I love this SO much that when i first played it, i immediately started getting ideas and urges to make it better! It's fun, creative, especially the crosshairs on the lasers make it very easy to adjust the aiming. It instantly reminds me of games like Cosmoteer and I think it would become an amazing game if it gets an aimable laser prism inspired by that game. The screenshots are just begging for some complex laser action!

Thank you for the kind words! It certainly needs bigger lasers, I'm gonna try make a update tomorrow with one new laser type along with some extra VFX/SFX.

LETS GO MAP CLEARED!!!!!
Developer

That's some dedication! How long did it take?

Submitted

Idk honestly I didn't keep track of the time. But i think it was around 40-50 minutes

Really Nice Game, Fits The Theme Very well and I Love the art , Great Job!

Developer

Thanks a lot!

I really smiled getting that first laser and seeing how big it was, very satisfying. If I had more time i think I could have cleared the map. great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I really wanted big lasers so you had to make "free space" in order to place them. And regarding clearing out the whole map, A friend of mine did that: 5900 tiles and it took 55 minutes.

The music, graphics and idea were all awesome! The gameplay however... was also awesome!

Developer

Had me in the first half ngl. Haha, but thank you!

Really cool idea. I didn't expect pixel art this pretty for a game made in 6 hours and the music is cool ! I like the simple gameplay really well executed, I'm curious how you made the lasers sized by how far is the wall (staying in pixel art) and the adaptative tilemap (walls change if there is another wall broken next to it) so quick, could you please tell me how you did it ? Anyway great game, really good job !

Thank you! I use raycasts to determine the length, then a Line2D node for rendering the beam. By setting the scaling mode (in project settings) to viewport and using a low resultion the beam gets pixelated automatically!

For the adaptive terrain I used tilemaps with the autotilling/terrain system. Creating the art for the tileset can take a lot of time but I've made my own tool for speeding up that process significally.

But in short, the things you're asking about are all more or less built into Godot.

I didn't know the Line2D node and the autotilling ability of the tilemap, I will look into it. Thank you very much for your answers !

Yeaaaah, realizing I could move the lasers around definitely made a big difference. I know you put the crosshair on them and had it in the instructions but somehow I completely missed it at first.  And using the lasers to clear things out IS satisfuing. Clever mechanic and being a badger is underrated so thats also a plus.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Quite a few people have told me about having difficulty finding out that you can redirect the lasers, I will make some kind of tutorial animation on them in an update. Also the reason for picking a Badger is that I'm terrible at drawing humans.

lasers are really satisfying to use

Developer

Thank you! I wanted to make them have a kinda electrical ambient noise too but I had gone overtime enough already.

I like your game, I played a while before I understand we can move the lazer beams 😂

The music is so chill and fit to the game, nice work!

Developer

Thank you! Good that you found out about the aiming after a bit, better late then never. I had the music laying around since earlier, I'm really happy with how well it fit.

honestly i tought it was kinda lame until i realized that you can reangle the lazers,

the graphics and audio are top-notch

Developer

I see, perhaps I should have made the aims clearer. But I'm happy that you noticed them in the end.

Fun little game! Excellent graphics and music.

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it

This was fun to play! It definitely fits the theme well, and feels very polished for what's there so far!

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it

Reaaaally enjooooooyed it ! and I am happy to be the first to play it, first destroying your drill with another drill directed to it was unexpected and added some strategy to placing them, and the ability to continue after 1000 was another surprise. Great Job !

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I felt like it would be highly unrealistic and feel unresponsive if the laser couldn't damage other lasers and the player, so I added it. And considering there is a lot of stone left even after 1000 tiles I knew some people would want to continue playing. At the moment of writing this, a friend is playing the game and is trying to clear out the entire game area. He is at 5500 tiles out of around 6000 and has played for 45 minutes.
