I love the aesthetic of this game so much, and all the little UI details. That is one of the coolest minimaps I have ever seen. The whole experience was very creepy and I enjoyed it a lot.

Got goobed a few times but got there in the end. Reminded me of the Slender games, very spooky. My poor heart. Grateful for the freaky laughing and glowing bodies of the goobies making their locations clear, not so much for what happens up close... The TV pause menu was a nice touch! Great aesthetic.
I hate this game. It's VERY SCARY. So mission accomplished haha. There seems to be an issue with the ai though like they stay still until the player gets close and than when the player runs far enough away and they stop chasing THEN they start moving around and pathfinding. There were a few moments where for example a gooby (goober? goobie?) was in front of the artifact (collectable) and I was unable to go past it and the only option was to get close and hope it didn't kill you. I managed to do this for the first 3 sections after several attempts but at the maze it just got too difficult for me. Plus by then I was pretty spooked haha. Very scary! Great job! Giving the player little info on the gooby people and making them look harmless, giving the player a very dark fov (but not quite too dark), and adding the 'creepy' (but insanely necessary and helpful) hand drawn map, all greatly enhance the scares and gameplay.
If you are within their vision range, they will approach and "stalk" you until they are at their stalk range. Their light turns out and they stop moving when they're stalking you! However, Goobies are not particularly patient and will lunge if you don't step into their range within a certain amount of time after them stalking you. They each have personalities, so the range of their vision and hearing , how far they like to stalk you, and how often they skip straight to attacking instead of ever stalking depends on the Goobie. Gibby is pretty crotchety, while Gabby is a big fan of staring at you across an open field!
Extremely creepy, perhaps the sensitivity of the mouse is a bit high, but otherwise the effect of noise on the TV screen is very good, and in general the atmosphere of a cursed children's tv program. Well done!
11/10 will never be making another friend. The audio was amazing and the vibe was genuinely creepy. Good job :D
This is so weird! I loved that it got suddenly dark. I wish the music also changed tone, it was chill and cheerful in a way that clashed with the atomsphere. The areas are really diverse, a lot of work clearly went into this game and it shows. The animations are great too. I couldn't complete it, I got slapped a couple times but I liked this, great job!
Goobies(tm) were purpose-built for friendliness and hugging! All the following behaviors are within JudCorp(tm) design specifications:
- Hugging!
- Pillow fight action (fluffy slaps!)
- Encouragement!
Any side effects of these behaviors are entirely within specifications and part of the waiver you signed upon entry to the park. If a visitor has entered the park and avoided/failed at signing the waiver, JudCorp(tm) takes no responsibility for any accidental mirth or mirth-adjacent byproducts created as a result.
Nice visuals, although the world feels a little bit "empty" it was still fun to move around :)
That's kind of the point! It's supposed to feel empty, because kid's shows like Telletubbies and Yo Gabba Gabba tend to be totally vapid. They have one object in the center of frame like a giant flower or something, so that kids solely focus on that thing and there's almost no opportunity for them to be distracted.
Similarly, we wanted the world to feel varied, so we included a bunch of different areas, but it was good that stuff didn't necessarily make sense. This kind of TV show really doesn't make sense!
Best game I've played so far! Got all 4 pieces but couldn't manage to build the friend. Loved the overall aesthetic of the game. With twisted nursery rhyme music playing, it really set the mood. My only critique was that there was a lot of time spent walking between the different zones with not a lot happening. But apart from that, excellent submission!
Thank you so much! And awesome job and finding our friends pieces! We'll be playing with the sprint mechanics a bit more over the next week and hopefully finding a way to alleviate the drudge between areas. We let the scope of the map scale get a little away from us in this project and didn't get enough time to play test before the last day.
