piano velocity if you play too hard doesn,t mean you build up something, its too agressive, watch out for triad chords in the low end its not pretty in general try to change the voicing of your chords. You might be limited in terms of sound plugins, there is a lot of free pretty good sounds out there you can start to play with. Good job :)
Thanks for the feedback! I'll be sure to keep these in mind for any of my future projects. I'll be sure to check out your OST too if I have the time to do so. Again, thank you for the feedback and have a good one :D
Very cool! I could hear the Toby Fox influence in song like Hellen's Hello and Sheepville, the very simple melodies and chord progressions along with good use of sfx made for a great listening experience! I could definitely see this being the OST of a real indie game
Thanks for checking this out! You're spot on regarding the Toby Fox influence lol. I listened to a lot of the Undertale OST to help give an idea of how I want my tracks to feel. Again, ty and have a good day :D
Nice participation :) I would say my favorite tracks are :
"Home Away From Home" : I can totally picture myself playing a very chill game with this music.
"Out Of Town" : I would love to be able to make a track like that !
"Cave of Dreams" : I really love the synths with mallets and cave ambiance, just the kind of atmosphere I like!
"Fight Yourself" : damn this one is very good, it fills me with determination aha
Great job !
Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you found some enjoyment listening to my tracks. And thank you as well for the kind words, I really appreciate them.
wow this is an impressive body of work!! even more impressive that all the tracks feel cohesive - this could slot perfectly into a game (and i would love to play it hehe)
my favorite tracks are A Place Mysteriously Located in a Far side of the Cave and Nightmare Fight, though i loved Elevator Bop (super super fun)
good piano playing too. i enjoyed my time here, awesome job and congrats!!
Tysm! I'm thrilled you enjoyed the songs and thank you for the nice words. I'll be sure to check out your project as well!
(Wow, that's a ton of tracks. Forgive me if it's a tiny bit less detailed than my other reviews!)
(I write these live as I listen!)
1 - The Past Is Best Cherished - 3.8 stars
A joyful sounding intro. Starts sounding a bit more dramatic.. now the piano's going louder! Lovely composition. My only dislike.. not enough range in the frequencies! I wanted to hear some low notes in this track! It's lovely though!
2 - Hellen's Hello - 3.5 stars
Haha.. I know what track this references. Nothing against some inspiration - you made it sound good! Docking a very small amount for creativity though.. sorry!
3 - Home Away From Home - 4 stars
Beautiful! I love a good waltz. A good chord progression too! A finer instrument selection than the others as well.
4 - Welcome Home - 4 stars
So joyful and familiar, like a little music box! Very simple!
5 - Nightmare Fight - 4.5 stars
WOAH!! It comes at you all at once! Cymbal is a bit loud compared to the other stuff, and I'd love more clarity on that snare. Absolutely sick though! Feels like an N64 boss battle..
6 - Hellen's Goodbye - 4 stars
Very emotional and simplistic. This chord progression always gets me, haha
7 - Out Of Town - 4.3 stars
A slightly different feel than the rest! Another track with more variety in instruments. And, another waltz! Lovely!
8 - Unnecessary Tension 3.8 stars
Orchestral Hit melody feels a little off.. but then when the other instruments kick in the tension really sets in.
9 - Your Unfathomably Furry And Friendly Sheep Friend, Sheepie - 4 stars
Another time where I recognize the inspiration haha.. what a goofy track. Very silly.
10 - Sheepville - 3.8 stars
Keeps the motif of the last one! Goofy as ever :)
11 - Cave Of Dreams - 4.5 stars
So spooky, yet has that classic inspirational chord progression :) Love the little droplets, it really sells the idea of a cave
12 - Feeling Watched - 4 stars
Wow.. very very spooky. Feels like disc 11 with those little block placing-like sounds
13 - Yourself - 3.5 stars
Another dark track. Super dissonant, but that dissonance is used to your advantage. It works pretty well.
14 - RUN - 4.5 stars
Definitely makes you want to RUN.
15 - A Place Mysteriously Located in a Far side of the Cave - 4 stars
Keeping to that cave theme with more droplets. It works well! Similar to the other cave track. Love the delayed melody synth once again.
16 - More Unnecessary Tension - 4
Better executed than the other tension track.
17 - Your Unusually Furious And Fier - 4.8
Wow, what a shift! The composition is absolutely sick in here! So dramatic!
18 - Best of Friends - 3.8
Back to that sheep theme again :) Funny and silly
19 - Dream Factory - 3.5
Very simplistic intro. A little bit dissonant as it goes on!
20 - Elevator Bop - 5 Haha, I really do feel like I'm on an elevator! My favorite so far. Such a cool track. Favorite so far. Love the sound effects.
21 - Echoes From a Hopeful Reality - 4
Love this chord progression! It is a little bit hopeful, but some chords make it feel a little more dreadful!
22 - Fight Yourself - 4.5
Love this chord progression once again! The orchestration is sick, these instruments work nicely together. The energy is focused and booming!
23 - One Last Goodbye - 3.8
Another joyful thing, this time a little more simplistic. Nice work!
Overall - very soundfonty haha. I can feel the effort put into this! (Was just a little hard to listen due to its length.. haha.)
Tysm! I really put a lot of love and effort into this OST and I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. I'll be sure to keep in mind the comments you've mentioned. Again, thanks for checking out my project!
