Really good looking game! I loved the style the building looked really good, was EXTREMELY dark but that added to the fear, I found the power box almost immediately!
I think the game could have done with a bit more to it, I felt it was over super quick! Overall a nice looking game with potential!
Thanks for participating!

(rated by my daughter) It was simply overly dark, and make the gameplay difficult and thus less fun. There was definitely a lot of fear. The game might have looked better if it was possible to see!
I'm sorry your daughter did not find my little game fun but I am glad it has fear vibes.
The lighting is not the final balance that I intended but, you know, game jam pressure. It's not entirely black (mostly) and if you use the flash from the gun to find your way guided by the hand prints, there is relief from the dark when you complete the objective, just stock up with the spare ammo first by loading it into the gun, ejecting and loading the next one (I meant to add more ammo by default, but, game jam time).
I would say that you definitely followed the idea of the theme. It was properly dark!
Things I liked:
- The atmosphere was sufficiently creepy. Even without any jump scares, I was getting freaked out.
- Firing the gun for light was a great mechanic.
- The small amount of light really added to the environment.
Some Notes:
- It was a bit too dark at times. It's a hard balance to find, but since ammo is limited, it makes you want to conserve ammo, and you end up choosing to wander in the dark.
- A camera flash may have worked better here. It would get rid of the ammo mechanic, which had a few bugs. The camera could also display what you just took a picture of, adding to the creepiness.
- I couldn't climb the stairs. I did see you mention that you need to teleport in the comments. I didn't know that was and option, so sorry for missing that.
Overall... creepy. You really nailed the theme of being afraid of the dark, because I did not want to go down the dark corridors that you made.
Thanks for a great entry!
After reading BBIT's response I realized the ammo counter was an issue for me as well, I thought I had just run out of bullets. I turned on the light but I couldn't find the blue heads either. Very cool atmosphere, I sprinted through the whole thing as it was dark and spooky enough i wasn't trying to get jump scared. Great entry
That's a real "dark" game, lol. Think it fits perfectly for the theme.
At the first run i just tried to use the gun fire as flashlight from time to time. Saw that in your trailer, and think that's actually what we are supposed to do and what's a pretty clever game-mechanic. But not sure if it's a bug or intended, but the magazine which i took from behind my ears always had as much bullets as the one inside the gun. So, as soon as it reached 0 also the new magazines had no shots anymore...
So on the second run, tried to remember the way and after some time walking around nearly completely in the dark and a bit disoriented(i did not really see the blood in that darkness tbh^^), found the switch. That was actually pretty cool then, to discover what you before just could have imagined.
But somehow did not found these 2 blue heads... or at least they seemed not really "blue" after turning the lights on, so not sure, if i really have completed it yet?
All in all a very good looking (as soon as turned lights on), fun and somehow spooky experience. Great job for your first VR game :-)
Sorry about the ammo, it's not a bug though. There are 2 ammo counts, the clip count and how much is stored, you increase the stored amount by loading the found mags into the gun, it is a bit clumsy and pulling empty mags from stored is not cool. So thanks, I will improve on that system. The heads are on the upper levels.
Great job at creating the terrifying atmosphere! I was afraid that something would jump out and scare me when I was looking for the light switch 😨
Nice job. I liked the maze of rooms to explore. I also really like the random props like the statue. The style of the rooms was excellent. I enjoyed finding the lights switches - it was so dark initially until I found the first one. Then it all fit together. The sounds and music was excellent. I dropped couple of the clips and could not get them from the ground. Also I was not sure what the gun was intended for. Still great game! Thanks.
Just tried this, but it was really dark and I couldn't what was happening, can't see the blood trails at all. Am I missing something, like a torch perhaps? I'm playing standalone on the Quest... I haven't submitted a rating yet because I could be missing something, so I wanted to ask - is there a torch to pick up, or is there something else that I'm missing? Thanks!
Hi, thanks for holding off. There are bloody hand prints on the walls pointing in the direction you need to go. The gun emits a flash of light when fired. The baking of the lightmaps was a bit of a faff to get working so I just had to publish where I had got to. Perceptually the Mobile version looks darker than the PC when I was testing with my Q2 with a link cable, but they are playable as it is not totally blacked out. Just don't drop your gun as I haven't sorted out distance grabbing!
This one is solid. There's obviously not much to it, but the foundation is really great. The controller felt great, snap turning really helped my VR legs/stomach. The ammo clip mechanic worked well. Lighting was great. No performance issues. I found the objectives. Something to consider: allow the player to leave a mark/smear on the walls they pass by, for those who are absolutely terrible at mazes. I tried putting the mannequin back together, but that didn't work. I really thought that lion statue was going to do something. Interactable pylons in VR games for the win. :) I'd love to have a crouch mechanic with the controller so I don't smash my headset on my desk, lol (I have a limited play area), and a sprint mechanic as well.
