I love this game, incredible art, sfx, and polished - there are no weak spots. I like how you first explore and learn the controls. About the controls, they feel great with the additional challenge to also move the mouse in the direction where you want to go for an additional speed boost. Then from that atmospheric water world, it becomes a running away from the monster, which reminds me of terraria's wall of flesh. There are a lot of shortcuts to use, it is really cool. Almost forgot about the submarine light, it interacts with the map😯. GG!
Hi roboMarchello, thanks for the kind comment!
I'm happy that you enjoyed the controls : I had multiple choices when I had to develop them. It wasn't an easy guess but I'm now sure that I choose the best of among them. About the Wall of Flesh : it may be a coincidence but I have, with my brother, on average 750 hr of playtime on terraria/calamity/thorium! Definitely a coincidence...
Thanks again! And do not hesitate taking a look at the source code, and contact me if you have any question! It should be relatively clean (for a gamejam...)
Really good game, i liked the light effect and the story
ps: I think u will win lol
Thanks! You should tell us the story then because I think we may have played a different game lol.
(Et merci mon gars, ça fait plaisir ;) )
quand je dis l'histoire je parle de comment se déroule le jeu, il vas au fond pour récupérer le trésor puis remonte a la surface poursuivi par un monstre
I am not very good at playing games, so I felt it a bit hard to play in the beginning. Gradually got the feel of it, and kind of learnt the map temporarily, and it was smooth after that. The art is actually pretty good. The lighting effect is also good, I have been working on a similar game personally lol. Overall, great work!
Thanks for the kind words (Tank) King! That's true, you can't do much without knowing the maps. It's kinda a die & retry type of game. This artificial kind of difficulty is maybe not the best idea for a gamejam! Thanks for taking the time to learn all of these levels. And I'll let my brother know about your kind words about his art, that'll make him happy 100%.
Forgot to say it on my comment about your game, but the plastic bottle art is fire
Thank you :) Also, congrats for getting 3rd position! Hopefully your brother is very happy about this :D
Many thanks! Well played for your first place in polished! Deserved!
Thank you!
This is really good, but as others have said i feel like it's way too hard to play without knowing the maps, great artistic design though
Hi EgeEken, thanks for playing our game! Yeah difficulty is the main problem. Disa rightfully said that the developper get accustomed to the game mechanics, thus making everything easier for him. It make for a difficult game, which is not a great idea when you want people to play your game. I'll keep that in mind for the next jams!
Ty for taking the time to leave a comment, I appreciate it :)
Hi! I played your game on stream on the Pygame Community Youtube channel. If you weren't in the stream, and wanted to check out my playthrough and opinions, there are timestamps in the description. Apologies for any audio cutting issues.
Don't worry bacon, I was here the whole time just to witness your gaming skills. Thanks for taking the time to stream all games!
The light effect is very good, especially when it shines on the tiles (Although I don't know how to pass the game)
Thanks PythonZZY! Yeah the game is a bit hard 😅I should have done a difficulty slider!
I love the game, especially the art and the really good player movement.
Thanks Jakob :)
I liked the lighting system and the artstyle/music.
ty mage & muse guy
Awesome game! I wandered and explored for a while, the ruined structures and buildings really intrigued me. Was there like an Atlantis there? And the sea monster really sped up the pace of the game and made it interesting and fun. Though I don't really see where the small challenge was, pls mention in the comments i would like to give this game a great rating on everything! Great job, especially the lighting effects and art!
Hi Two!
Thanks for your kind comment. When we were looking for what game we're going to make with my brother, we wanted the player to feel small (even if it doesn't come out as we would have liked. At least we know we're underwater: 1/2!). I had this idea of lost cities (like atlantis, but which housed forgotten creatures, like in the Lovecraft novels (Cthulhu, ...)). I hope you survived the monsters attacks and reached the surface (but not too easily, it's meant to be hard).
And about Tanoko fishing, I haven't posted a comment or even reviewed it yet. I want to play all games before giving my thoughts! Congrats tho, I liked it :)
You succeeded, i did feel like quite the player character was tiny and the caverns and ocean and monsters were massive. I just hadn't correlated that with the challenge yet, thanks for clarifying! The monsters got me every time unfortunately, at that point it's a fast paced race against the monster, and i've always sucked at racing games... :( Thanks for your comments on Tanoko's fishing, I hope you enjoy my team's little game!
