make it into a real game
We love the combat system and overall aesthetic of your game! We really enjoyed playing it and hope that it will be continued after the jam!
Thanks a lot! We have fixed almost all gameplay bugs and made the overall gameplay much smoother, responsive & fun! It will be updated after the voting period ends, so stay tuned!
Pretty fun and challenging! I like how you implemented controls, sword feels really heavy!
Thank you! Physics in unity are pretty finicky but we got it roughly how we wanted it!
Simple but fun game, and high degree of perfection! nice game! The graphics reminded me of hollow knight, which is my favorite game!
thank you! I Ended up realizing how much I made the character look like little ghost after drawing her, which is funny because she literally looks so similar. I love hollow knight as well though, the praise is appreciated!
+: graphics, music, gameplay
-: a little unintuitive, leaderboard size
Thank you! We play tested so much we got so used to the mechanic we forgot to let anyone else play test to see if it needed anything to make it more accessible. But I appreciate the love!
The game is fun but hard to get used to.
The leaderboard is a little bit weird feeling with the text being so small.
Music sounds good and sfx are also nice.
Thank you so much for the comment! And as for the leaderboard, we had to implement it in the last 3 hours or so, so it was not the way we wanted it to be either :D. At least it is somewhat functional, I guess, lol! Glad you enjoyed it.
thank you for playing!
my favorite game of this jam so far :D
Happy to hear that you liked it!
Greatly appreciated!
Great little game, i really enjoyed playing it. It takes quite a bit to get used to the sword mechanics, but hey, it's so damn fun! The art style is on point too! Really curious to see how this game will evolve
thank you so much! We have some ideas about going back and tweaking, polishing and adding some minor features. So we'll see!
I suicided at 20k points. The game is really fun, but the difficulty doesn't scale so once you figure out the mechanic you can run it forever. I love the concept, but the sword mechanic broke really early into the run, so I was stuck at little baby sword forever :[
Great job with the game. Absolutely wonderful and with a little polish no-one would ever know this was for a jam.
-Submitted LEGIONS and Xenon- (Itch doesn't show both)
I appreciate the dedication! Thanks for playing, I'm sorry to hear about the bugs, we were definitely wrestling with a bunch for a while so unfortunately I'm not surprised that some slipped through still. And the difficulty was a big thing, we made the cauldron headed guys more frequent but I'm pretty sure the chance actually decreases over time for them to spawn for some reason, but there isnt much we can do about it now. Thank you for the thoughtful feedback!
I also forgot to mention how much I love the look of your main character :D
It's a great game, but 3 days is a really short time to polish something
The game is updated, now that the voting period is over! I had to delete your 20k score as it is really really REALLY hard to get those numbers currently, and I would love to see you have another run with the updated version! Have fun (and sorry for deleting your hi-score lol)!
This game played really well. I wasn't very good at making the sword work with me, but that was clearly my fault and not the game's. Still had fun with it, although a small detail is that the text in the leaderboard "enter your name" is really small. Like i-missed-it-for-a-minute small. But its a pretty minor inconvenience i figured out afterwards.
thanks so much! we really scrambled for some of that leaderboard stuff towards the end lmao. I appreciate your time
Ah yes i did the leaderboards last day myself as well ("finishing" with cut features 30 min before the deadline) so i get it lol
Idea so original, enjoyed playing the game!
thank you! We definitely struggled with our ambition, lmao. Thanks for playing!
Amazing visuals. The gameplay is great, although this style of games is not my strong point, but it was fun for a while. Overall the game looks great.
Thank you it means a lot! I put in a lot of effort and it makes me happy that you and so many others like the game and the art!
Well, that's the best mechanic I've ever seen. But when I got over 2000 points that strip on the top was no longer updating. And when I had over 5000 points and wanted to submit my score, it didn't count :(
Glad that you liked it! Points that you submit on your current session are actually "submitted", and it's just that you need to refresh the page and play again. Then you can see your score being there; I can see that you are on top #3 now. WP!
Oh, ok, sorry)
Absolutely no worries, I kinda tangled up programming the leaderboard part after everything else was done, so it turned out like this in the end haha
The way the sword works is really creative and has a lot of skill expression, I really enjoyed this one. I got a bug though where I lost with 1 life left, and when I replayed after that my sword was in a different part of my screen. Other than that though tons of fun
Happy to hear that you liked it! We are aware of this bug; however, it happens only in WebGL build, and we couldn't figure out exactly why it's occurring. I will take a deeper look into that for sure though!
"I love being a beyblade" is not a sentence I ever though I'd write, yet here we are. Loved your game, the main mechanic was super interesting (as was the sword-growing mechanic, but I feel the beyblade method of attacking was the highlight here) and it's just good, simple fun. The armored enemies clanging your sword and forcing it to go the opposite direction is such a neat little detail that can completely change gameplay and prevents the player from just swinging the sword haphazardly. Stellar job, five stars all around!!!
Seriously thank you so much- we poured a lot into this game and I appreciate your comment! Thanks so much for playing!
Thank you for making such a good game!
I never thought I wanted to play a game where I need to become a human beyblade to succeed, but here I am spending 30 minutes trying to wiggle my way to success. At first, it was a bit rough, but after some trial and error it become loads of fun. One issue I noticed was that the leaderboard didnt seem to update as I am pretty sure I got a score that would have made the top 5 ish, but nothing updated. Either way, it was a fun game, cute enemies, and a lot of spinning. A awesome submittion.
there is an issue with the leaderboard, but if you refresh the page/ reset the game it should update-
I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I appreciate it! We ended up getting so used to the mechanic in playtesting that it was a surprise when people took some time getting used to it lmao.
Haha, that is always an issue with game jams. This was definitely the most entertaining submition I have played so far though. Super polished mechanic!
Very cool game! The attacking is a little jarring at first, but once you get a rhythm it's super fun. You almost have to dance with the sword to kill enemies and I love it!
Happy to hear that you enjoyed it. We enjoyed it while developing too!
Yea thanks so much! I appreciate the review and you playing it!
What a unique attacking mechanic! It took a little bit of time to get used to the way the sword moves, but it felt very natural after a couple of goes, and it fit the heavy controls of the character very well. It would have been cool if you got a few points or something for hitting one of the enemies with the sword, and also if you could see your position on the leaderboard immediately after finishing. Also, the sound design was excellent. Great work!
Thank you for the kind words; it means a lot! Initially, we were giving points based on enemy kills, but felt like assigning it to weapon upgrades would make it more significant and harder to achieve. Glad you enjoyed it.
It seems like most people have to take some time to adjust to the mechanic, but I appreciate the high praise, and the feedback!
