I really loved the literary fiction feel this had!! Wonderful story telling that really got me hooked right from the beginning!
Thank you!! :)
I swear I felt like I was back in English Lit class in all the best ways possible. Artistic, realized, ruminating--I'm carrying a piece of this game with me in anything I create moving forward... (ᵕ́ ー ᵕ́)
(I also very much enjoy all the math talk from Pierce, had me LOCKED IN.)
Thank you so much!! :)
I love games that create mounting dread with sparse audio and stark images (think Signalis). This scratched that itch for me! It almost felt like I was reading a stage play at times, and I leaned forward in my seat to see what came next. Excellent work!
Thank you so much for playing!! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
What a whole mood this was. Loved the presentation.
Thank you!! :)
Great narrative that hooked me in almost immediately. Loved the prose and direction for telling this story. Great job!
Thank you! :)
I had never truly been one for a novel in this sense for a time period like this, but this story was so beautifully written and told that I got completely absorbed into the world. I was reading word for word with my face an inch from my computer while invested lol! The music compliments perfectly, and pushes me deeper into the world rather than distracting me from it. Amazing writing, thank you for the experience.
Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Fantastic narrative that really sucked me in and made me feel!
I enjoyed the backgrounds and their abstract nature, as well as how I feel the colours complement the story.
Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed the narrative and the backgrounds :)
Yesterday I had to save and quit the game before I could finish it, and I spent the evening thinking about A House of Endless Windows. I did ultimately finish it. This is a visual novel that knows exactly what it wants and how to get it, and from the get-go it convinced me I needed to see it through. It’s a powerful cast of characters all well-realized, and all the dialogue is so tantalizingly platitudinous — the tension between what is being said and what is known or feared is palpable in every single scene. Also worth mentioning this is almost exclusively a solo effort with original art and music. And as a result, everything complements everything. I am thoroughly captivated by all of it.
Thank you so much for the kind comments! I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed it.
My pleasure! : )
Woah, I loved this. The music and art really added a lot to the overall atmosphere and the writing style was fantastic!
Thank you for playing! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the music and art :)
You did a really great job of setting up the atmosphere! The tension between what Pierce "knows" to be true vs what he's currently seeing shines through in how unsettling it is. And (trying to avoid spoilers as much as I can) it's really interesting how the family dynamic isn't repaired--that no matter what the intentions were, trauma can't easily be washed away. The POV language in the narration really helps cement how much Pierce was affected.
Thank you so much for playing! It makes me happy to hear that a lot of what I was going for with the atmosphere and tensions in the story came across.
Absolutely beautiful.
Just one comment: I sometimes found it hard to follow, not understanding straight away whether some sentences were dialogue or narration. If that's not a deliberate effect, perhaps you could very, very slightly grey out the narration to make it more distinct from the lines?
Thank you so much for playing! I'll be sure to keep that idea about changing the style of the narration text in mind for the future :)
