Super nice polish to the game; the sounds, animations, particles and intuitive diegetic menu all make the game feel like a fully fledged app already!
At first I found it pretty difficult when I got over round 10, but then I found a pretty cheesy way of getting all the asteroids by hovering the launchers just around the globe and blasting the asteroids miliseconds before impact. Although it was a ride to figure that out, once I did I kind of felt like I optimised the fun out of the game... haha.
I also thought it could be interesting to limit the amount of rockets players had, or have time between shots, to discourage a spray and pray... although that certainly was fun too.
And finally it could be cool to see a 360 assalut of comets, but I suppose that'd need to introduce other factors like sound to make players aware of where they were coming from.
Great little game! A bunch more levels and a few cosmetic variations and I could see this on the Quest store in no time.
This has to be the most satisfying gunplay in the jam! Those rocket launchers were silky smooth!!! So badass!! <3 <3 <3
If you find some time this weekend, please check out our game “Starship Minis” and leave a comment to let us know what you think! https://itch.io/jam/vr-jam-2021/rate/1145490
Thanks and congrats on completing the jam!!
Thank you, glad you liked it! Yea I will absolutely try Starship Minis as well, thanks.
Very solid entry! The feel of the game is well done! You did an amazing job with the weapons and the projectiles! I'm wondering if you used physics for the projectiles? or regular transform positioning?
Thank you, glad you liked it! Yeah the projectiles does have a rigidbody component and AddForce(transform.forward * speed) is applied to them.
I saved the SMALL WORLD!!! Love this game well done!
Thanks! awesome that the small world didn't get destroyed :D
Had a blast (pun intended) spamming missles. I lost pretty quickly when the asteroids got fast, but a game with a challenge is always fun. Nice work, feels super polished and I love the art style/sound effects.
The mechanics work and its a fully playable game. Pretty fun too. Good job !
It's fun to play!
It sounds, look and is fun to play, I love it ! The 9nth wave caught me off guard, my planet got destroyed at wave 10 ! Nice job !
Great little game. Well polished, fun and has replay value. I must admit I couldn't get pass wave 10 :D
And fits with the theme very well!
This game looks great and really fun to play! Short and sweet!
Funny game, the difficulty to look all around is frustrating haha always forgetting one when it start to go fast. Would be fun to add more mecanics and patterns but the concept works and the theme is well respected ! GG
Excellent game! This is a perfect game jam game. Simple, straight to the point, everything works well, SFX, Menu and most of all fun!
Such a fun game! Great concept and well polished.
I had a good time with this one! The projectiles were very well done, so the rocket launchers were pretty fun to fire. It would’ve been cool if you could shoot the rockets into one another to create a larger area of effect.
If anyone else is looking to play, make sure you’re going with the Oculus App and not using SteamVR.
Felt nice and good! Well done!
Looks very clean!
polish! game looked great, sounded great and was fun to play.
interesting concept and was fun to play
Is it working for Valve Index? It won't find my controllers. Anyone else with same issue?
Unfortunately, there are some issues with the SteamVR and my XR Rig setup I guess. I need to check if I can find any solution.
What hardware/software setup did you use to develop this? My headset is tracking, but my controllers aren't and the playspace doesn't seem to be in the proper place.
I used Unity 2021 and XR interaction toolkit, hardware was Oculus quest 1 & oculus link USB cable. I had some problems with the playspace as well but when I did reset the headset playspace it worked fine and the XR rig was in front of the planet. I need to investigate more. Thanks for pointing out the issue with the controllers & playspace.
All good! I'll double-check with some different hardware setups.
Edit: Got it working with Oculus App, rather than SteamVR.
Thank you so much for trying it out. Weird issue, my playspace jumps to a different place every now and then when I launch the game. Haven't been able to figure out yet why it does that.
