Message from the artist
This short orchestral piece composed an realized by me for this jam represents the theme for an adventure game set in a fantasy world with a mirror version of itself (sort of like a parallel universe where everything is reversed). My main musical inspirations for the composition where J.S. Bach's "crab canons" and Haydn's "Minuet al reverso". The piece was composed on Sibelius, then recorded on Ableton using an orchestral VST. I hope you like it, it was my first time participating in a jam and I had lots of fun doing it!

Listening Guide :

OVERWORLD : The piece that represents the overworld

UNDERWORLD : The piece that represents the underworld

OVERWORLD / UNDERWORLD : Both pieces on top of one another

Difficulty

B (Hard)

Make a piece that has the same musical notes both forwards and backwards but doesn’t have to be an identical recording.

Super unique! It has a strong Zelda vibe but with a touch of originality. I think it’s the perfect kind of music for exploration background. Great!

Very surreal and reminiscent of Zelda games, I love it

Fairly creative and soothing. Nice work, could have used some more varience though.

Creative ideas with the over- and underworld and adding them together. Also having the underworld in a reversed sound. It would have been a bit more interesting if the different "themes" would have differed a bit more soundwise. Maybe like having underworld more synth heavy and Overworld unplugged. Nether the less, cool work!

I agree, I think I woul've gotten my point across more clearly if the songs where in a more "super mario level 1 and 2" kinda dynamic.

Super soothing piece. I love the parts where it slightly goes out of key to create some really nice dissonance. Great job!

Very pretty tracks!

I thought that the flute was very nice. The naming of the tracks confused me. from just listening I gather that underworld is a reversed version of overworld but then there's also a song called Overworld : Underworld and since that all use the same instruments I kinda got lost haha.

I agree, I think I could've worked a little more on the greater picture the piece represented!

Nicely done, I like the mysterious piano arp and the sweet woodwinds melody, fits well with your description.

Very beautiful

You really nailed the fantasy aesthetic with this one! It is super soothing to listen to, almost reminds me of the softer tracks of Nier Automata.

Wow. This is actually beautiful. The instruments have such a unique sound to them, especially the flute I loved the flute section so much. This is just really good. I like this.

Really fits the picture you are painting of a dark fantasy world. I noticed the "flip" in the middle of each track where the arpeggios change direction. first upward (overworld?) and then downward (underworld?). But then you have to separate tracks for overworld/underworld with the same pattern, so my interpretation does not fit lol. Very immersive atmosphere though. I remember we had a Two Worlds theme several Jams ago, would have been a great submission for that too!

This sounds really nice! It's cool how each version is light and simple enough to really sound "full" when they're played together at the same time.

(also if you don't mind me asking, what custom color theme are you using for ableton it looks very nice haha)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The theme is called Azure Sky. You can find it and many more online if you search for ableton themes :)

Really unique and interesting work, but good.

Great submission with some strong texture and melodies.
