I died so much I ended up laughing! For some reason I could only figure out how to get the sword but at least I could use it to disarm the adorable bomb kitty! I think some kind of story/introduction would have been helpful but I understand that kind of stuff can get cut out in a game jam situation. Nice job :)

Developer

Thank you so much, i'm happy you still managed to enjoy it somewhat lol.
Whether u get a gun or sword is randomized every time you draw from the back, I should've made that clearer along with some story, i settled on adding the story on the game's page because i couldn't think of how to implement it in game other than a boring text crawl.

The visuals are very cool, it seemed a bit difficult to me, they have killed me a lot, but it has a lot potential, the mechanics of taking weapons out of the back is fun. I encourage you to continue working on it!

Remind me of pistol whip. Liked the system of one use weapon to get rid of enemies, with some more work can be a good complete game!

Developer(+1)

funny thing is this all started when i was looking through vr dev vids for inspiration when the jam started and found valem's pistol whip in 30 mins vid and then things got a little out of hand lol, i am actually thinking of spending a couple months on it and release it because i couldn't find that many vr runners out there. really happy you enjoyed the game and thank you so much for your kind words

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, there aren't lot of runners. If you will improve this, with some more mechanics / environments, can be easily a good game!

Took a while getting used to grabbing the weapons but it was fun and intense when I got the hang of it. I wouldn't recommend playing this when it's 33Ëš and you have no air conditioning as I worked up quite a sweat playing this haha. Also as others have said there was a bit of lag when playing on Quest 1, but that's not too surprising as it's quite dated hardware by now.

Developer

hahah i probably lost a couple kilos playtesting in this heat lol, really happy you liked it!  optimizing the game further is something i'll definitely do as soon as possible, thank you

Submitted(+1)

Love the asthetic! Grabbing weapons from behind is cool but sometimes they ended in weird positions, like a sideways pistol i couldn't quite use. Still, it's fun and pretty!

Developer

thank you so much. i'm really happy you enjoyed it, fixing the grabbing bugs is definitely a huge priority. unfortunately i still haven't found a good fix other than rebuilding how it works from scratch which i'll probably do as soon as i have the time

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, that happens with jam games, it's near impossible to get everything working as intended haha

Submitted

I really liked the simple, cyberpunk art style, and the concept of the game was cool. Unfortunately, I had a lot of issues grabbing/using the gun and sword (gun would float away from hand and sword wouldn't always appear) When it worked well, however, the game was quite fun.

Developer(+1)

thank you so much for playing, yh unfortunately there are some bugs with the grabbing that took most of the week to fix lol i settled on a dirty fix in the end but i rushed it and it still bugs out sometimes. if i'm ever gonna make another game with locomotion i'll try using another framework other than oculus as it doesn't seem suited for it.  feedback like this really helps with finding the main issues in the game as i couldn't playtest much so i truly appreciate it :D

The game looks really good loading into it, unfortunately it doesn't run well on my quest one, if you could make a PC build I'd love to play it.

Developer (1 edit)

oh yh it's really terribly optimized for quest 1 unfortunately, i'm using the oculus framework so idk if i can use that to make a pc build but i'll try and if that doesnt work i'll just try to optimize it more, thanks for your feedback

Submitted

Genuinely challenging!

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing, yh i didn't have a chance to let anyone else playtest so the difficulty is all over the place but i'll try to balance it more, thanks

I played seated at first, but I definitely had to stand up! Which I can appreciate. Standing and moving around is what makes VR special.

Developer(+1)

that's honestly the main issue i get with most vr titles, the choice between seated or standing.

Seated can get boring but is comfortable for longer games while standing makes games more immersive but just standing without moving feels way more tiring than constantly moving around.

luckily for this game the breakable weapons mean u have to move around to dodge the bullets so that worked out but i'm always looking for better ways to keep the player moving because i hate standing still in games.

i really appreciate your feedback, i'm really happy you enjoyed it and please let me know if u have any suggestions

The game were a bit laggy which made the combat a tid bit difficult on my Quest 2, so you should try to make a windows build as I really enjoyed the concept! Also, poor kittens ðŸ˜‚

Developer

the cats knew the job they signed up for 😂 I'm really happy u enjoyed the gameplay,

So there's slow motion when the bullets get too close (when u hear a whoosh sound) but i didnt have a clear visual indication for it, so it does feel like Lag but u can turn it on and off by pressing A

It does lag at the begging sometimes though for some reason but after a couple seconds it should work fine, you can also press the menu button to restart the level which reduces the lag a lot, sorry i should have clarified these things in game.

It definitely lags for me, but I only have a Quest 1 to test APKs with.

Developer

it's definitely gonna lag more on quest 1 unfortunately, i rushed the code so it's an unoptimized mess but i'll try to redo the more messy parts and reupload
