Really well thought out mechanic! The graphics were also pleasing to look at and the wall jump worked very well! It made for some neat movement puzzle solving and I can definitely see it being a game that people would speed-run! Overall, this is a very fun entry!

Thank you!

Fun mechanic!

Developer

Thank you! It really meant a lot to watch you play on stream - I should have done that when I was sending earlier builds to friends, but I was on a time crunch and wasn't able to do so. I'll be sure to implement solutions to the problems you pointed out.

Once again, thank you!

Keeping velocity after dying is a great mechanic i loved it. Simple idea executed very well :D My only issue was the player feel a bit floaty but thats just a small issue :d Overall you found a great idea and executed it perfectly. I must say this was one of the best i have ever seen in this jam well done :D

Note:I would be happy if you could check out my game as well :d

Developer

Yeah, the movement feeling too floaty was one of my fears with this game. At least it's overlookable, I guess.

I'll check out your game in a little bit.

Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback!

Maintaining the momentum is a very good twist on this idea. Makes it an interesting blend of both precision platforming and puzzle platforming mechanics.

Thanks for playing!

This is an underrated platformer which included so many interesting mechanics, not just a normal platformer where you can only walk and jump. I also love how you implemented the soundtrack when the play died, you used interactive music to make the transition not awkward.

Developer

I'm still happy the dynamic music ended up working out - I ended up implementing it at the eleventh hour, so it's good to know it's being appreciated.

Glad you liked the level design.

Thanks for playing!

Really cool game, simplistic. The player movement is really nice!

Good job!

Love the movement in this. I also appreciate the inclusion of the various goals like completion, speed run, collectable. Ran into one small glitch where next level was restarting the level. Nothing major and its to be expected in a jam. Congrats on finishing :)

Developer

Yeah, the 'next level' issue actually breaks a lot of other things (the reason it happens is it thinks you're still on the last variable because a level counter doesn't get ticked up, so it'll actually override your save for that previous level in addition to making you stuck on the current level). I only found it and patched it after it was too late.

I'm glad you and others seem to like the movement - in conjunction with the difficulty, I figured that was going to be one of my major sticking points with how heavy the player controls. Good to see it stuck.

Thank you for playing!

Very nice game! I like the player movement, it feels really floaty and fluid, especially when you wall jump! The background is a little jarring though. Also, sometimes on levels when you spawn next to spikes, you die extremely fast and it makes a very loud noise, so try avoiding that next time. Overall, the game is fun, but it would be nice if it had some polish.

Thanks for the review! After going back through the project files, I'm pretty sure I got the parallax layer scroll rates entirely reversed, so I guess that explains that.

Yeah, I'll remove the spike at the bottom of the wall on Complex in some post-jam patch. That was one of the things I was supposed to do for the current final version, but oh well I shouldn't really be doing coding at 2AM anyways.

Thank you!

I'm sorry, I couldn't play bc linux :( So I will not be rating yours

Developer

It's all good. I might look into getting my hands on a web export license for GMS2 so that more people can play my games.

I love the fact that velocity is maintained between lives, that idea is really unique and executed well, leading to some interesting puzzles. The design is simple, but suits the game's atmosphere perfectly. I enjoyed playing this game. I had a problem when clicking next on each level; it restarted the level instead. To fix this, I just went to the next level in the menu screen.

A fun game, and a challenge to anybody who likes platformers, but also games that require you to think; the last level really challenged me.

Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the review! As mentioned on the itch page, I implemented the 'Next' button at 2AM and forgot to actually increment the behind-the-scenes stage counter that's used by the next button to determine what level to send you to; I only realized it this morning when it was too late.

I'm glad you thought the difficulty was fair, as that was one of my main concerns for the game (Super Sequence especially).

Once again, thanks for the review!

Awesome game, really polished as well. Like the minimalistik design and visuals.

Unfortunately, I am really bad at this. :D

Developer

Thanks for playing! Difficulty was one of my main concerns before submitting though, heh
