Nice fun game here, sorry to rate it so late, but it is very fun, I liked getting good at dodging attacks and pelting demons with a shotgun. As others have said the enemies could use more reactions to getting hit, as you can't distinguish between a non-lethal shot and a miss. Great graphics and good audio. I like cheese.

The little secret places you can find ammo were a nice touch, I felt properly curious about looking around corners after the initial ammo I found during the tutorial area. The tutorial text was also well done; I just did a giant wall of text for mine, lol. Although, some of them were a bit close; due to my speed I'd walk right into them before they appear then I'd have to back up a bit (small UX nitpick).

I would have liked to have seen a little more polish with enemies taking damage, such as a hit sound or particles, etc. I feel the shotgun should have taken longer to reload and then done more damage to balance. It felt more like a pellet gun.

Unironically gorgeous graphics. You really nailed the retro horror game look in my opinion. Sound was good too, the theme music and low bitrate grunts fit perfectly.

Cool submission.

Thanks for the feedback, unfortunately the enemy reaction animation and sound broke and I didn't have time to fix. Also I think you're right about the shotgun.

Very cool to use the grid layout then add your material to make the map. Also i jumped when i ran into a locked door and turned to see them surrounding me lol. The cheese sound effect was great mmm

Developer(+1)

Yeah, we just used cube grid in engine, and slapped world-aligned materials on everything, It was fairly quick to work with

I really enjoyed playing the game. I liked that you chose to do the interaction with things by proximity, a “Press E” to interact would have been much worse.

Great work!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed : )
Just using overlap boxes makes it feel more like classic shooters and has the added benefit of being simpler and more intuitive for the player (and easier to make in a week lol, less can go wrong)

Very good leveldesign! I enjoy playing this game. But sometimes was something wrong with shooting( btw i like visual style and sounds of this game!

literally doom if it was good

Sick game! Love the aesthetics

Thanks a lot!

Thoroughly enjoyed! Level design was fun, boss wasn't a slog, well-tuned difficulty: had a nice 10 minutes playing this!

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear it!!

It's great boomer shooter.  Familiar sounds,  good game controls, lovely style and  cool level design is what makes this game great.

Mmm, the giant cheese taste's good xD

Developer

I'm so glad you liked it : )

Good game, reminded me of Serious Sam, especially the sounds of jumping. The graphics are cool. But there are a couple of things that can be improved:

1) The crossbow is received later than the shotgun, but it feels weaker because of:

- Deals the same damage (needs two shots for radiation);

- Reloads longer than the shotgun;

- Only one bolt in the clip;

- The bolt drops too much with distance; There is no piercing effect like the shotgun, when you can kill him with one shot at once;

2) Enemies often can't do anything if the player is on top (or in any other unreachable place), I think in such cases they can be added to throw projectiles at the player;

3) The secret next to the lava is cool, but there is no death collider there. I also noticed that if after getting the crossbow you return to the same room with lava and collect resources from above in the passage before the purple key, you won't be able to go back.

Overall, I liked it, good job!

Developer(+1)

Hey, great feedback! Especially the game breaking oversight about the lava room room, didn't think of that... Thanks!

An other boomer shooter in the jam ? Hell yeah!

That was pretty cool, love the cheese sounds! 1 000 000 damage on the lava is neat ;)

Developer(+1)

He's here to kick ass and chew cheese. And, fortunately, there's a lot of that here.

I really loved the aesthetic a lot! The idea of a cheese-loving protagonist is amazing too, like Doomguy meets Wallace from Wallace and Grommit! I did have some trouble getting far into the level, but what I experienced did have very decent game feel.

Glad to hear it! Thanks for playing!

I loved the graphics, but the gunplay didn't quite hit for me

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!!

Love the graphics!!

Didn't get far at all though so can't say much on content. The balance seems a bit off imo, too many enemies swarm at once and are too fast. Even when I pick up more than 2 bullets, it seems like the number doesn't change.

Great job nonetheless, really impressive for 1 week!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! It's definitely a kite shooter
