Description
My fictional game would be titled Two Worlds, it is a 2D platformer/metroidvania that challenges your way of navigating the world where the boundaries of reality are constantly shifting.

You incarnate a Fox (Dark in Light world and White in Dark World) in search of his true path. As he delves deeper into the dual worlds, he must confront his own fears and insecurities, growing stronger with every challenge he overcomes.

Main mechanic: Seamlessly switch between two parallel worlds at any time, navigating through intricate levels with a unique timer and cooldown system. Each world offers distinct challenges and opportunities, requiring strategic thinking and precise timing.

It will be a necessity to switch between worlds or else no progress will be made. For exemple Dark world offers different powers/abilities and level design will morph with it.

Interactive Soundtrack: Dynamic musical experience that evolves as you play. The soundtrack transitions from light to dark seemlessly at any time in the musical soundtrack.

Each track has a "softer" side and transition into a distorted/glitchy and sometimes ominous vibe to the Dark side. So I created all the music keeping in mind that they can switch at any time from one mood to the other.

Track no 1 - Two Worlds

This track is the introduction level to the game as everything is unstable and we can hear some distortion in both light and dark side of the soundtrack but more since it is the introduction of the main mechanic of switching to dark side we stay longer in the dark side.
Of course in game it will work but for the sake of the Jam I did compose some custom transitions to make it work even better. A looping can be made from 0:14 to 0:43 when the main theme starts and transforms with the transition into dark. There whole track can loop from start to finish to but it is not the intention as in the game we want to switch at any point

Track no 2- In Between

We are used to the mechanic and are able to switch from Light to Dark easily, this track is way more dynamic and uplifting . At the end of the track we can still hear that we are not fully in control with the glitchy/distorted effect putting us back.

Track no 3 - Amidst

We are in perfect control of our abilities, the soundtrack can switch perfectly from Light to dark at any time, good for speedrun strat, using with almost no cooldown between the world switch we can navigate the levels with more ease. Loops from 0:12 to 1:12 (Light) perfectly with 4 bars intro and from 1:12 to 2:12 (Dark) which can be crossfaded at anytime using a transition mechanic.

I used Nuendo 11 for mainly all of the MIDI and musicale aspect of the composition and Reaper for the Sound Design.

Message from the artist
I had a blast doing this interactive soundtrack, wish I could've done more. Hope you enjoy listening as much as I did composing :)

Theme

Inside my world

How does it fit the theme?
Inside my world : My game features a unique mechanic that constantly switches between two sides of the same world: one good and one bad. As you journey through this world, you'll need to navigate both light and dark realms to reach the end. This duality represents my personal vision of the world.

Two Worlds - Nice synthwave sounds and getting into that bigger section everything is so well balanced with a nice simple melody supporting everything in the busy part.

In Between - Those percussive/granular crispy crunchy sounds are so clean! Nice and chilling and the quieter parts and a really nice melodic and bass line you have in this track!

Amidst - A really dynamic and evolving track, really enjoyed this rollercoaster!

Thank you very much for the detailed comment, glad you enjoyed it :)

Impressed by the clear mix, the atmosphere, the dynamics, the diverse composition and cool ideas! Sound Design is amazing and adds a lot to the dynamics and ambience. Totally love the dark mood and would love to play a game with this OST :)

Developer

Thank you, happy you enjoyed the production and the mix, it was a pretty nice challenge to put this through :)

What a beautiful work, I loved it. I really liked them all. But Amidst is my favorite

Developer

Thank you very much ;)

I love your incredible atmosphere of something melodic and spooky..... as if someone had decided to brighten up my last days before I die....

Two Worlds - Creepy beginning, and then the momentum kicks in and I start to feel like I need to think....

In Between - PERCUSSION IN MY EARS AAAAAAAAAAAAAA (I like it).

Amidst - I feel the enormity, beauty and unbelievability of this world...
...freedom?

P.S. I want to play this game very badly.... when will you make it?)

Developer

Thank you for taking the time to write this after rating 600 :) I would like to play the game too but the skills is lacking for all the other roles XD.

The dynamic music is really nice and always a cool edition, I feel a similar vibe to the ice/fire levels in crypt of the necrodancer. The mixing is nicely done, especially with the percussion. This was a nice listen, Great work!

ok this is my favorite submission ive reviewed in this jam so far. The production is punchy and full, and also has interesting harmonic/melodic content to back up the solid production. The selection of synth sounds is really compelling and gives me some death stranding vibes in a really good way - and then the way that they contrast with the softer piano sections gives a really narrative feel to the pieces. Super solid!!

