I had a lot fun playing this. Everything from the level design to the art style (though, as I said in another game with similar pixel art, I do like to have more colors, but that's just my personal taste) is great. It has those VVVVV vibes and made me wish for a bigger games with bosses and all.
So I do get the "turning up the heat" from the fact that we're in lava cave. Does the "multi-use" stems from the shoe that's also a weapon ?

Overall its a fun game. Good job putting this much in a game jam. I love the art style.

Very impressive! Probably my favorite entry so far. I really liked sounds and music, and the gameplay is really good. Maybe i would add a little bit of jump buffer so that misscalculating jumps is less punitive.

This was an incredible game! I can't believe how much you were able to accomplish in 10 days. This is definitely something to be proud of. It is one of my favorites of the jam so far. The music was great and not too repetitive, the sound effects were fun, and visuals were consistent. I think maybe a slight screenshake would have given the game a bit more feel when hitting/killing enemies or being hit.
A little more in-game instruction would be helpful as well as more info as to what the items do when you pick them up. But I did see that information was available in the pause menu. I did not come across any strange bugs, but the spike hit boxes seemed a little big on the sides.
Like I said, amazing game. Very well done!

The artwork and the music were outstanding here. I didn't expect getting a whole new sound track when entering the new area. I love a good metroidvania and this definitely hits all the right spots.
Couple comments, the hitboxes on the jump "X" objects felt a little small and maybe some more feedback to show when the player is able to jump off of it would help.
Also I was playing on keyboard (my controller is busted) and there weren't any control prompts so I kind of had to figure out how to use the new items.
I did get all the items and got all the way through the game though. Great work!

Nice demo, especially aesthetically, but I couldn't finish it because the game said I had collected 5/4 items at the ending star :/.
Also, I don't know if I'm just dumb but I struggled to figure out the controls, and I couldn't open the pause menu (I see the game has controller support, maybe you forgot to set the keybindings on keyboard for pausing?).
Overall a really nice demo, but please post a list of the key bindings
