Overall fun~

The narration in the intro and ending felt slightly too long, but once we get to run, it's not bad!

The PRIDE TIME collectibles are a bit too "in your face" for my taste, but that aside, like wow it's so colourful! These details put into the obstacles and passing characters. Kutaka's animations, wow!! Everything looks so lively, I almost felt sensory overload (in a good way).

Developer

Thank you!! I really enjoyed making all the obstacles and Kutaka's animations and trying to make them as lively as I could, so your comment is much appreciated. All the colors are thanks to that amazing PAX-24 palette; honestly I couldn't have done it myself! Also thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you had fun!

I see cute chicken goddess, I am satisfied. This is so adorable and the art looks amazing!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The chicken goddess appreciates it.

A beautiful gameplay, but the timing of the story doesn't feel quite right, I think it should be a little shorter, or include a tutorial level, just to break the ice and introduce you to the game.

The gameplay part is excellent, but the pride part doesn't feel quite right, it's just weird to be rewarded just like that, a little bit of challenge would be appreciated. Never played cookie run before, but I must say it's an awesome tribute if is as fun as this one.

Also, it's awesome to have hispanic representation, it would be nice to have the story translated as well. But great work overall!

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I understand what you mean about the story's pacing. We wanted to at least add illustrations for it but ran out of time. Playing levels between the story sections is a good idea.

Regarding Pride Time, Luyuu's comment did leave me thinking about it and I agree that the letters should have been harder to get. I'm also thinking that the Pride Time levels could have jumping sections to make them a bit less straightforward and more rewarding when you reach the end.

And, yay! Yeah, we wanted to translate the story into Spanish but didn't manage to do so on time. It's definitely coming though, I'm gonna ask Hyn about the translation! Like I commented in "As the light flickers", hopefully we get more games in Spanish in future jams.

I watched a bit of your stream's recording the other day -- thanks for playing and I'm glad you had fun!

I really loved playing this, reminded me of old nitrome games in the best way. Its very polished! The sprites are super adorable and the story was simple and sweet, though it was mainly told through plain text. The difficulty curve is nice and smooth also! Awesome job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Hehe, it makes me happy to know that it reminds me you of Nitrome games, and I'm glad to hear that about the difficulty.

My favourite thing about this runner is the incredibly unique stage design. From the different types of platforms to the character cameos, every level of this game is handcrafted with love and dedication, and maybe a rainbow-coloured bus thrown into the mix.

Presentation and music are also very cute. Good work on the game overall!!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, I (and I'm sure the rest of the team too) really appreciate your comment!!

This would have been a hit on cell phones in 2009, which is good, I promise! Simple controls that are easy to pick up, with challenges which felt appropriate. The art work is wonderful, to the point where I was often distracted by it! (Skill issue, I know.) Someone else in here said some cut scenes would be nice, and I agree, but as is, this is a product to be proud of!

Developer

Thank you! Ohh back when I had a Nokia I played so many of those old school phone games, and Hyn is a huge fan of 2000s flip phones -- we really appreciate your comment.

Fantastic work! A simple concept that still manages to hit the sweet spot with the difficulty. I like how you've added cool details to each level (like unique obstacles such as Marisa getting chased by Alice). It really adds to the charm of the game.

The story's pretty good too, though I think a little bit of art (like a storybook) would make it feel a lot better. I understand that this might be something you've cut due to time constraints, though, so maybe it's something you could add in the future if you'd like?

Developer

Thank you! Oh I'm glad to hear that about the difficulty; I rushed to make the levels in the last two days so I worried they would need more balancing.

Hehe I had a lot of fun making those obstacles.

And, yes, exactly! Hyn wanted to make illustrations for the story, but both of us were so busy, especially the last day... I'm not sure when, but we definitely want to add that.

Nice sidescrolling runner with a cute aesthetic. Great music and art-- the art style in particular reminds me of those really cool Nitrome flash games.

I liked the various obstacles (like Marisa and that bus), and how you sometimes had to think on your feet to dodge them. One thing I noticed is the PRIDETIME letters are really really easy to get. Seems like they're supposed to be an intentional break in the action, but gameplay-wise I don't fully see the point of it. Even so, I welcome the inclusion, since the art and music for the bonus level is so nice.

In short, 'twas pleasant and polished.

Developer

Thanks! Oh wow, Nitrome! I used to play many of their games as a kid, so it makes me very happy to know that it reminded you of them. I most enjoyed the multiplayer ones. Maybe for a future jam I'll try a multiplayer game in the same vein... And once again shoutout to WarxTron, her music is fantastic.

Yeah, I agree; at first I thought of making the letters harder to get, or putting them in alternate paths, but given how short the game is I feared some players would miss Pride Time entirely in the later stages. It's harder to try not to get them all, heh.

Running around collecting corn & bugs while occasionally going into the clouds for Pride Time is a quintessential part of the lesbian experience

Developer(+1)

Haha thank you!!

An endless runner with the benefits that handcrafted levels give, so not quite literally endless. Fun game, went for what it was going for and Id say it succeeded pretty much everything it was trying to do. Thumbs up.

Developer

Thank you! So happy to hear that.

cool lil coin collector game i like all the pixels and the random cameos. powerups are neat and levels are a fair length

it is kinda weird how only the head is capable of picking things up. i get why but visually it just doesnt really work. maybe if she was holding a basket up to her head it would be like "grab things with the basket"

a clean runner with good levels

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your comment!

Thanks for your feedback. I think I understand. In Cookie Run, characters are slightly taller, and the difference between items on the floor and items at chest or head level is clearer -- I think it may be something along those lines.

i have never played cookie run and did not get the reference. apologies

probably makes immediate sense to those who have

Developer

Oh, it's fine, no need to apologize. Mhm, we took a lot of inspiration from Cookie Run OvenBreak (including that mechanic)

The more I played this game, the more I fell in love with it. The Story was funny, the gameplay was satisfying, and the art and music were just so darn charming. Absolutely phenomenal job.

Thank you very much!