I came back to listen to this one, so I just wanted to second this.

Developer

Waaaaaa, thank you very much this is a huge compliment especially when your track is just insane XD, glad you enjoyed the production, composition and all the subtleties :)

Great soundtrack !
The concept of the game coupled with the album cover reminds me of Shady Part Of Me (and not the other Two Worlds game aka the greatest RPG of all time according to no one), which is very nice.
Concerning the music in itself, I really liked the fact that you thought of a dynamic implementation of your tracks in a game context (conveyed by the transitions between the different parts of the tracks), which makes the listening experience quite dynamic and engaging with the changes you bring regularly.
Overall, I really liked the opening track for the implementation of this concept (although the other ones were top notch as well), so good job !

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the concept. the album cover looks indeed like Shady Part of Me, which I never knew existed, I learned so much new composers and games in general during this jam.

Bro! The composition and the sound design are so well done. The "Two World" reminds me a bit of Mass Effect or some kind of space opera. Really great work! ❤

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for this lovely comment, glad you enjoyed it :)

The sound design and production is great! The percussion in In Between and Amidst has that nice ear candy quality to it, its so nice to listen to. Even with the intensifying sound design in these tracks the underlying composition still has that chill puzzle platformer feel.

Great work!

Developer

Thank you very much for listening, glad you enjoyed the prodction. In Between was a bit of luck, had a "shower thought" for the percussions and glad it came out nice for you :)

Submitted(+1)

Good mixing and overall quality, the tracks give me that feel of puzzle platformer, thinking how to solve the next challenge using the light and dark switch. My favorite track is In Between.

Developer

Thank you very much  : )

Wow this is so good. Really digging the Dark/Light concept, the dynamic music, and the looping. I was kinda hoping there'd be some sound design depicting the sound of the transition, but it's awesome anyway.

Good job with mixing and mastering. Overall, a really solid entry with a serious shot at winning IMO.

Developer

Wow thank you very much, great compliment I really appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it :)

Utterly stunning! Dynamic music in games is one of those things in life that makes my brain do a big ol' happy dance, and you've executed it so perfectly here with a beautiful theme/game idea to match :3

I wish I could make something like this, haha. Maybe someday! It's so rich in atmosphere and emotion that it sets my brain on fire with inspiration. I really need to give each track another listen with some better headphones on when I get a chance! Definitely one of the standout submissions I've managed to listen to. I'm just blown away x3

Developer(+1)

What a lovely comment, I don,t know what to say except thank you ! Really glad you enjoyed the attention to details. You wish you could make something like this but I think you did something very unique in return, it may not be the same concept but you executed your idea flawlessly imo.

I had to listen to the entire ost twice, because I felt I didn't get to fully enjoy it the first time!

Fantastic Ambient-Electronic music here! Everything feels so familiar yet still incredibly new to me... (It might be because of my love to sonic 06's ost, but I don't that's quite it)

Great melodies and harmonies, that are worked into this incredibly produced music. It's so atmospheric it hurts.

Amazing job! Great submission!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen to it TWICE, really glad you enjoyed the second time and it was not just a fluke XD

Extremely cool! It reminds me a little of Daft Punk's score to Tron Legacy, especially the first track for the introductory level. Really well-produced and professional-sounding as well. Really impressive, congrats!

Developer

Thank you very much, yes I can see the Tron Legacy with the sound texture and arpegios. glad you enjoyed the production :)

Very moody soundtrack! The themes are unique in their own right and the production is excellent. Solid stuff!

Developer

Thank you very much !

Submitted(+1)

this is such an intense and well-mixed synthwave soundtrack! despite keeping the same idea throughout, you do a great job keeping things new and different through variation of melodies and dynamics, especially in your first track. i'm especially a fan of the drums in "in between." great work!!!!

Developer

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it. In between was a bit of luck, I had a "shower thought" about how I will do the percussion, glad it came out well for you :)

Submitted(+1)

Very innovative electronic music, dark yet hopeful, elegant amidst the punk, with rich emotions.

Developer

Thank you very much :)

Excellent excellent excellent... This is so so so good, man. Your balance of the dynamics of the sounds, the subtlety of the percussion and hidden instruments are masterful. I believe we may share the philosophy that the beauty comes from what isn't heard.

Submitted(+1)

Wow these tracks sound amazing! Really liked the compositions too, always introducing new parts and making it such a blast to listen too. Great work!

Developer

Thank you, glad you enjoyed !
