The art is very good! I felt a bit annoyed by the death animation time and when trying to rush it only get worse xD Great game!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yes, that seems to be the general feedback I'm getting from the community. I think I failed at explaining the theme in-game... I'll try to keep this in mind moving forward. Thank you for the feedback! ^ ^

The game is a little frustrating when you die especially when you press a wrong key.
But the art is great and sounds too, Nice game ^^

Developer

Thank you for the play and feedback! ^ ^

Nice art! Nice music! The death animation is too long and I got annoyed. Then I started rushing through the maze yolo'ing, which surely didn't help at all.  BTW is there any rhythm/timing for the tiles' colors? Great entry though. WOWIEE!

Developer

I had the notion of making it rhythm based, but that got tossed out really early in the concept phase lol! The tiles are randomly change depending on the code/time. It's a game where the theme is patience so trying to speedrush will result in failure most times. I appreciate the play and feedback. ^ ^

pretty nice art!
But tbh I didn't feel the core mechanic.  It felt like alot of waiting and praying that rngesus doesn't suddenly turn the tile that I'm on orange. But maybe I just didn't propperly understand how it works.

Developer

My dev buddy had the same reaction when he first played the game, but then he remembered the theme I was aiming for: teaching patience to the player, similar to the retro games of past. I admit, it's not going to be a speed runner's fantasy to play, but it does have a "zen" like approach to tackling each maze. I really appreciate the play and the feedback! ^ ^

Cool game!  Maybe because it's like a relaxing game, change the movement sound to match the atmosphere/calmness hehe.  Great job submitting a game~

Developer(+1)

I originally had no sound for movement and the effect was added at the last minute lol! I'll take that feedback into account for the next build. Thanks for playing! ^ ^

took a few rounds to figure out the rules of the game… couldn’t figure out the use for the space bar ‘flicker’ ability. There were a few spots that felt to random with how the enemies move around and your in a short segment, not being able to move anywhere.

Developer

Thank you for playing! The space bar ability helps when an enemy is about to collide with the player. Time it well and they will pass right through you. I had inspiration from the C64 game "The Human Race" for the tile based gameplay. I'm not sure which level you would be describing in the game, but I designed the entire app so that you would be able to find a route to the shrine with trial and error. Again, thank you for playing and the feedback. ^ ^

I really liked it!!!! The character reminded me of Merus from dragon ball super ^^ and just remembered that the manga is out today! Thanks for that! xD  I will play it more later, good job there!!!

Developer

;) DBZ was a huge influence on the character design! I love anime lol! And thanks for playing the game! Have fun enjoying the manga!!!

It is really calm and soothing,. Its really well made and feels very retro! However what is the point of phasing? I understand is to dodge but I never found myself using it. Overall a really fun and chill game!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing! I guess it's a carry over from the initial design concept... I kept getting hit by the enemy AI in the prototype, so I put that logic in. In hindsight, the problem with the prototype build was the aggressiveness of the AI... it didn't feel right having an over-zealous enemy when the game was meant to be a casual experience. Hence the toned down AI in the current build. However, it can prove useful at points so I kept it in. Again, thanks for playing the game and the feedback! ^ ^
