To echo some of the other comments, I found myself fighting with the controls at times. The mechanics were great but I had a bit of trouble with the actual gameplay.
Love the lil slime, though he could be even squashier and stretchier. I got stuck on the third? fourth? level, the (first?) one with a blue teleporter thing and threw in the towel after quite some attempts. Training myself to jump before inputting the direction I wanted from the wall was really confusing, I find sticky wall jumps in general feel like a lack of control but getting the right height for that first jump on that level without accidentally sticking to the very top of the platform was rather difficult, sometimes would literally get stuck in place on top of the middle of it which I didn’t understand. And then clearing out all those blocks is tedious because you have to back up before being allowed to use the left click dash.
so I don’t know how much I missed, but I was enjoying it well enough despite feeling like I was fighting for control of my character. Music was good but got a little repetitive. All in all a really solid game though, just on the hard side for a jam. Great work though :)
Yea haha definitely wanted to crank the difficulty for this game a bit. Maybe went a bit too far! Thanks for all the good feedback tho it’s great insight for what i can adjust next jam! :D
I like the gameplay revolving around the very powerful horizontal and vertical dashes. Wished there were some checkpoints to keep the game flowing and not have to restart all the way at the beginning. I also like the wall jump animation! The writing on the tutorial was funny too. Nice work!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! Definitely keeping more checkpoints in mind for next jam :D:D
Great tight controls. Nice cover art too!!
Glad I put some more appealing cover art lolol, originally it was just one of the lizard sprites with a white background :0 Thanks for playin!
Cool idea! I like the quick dash, the simple trail does a lot for visual indication, even if it’s super quick. Snappy controls, I like it!
Thank you! Was gonna make the visual trail a bit visually appealing instead of just a big rectangle, but only so much can be done in a game jam. Glad you like it!
NICE work, loved the gameplay.
Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it :D
I like the idea of the game, the controls are a bit finnicky, but I got used to them after a little while, overall the game is pretty good!
Thanks! I've definitely learned quick that mapping controls is not my strong suit rn XD
Really fun platforming experience. And some well thought out level design. On the controls I struggled quite a bit wrapping my head around the second section there's something about the mouse that wasn't sinking in. If I could try a different layout I would assign horizontal dash to the arrows and remove the need to have A & D input while pressing and add vertical dash and slam to the up and down arrows.
Its a little thing but the lizard eye charge indicator is really good as well! that's a cool obstacle.
Thanks! I'm definitely reconsidering a lot of the keybinds since publishing this, since I got so used to the mouse controls that I forgot they're a little confusing lolol. Glad you enjoyed it!
The music is so good! Funky!! Having to juggle two abilities so quickly is challenging but feels super rewarding. I love the fire breathing lizard so much and I wish there were more lizards.
Great job, I’m glad I got to check it out.
Thanks so much! The lizard was definitely my favorite sprite to draw. Now I'm gonna have to resist the urge to put lizards in every game I make >:)
I feel that the collisions are very big, and you shuld add the horizontal dash also in the ground, but great job ^^
ah, I remember taking out the horizontal dash on the ground so that people don't spam it over and over, but honestly it does make more sense to leave it in. Thanks for playin!
Ah! The controls on this little game was so fun. I really liked the slime design as well! My only feedback was that I found the green screen at the beginning confusing since it had no dialogue, I thought my game broke. haha!
Haha thanks! There should be text on the green screen, but for some reason itch.io hates me rn and removes it! Idk why, but as long as the game's playable it's not the end of the world. Thanks for playing!
A fun game! I like the slime and lizard animations. The controls are fairly unconventional. I keep getting confused between right-click and left-click. As has already been mentioned, the levels would benefit from being shorter or having checkpoints (I still managed to get to the end 😉).
Yea next time I participate in one of these I'll definitely make my games more checkpoint heavy. I guess after playing it so much while testing I forget the difficulty lolol. Glad you enjoyed!
Surprisingly fun game! wish it had more checkpoints, redoing old sections get a little frustrating.
All in all good job!
Definitely keepin that in mind for the next jam. Thanks for the feedback! :D
READ THIS!!!: the text on the very first screen should say “press space to begin” but for some reason it just won’t show up on itchio no matter what. Sorry about the confusion!
I like the music took a hot minute to figure out how to get past the green screen
Glad you figured it out! Glad you enjoyed the music, I had a lot of fun writing it :D
