Amazing polish

Developer

Thank you, glad you liked it! ^^

Really liked  the momentum based gameplay, took me quite a bit to get used to it and actually good at it but it kept me hooked!! Good job, really enjoyed it!!

Developer(+1)

Super glad you liked it! Worked hard on it! ^^

Wow this is a juicy, polished game. With a complete tutorial even! Fun, fast game play and interesting combo systems.

Developer

The tutorial was a big priority, since the game's a little overwhelming at first if you just get dropped in; Hopefully it made the learning curve a little less steep! Super glad you had a fun time! ^^

Submitted(+1)

Very fun game! felt really polished, I think that the movement could be a bit confusing since you needed to change where your mouse was/which button you're clicking pretty often to optimize your movement, but maybe if I just played for longer I would get the hang of it

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! The game definitely needs a lot of quick thinking to get high scores, with a lot of moving your mouse around, so it definitely takes some practice. Glad you thought it was fun! ^^

if the theme was momentum, you would've probably won tbh. also hoped you liked my gameplay vid.

Edit: HOW DID YOU MAKE THIS GAME BY YOURSELF!? Dang, im hella slow when making games then, i didnt even have a tutorial for my game. T-T

Developer(+1)

Hoping I still have a shot at the top spots, even though there was the theme mixup, haha. And don't worry, you're not slow; I've just been doing this for a long time! Something like 20 game jams under my belt at this point, I've gotten pretty good at making games in short times ^^
I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

This game, to put it mildly, was an absolute shock to my system. To be perfectly honest, I had kind of low expectations for this game because of the lack of art- but my god, I was wrong to think that. On my first run I got 300,000 points. Then 350. Then 375. Then I finally got a whopping 800,000. Every time I lost my score multiplier, I knew it was my fault. Each run felt fresh and exciting, and each time I kept learning new things. As I played I learned how to leverage the S button to string through enemies below me, how to save my rockets for whenever my multiplier was low for a quick snipe to boost it back up, and how to get the shotgun to kill an enemy WHILE sending me into ANOTHER enemy. Your (and your team's, if you had one) sense for game design is extremely well-honed. Well done. The gameplay and theme get an EASY 5-stars from me.

Developer

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the kind words! No team here, all solo, hence the lack of any art assets, I spent about 95% of my time working on gameplay, and the other 5% taking quick naps and eating, haha. Really tried to hone in on as high of a skill ceiling as possible (Oh, and if you haven't already seen it, you can go to the loadout screen and there's a bunch of pretty major changes you can make to your weapons, once you've gotten a hold of the basic weapon movement!)
Really glad you enjoyed the game! ^^

Oh yeah, those loadouts are such a great addition. I mainly used the Boomstick B-mutation (see what I did there), it was really helpful. My main strategy was: Get myself into positions where I can kill something with my shotgun AND get a lot of distance, spam the Sawtooth every chance I get, and snipe/hail mary something with a rocket if my multiplier got too low. Seemed to work well! I have NO IDEA how U-Solver got over 30million. Seems like your plan to give the game a high skill ceiling worked- he has like 15 times your own high score lol. I had a similar thing happen with this game I'm making on Steam (it's actually pretty similar to this). One of the players managed to get like 7 second runs on every single level, which I did not even know was possible. It's so cool when a player get that good at a game you make!

Developer (1 edit)

I'm honestly so incredibly curious how on earth anyone got a score that high. While I was making the game, I was able to get a score of 10 million once, but it was only while I had accidentally disabled the difficulty scaling, so the game wasn't getting any harder. So... 10 million is the best I could do while I was cheating; Absolutely no idea how anyone got 30 million points! Guess I made what I was trying to make, haha! ^^

Wow, I really love that one!
Wonderful Main Menu transitions, personally I dislike the flashy colours as it hurts the eyes a bit but it's fine

The game - boii, you and (if you have one) your Team did a very good job, Tutorial was very nice and insightful while having it written in a nice manner as if the game has a backstory

The game progression is very nice and dynamics are awesome, the only thing I was missing is using spacebar to jump but I got used to use RMB and walls instead :)

Variety of weapons + loadouts, multiple enemies, many possibilities for play style, combo system is very neatly implemented - it's actually kinda outstanding in your game as it's based on multiple factors

And you've protected the game from abusers like me xD I was trying to spam mouse button and get into wall but soon after the input stops responding for 1-2 seconds, well done!

Gamemplay -5/5 - just love it!
Theme - 5/5 as you need the momentum to keep going
Aesthetics - 5/5 - very simple, yet effective, won't degrade any stars for the flashy main menu but it's something to be changed imo :) (at least less bright colors)
Sound - 5/5 - good sound selection, nothing was annoying and even if - we've got settings to change it :)

Seriously - for 3 days Jam this game has been made very well, respect! It's very cool and addictive!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! ^^
Just me, no team on this one, haha.
And yeah, I can see how the menu is a little bright, might make sense to add some kind of dark mode if I were to work on this further.

i cant express how much i like the name of this game, very original, and i liked the fast pace style of the game! the sound was good too

Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

Fast, sassy, great job. But why not mutations?

Developer(+1)

The theme of the game jam was announced as "Momentum" because of a mistake from the hosts of the jam, before they changed it to the correct theme, "Mutation". So I started making a game about momentum, and didn't see the theme change until it was too late to restart the game. Glad you liked it though! ^^

It feels and look polished, I’m super impress, this was done in 3 days! Not just that, the gameplay is fun and has a learning curve which when master will feel rewarding.

Developer

Really glad you liked it! I tried to really focus on making as high of a skill ceiling as possible with only a couple of mechanics, focusing on depth and quality above quantity. Thanks for playing! ^^

Loved your game!!! I've got my theoretical money on it

Developer(+1)

Really glad you liked it! Going for one of the top three spots, wish me luck! ^^

Awesome game! I think the movement (specifically the dash) can be a bit finnicky but other than that it plays great

Developer

What was finicky about it? I'd love to hear more specific feedback, if you happen to get the time. Thanks for playing though, glad you enjoyed it! ^^

Submitted

No problem! the dash feels delayed, maybe it's just me but after right clicking it takes about a second for it to dash which feels kind of off, it also bothered me that I couldn't use space to jump but that's understandable for a game jam game, lastly I think the weapons push you a bit too far, it can be cool but if i'm trying to get a simple kill being launched very far can be annoying sometimes, most of these are nitpicky and overall the gameplay felt nice

Submitted

So good! As others have said, super addicting and really well polished. I could see myself sinking tons of hours into this gem!

Developer

Really glad you liked it! Worked super hard on it! ^^

Great job! Everything about the game feels fun and smooth to play! It is smooth like butter! I agree with PieroTechnical, one of my favorites from the jam!

Developer

Thank you so much, really glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted (1 edit)

Excellent work! I found it insanely addictive. The controls, the audio, and the minimalistic aesthetic all come together really well. One of my favourites from this jam.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Really glad you found it fun!

Well made with very snappy controls. I think that some more actively antagonistic soul colors other than yellow could be interesting, although I undertsand the simplicity and control that it allows for.

Developer

There is one other, that being Purple, which has a railgun attack. Definitely agree though! My main consideration making this was that I didn't want enemies to feel unfair to the player, so I leaned on the safer side when it came to enemy attacks. Definitely something to consider for the future though!
