Very interesting concept, and I love the sound design, but ultimately it's just kinda repeating the same level over and over again. Would be cool if there was more strategy involved. But it's fun, good job!
That is really what I learnt from this jam. This is my 2nd ever game jam, and I have learnt by playing other people's games and all the feedback I have been getting that my levels tend to be a bit same-y. So, thanks for the feedback! I will definitely use this in any other games I make!
this was a great game, lovely character design, great music, great Tileset. great mechanic too, my only negative comment about the game is the gravity of the player, there was times i was so close to a checkpoint i would jump to cliff a cliff to try to reach it, and i was in the air longer then i should have been, which cost me the checkpoint and i had to restart, i was very far into the game, i forgot what level i was in... but otherwise good job!
Honestly, just an analog jump would have made all the difference, but I did not have the time. Sorry...
nah it's all good, like jonas says... failure is progress!! We learn from our mistakes, and it makes us better! I made plenty of mistakes on my game and I'm thankful, cause now I know what I need to do to improve myself
Wait... I just realised you made Sam's adventure! It's one of my favourite games from this jam!
what!? Seriously thanks so much! I really appreciate it given how many great games there are on this jam, too many to count lol
Cool mechanic
A great concept but a bit challenging :')
The ligth mechanic was awesome, and it's the first game i saw that put a option to control the volume in the game, kudos mate, good job
Thank you!
Nice concept. I got stuck on one level. The fact you can only have one light from a previous reath at any given time means that you have to restart if you dont reach it. The game is fun, the graphics work well, and background sound gives it a good creepy vibe.
Good job! Fun game
I didn't have time to get around to balance the game properly, so it's a bit difficult. Sorry about that, and thanks for the feedback!
Ha, no problem. Thats the nature of game jams. You did a very good job considering the time constraints. I can see this game being better with more balance.
Thank for the kind words!
Good stuff, a bit hard couldnt quite beat it but I enjoyed the idea :)
Sorry I didn't playtest! And for some reason the builds are quite harder than in editor.
Nice concept! But at one point I did not get any further ;-(
sorry to hear that! I didn't really notice the difficulty, as builds were a lot harder than in editor for some reason. I plan to update it with a simpler version after the game jam!
Very fun and unique with nice pixel art though I got stuck on the third level I think
sorry to hear that! I did not really get to extensive playtesting, so the game is a bit hard :P. Though, you don't need to finish any levels to win... you just need to go home. Never start the first level, just walk left for a few seconds and go home!
Beautiful game! the only complaint I have is that some jumps are pixel perfect, making the game kind of pretty hard in some parts.
I didnt really get around to extensive playtesting... Also, the builds seem to be a lot harder than in editor for some reason, so yeah, sorry about that!
Well done! And thank you thank you thank you for adding gamepad support!
Thanks! And yeah, no gamepad support is a big bummer in many amazing games :P
Nice graphics and audio - very atmospheric. The games gets a bit repetitive after a while. Game fit the theme well. Good job overall.
Thanks! And yeah, it does get a bit repetitive, sorry about that lol.
Nice idea but could use a bit more variety, or atleast the starting half should't just be walking.
Could use the hold down for higher jump mechanic.
The character sprite isn't the same sprite size as the environment so that's a bit off putting.
Could use something related to the theme(not just an ending), but nice game.
It was supposed to be that if you "Fail" or die, you leave something behind that helps you "Progress", thus following the theme. I did debate adding the variable height option, but I ran out of time. I did not notice the sprite size difference! Thanks for pointing that out, will keep it in mind next time. Thanks for all the awesome feedback!
For some reason, while writing the comment I completelly forgot about the light when you die, so thats a bit of an oopie on my part.
Really interesting and unique game! I really like the art style and sounds. The music is a bit terrifying, but it fits the game's theme.
Overall it's a really great project!
Good job!
Thanks a lot! On a side note, did you win the game?
