Really nice atmosphere you got here! You're right, the procedural generation was pretty similar to the one in our game haha ^^^
I like the simplicity of the creepy dude, personally I find shadows much scarier than monsters. The maze is quite big, not sure how you did to optimize the framerate, I had problems with that at some point :D
Managed to find the badge and the elevator! Can't help but try to guess which tech and algorithm you used as it was a similar idea!
Great job!
This was a pretty fun and interesting game, happy to say I got out without getting caught. I think the atmosphere is pretty good and I like the sound effects as the monster approaches. The goal of the game is straightforward which I think works well for this. I liked that you could find pills to increase the time until getting caught. I really liked that the monster apparently steals your stuff and doesn't make you restart (which I realized after playing by reading other comments).
It's cool that you created a random level generator! I will say it's pretty tricky to navigate as the halls and rooms can start to look samey. On one hand I sort of like that since it's easier to get lost and increases tension/horror. On the other hand, it can start to become a bit frustrating. Maybe in an update at least a few more notable landmarks can be added to the random generation to help with navigation just a bit. That and maybe making it just a bit more believable as a space with some more props or something.
Overall great submission, good job!
Hey good job and thanks a ton for playing!
One of the main pieces of cut content in this jam was the adding of wear stages, where each room would be generated in Mint, Good, Mid, or Bad condition, which would affect the textures and props, adding more variety in the level. More props in general were also cut cuz, well, game jam moment.
Interesting, pretty scary and atmospheric, although it's a bit difficult to understand what to do, when mr.Blueface steals your stuff at first. Thankfully, there still was a way to get away!
First time I played, I got attacked by an enemy, which I think made the screw driver I was holding vanish. I could not find another, so I restarted. The level was indeed different; significantly different in fact! I found the level generated on my second attempt much more complex and hard to navigate, but I stuck to it and made it to the end! I wonder if I got exceedingly lucky because I found the badge directly in front of the escape elevator.
Great game! Excellent work on the visuals and audio. I found myself wanting a map, but then again getting lost seemed like part of the intended experience.
Very cool atmosphere!
I struggled a bit with only having one object in my hand but it definitely kept me super tense haha
Great job overall!
I really liked the voice acting. Voice Acting in Game Jams are few and far between. Unfortunately, i wasn't able to finish the game. I have an extremely poor sense of direction, usually its not that bad, but when the corridors are too similar, I simply couldn't find my way back to the elevator after getting the key card. It was a full 10 minutes of running around aimlessly. Really enjoyed the first encounter, the sound coming from above thumping really spooked me. Had to get to a 90 degrees corner out of reflex alone.
Im putting this here just to let you know but I won't take this into consideration when rating. When I played it, it ran extremely poorly on my machine, the mouse movement lagged a full second behind and the fps was struggling. This didn't effect my gameplay too much however, It was still playable for me.
loved the atmosphere, and the sounds are really good, it was not easy to play late at night lol :D enjoyed this very much, good work!
Sound design was fantastic! Really liked how you would emit sounds above the ceilings or behind walls, added to the creepy atmosphere. The congratulations screen at the end of the game startled me in the best way lol
I'm not gonna lie, the thing and ambient noises got me, it was all fun and games until I was just booking it to the elevator lol. Maybe I missed the controls info, but I must say it added to the panic when I was just pressing every button I can to get the screwdriver to work.
Good work on this.
Very well produced game! Got genuinely scared when the first ghost entered my peripheral vision. Great visuals, audio and sense of atmosphere.
Good game! True, I don't know if I was the only one who had this problem or not, but it was very slow to move the mouse in the browser version, maybe something is wrong with the mouse sensitivity :(
But other than that it's not bad! The voice acting is good!
Really chilling atmosphere! Great voice acting and the sfx really immersed me into the game and had me questioning my existence the whole time! Definitely got spooked more then once, Great job guys
I liked the backroom-esque map design and the effects added during the sanity loss.
Good work with the voice over.
Hee-ho. Cool atmosphere and vibe. For my opinion, monster isn't really scary, because it doesn't harm you. And I had an issue with elevator card, it disappeared from my hand and could not leave
Hey I remember you from the Brackey's jam, you always say hee-hoo in front of everything. Funny that we both chose this jam after.
Yeah the scary was focused less on the monster and more on the general slipping sanity & effects. When did the card disappear? I thought I had fixed a glitch with items deleting themselves.
Thanks for playin!
Wow! the atmosphere and effects were amazing. The disorientation made me more immersed and captured horror of being watched!
I liked the atmosphere and the voice over responding to things, but I couldn’t work out the controls. Playing on the web version I eventually managed to open the door (no idea how) but I was unable to pick anything up.
Looks like some decent work went into this game and others had better luck than me, good job!
Thanks, apologies if it would be finnicky (dunno why). Left click should open doors.
spooky!!! oh and the voiceover!! love how much went into this game considering it's for a game jam and it fits theme so well. Also the visual effects and randomly generated levels, all of it add so much to experience. COngrats on delivering it!
Damn, this game literally made me crap my pants! The way the effect of the main character losing his mind is done is just amazing. Every time an episode starts, I’m thinking, "Oh no, not this, not again." I really loved the game! I also want to highlight the voice acting — the way the character comments on what’s happening, especially during the episodes, is really well done. I found a screwdriver, pills, and a key card all in one spot on the map; not sure if that’s a bug or a feature. I think I picked everything up, but when I got back to the elevator, I couldn’t figure out how to switch between items. Did I do something wrong?
Thanks a bunch!
Well you got lucky and unlucky--since the map is procedurally generated, you can just find everything in the same spot rarely. That said, it appears the game has a bug that destroys items when you pick up one while holding one. Sorry, you deserved to win there but it ended up being softlocked. Because they allow two days for bug fixes, I am updating the game to fix this (it was one missing return false; statement). Sorry 'bout that!
the visuals were nice, the procedural generation is impressive though a lot of the rooms are empty or similar so i got a little lost LOL. I also didn't figure out how to carry more than one item, if there was a way. I picked up two badges for the elevator and a screw driver but couldn't open it, not realizing i didn't have the screwdriver anymore. the audio accompanying the scares is very nice, very eerie. great work, i'd love to see this expanded at all
i love the post proccess effect, it is cool
