Incredible concept and a great execution, especially for only 72 hours. My one thought is this: should the player be force to start at the beginning of the maze each time? I realize that by traveling to adjacent tiles I accumulate more points but it felt like I could negate some of my bad decisions if I wanted by placing easy tiles down, whereas if I was forced to start at the beginning each time, it might make me play through my decisions (good or bad). Either way, this is a fantastic entry and you should be very proud!
I'm glad you liked it!
If by always starting at begining you mean that start tile never changes is location I did consider that. It felt too repetitive as I could always go exactly the same path all the time with very little incemental change for all levels. Then I thought it could change every 10 levels or so but ended up with current system. It felt beter even though not by much.
I should come up with more interesting tiles and effect for update.
I love how it is a maze puzzle AND an escape game :)
Very nice to see a puzzle leaderboard game which is also playable and enjoyable! It's already very solid, just need a little more polish. And also has a huge potential to explore other ideas (e.g. already mentioned multiplayer).
Running through all the tiles for the points feel a little tedious, but I don't have a quick solution out of my head and yours give a feel of fair competition.
Good work!
Hmm I think the idea is quite interesting but imo it'd be really interesting if made multiplayer. Kind of like the board game Tsuro where you can place tiles that'd affect you and the others as well. Also I guess the game should not let players softlock themselves. Other than that it's a good game considering the time constraints! Nice work!
Great idea! works pretty well too, though it feels like it can be a bit cheated by just going in a straight line and running as soon as the tile is placed
Such a great concept! I started playing confused and ended up addicted haha
Oh, I love games with long-term decisions, where mistakes come back to bite you several turns later. Cool idea. The "block bullets with walls" puzzle is very engaging.
If you are interested in further developing this idea, I would suggest forcing players to choose dangerous blocks more often. For example, if you make it in separate levels, you can add a number of blocks to use and beat some score. It will also be a good way to introduce new blocks, btw.
Thanks! I'm glad you loved it! I will defenetly play around with this for a bit.
I had an idea of putting tiles in different groups like safe and dangerous ones and make one option be always be safe, other be danger and third could be any and evey 5 levels or so all choices would be dangerous but I didn't feel like I made enough unique tiles yet. Also time constraint.
Very creative idea, it made me think this could evolve into that type of local multiplayer game that two people compete to find the exit making the path harder to each other. The sounds helped a lot in the whole juiciness. Good game!
It's an interesting idea, first round it was pretty hard to understand what was happening and when the new tiles are going to spawn, but the second one was a lot better. You could add some more towers in the future like a tower that slows you down or a tile that does that. Nice work!
I love the concept! It's a little bit confusing the first time you play, but when you get the hang of it you find it has a really interesting gameplay loop!
Quite an interesting idea! I scored 62 then managed to trap myself on a single square and had to forfiet lol
