The player controller definitively needs some work: player is too fast (usually games have the opposite issue), feels like slides on ice, controls are very unresponsive (like tere is a sorta of delay), and some quality of life features, like Koyote Time and Jump Buffer (i usually reccomend this video when talking about those: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QPmhDYn6rk). Also i'd liked some checkpoint because it was a bit frustrating having to do the same progress over and over. Oh, and also If you die, and then restart the music doesn't reset

Ok, enough with the "bad" feedback: the game music and art are really good (ik they are from various asset packs, but still... :P) and the game has a good premise, and i'm sure that if the player controller was a little bit better (and maybe some checkpoint) I'd definitely had played until the end.

From what i've seen, this is your first game, and if that's true, this isn't bad at all!! (I mean, it isn't bad anyway, except for the player controller, but still...), especially for your age!! I'm sure that you'll make great games, with time!! DON'T GIVE UP!! :D

Thank you so much!

so people keep saying that you're eleven: which if that's true, you're very much amazing, and you did so much more than many of us could at your age, great job!

that being said, you have a lot of work to do still: first of all, the controls are very unresponsive and uncomfortable as people have mentioned (the slippery thing). but also, the game just doesn't have much going for it. it's not really engaging and there isn't really built in a way where there's something fun to do. level design would've helped that.

again though, good job. you did amazing for your age.

Developer

Thank you, im thinking of (as a separate game) doing a load of bug fixes and polish. A few more levels aswell

maybe add some linear drag to the player will be nice, rn it's too slidey

Submitted(+1)

Controls were very slide-y. I could slightly walk and suddenly I'm running off the edge of a cliff! If you die the music just stops. Otherwise great game for an 11 year old!

The controls are very slippery, but aside from that, great visuals, cool idea for a mechanic and nice music! Fun overall :D

If you can, please consider paying and rating my game :)

first of all I can know those are assets made by someone else but no worries its still nice

Submitted(+1)

The art and music are really nice, but the controls are indeed slippery. Nice approach and idea for the game though!

Nice game!
As others have already said, the controls felt like the character was moving on ice.
I must add to this that I actually liked it, it felt like a nice challenge!
Really nice I could play using my controller!

Developer

I'm glad it worked ok with a controller! (I didn't get round to testing using a controller!)

Nice little game! I agree with what others have said, though - the main critique is the very slidey controls. :P

Pretty good game for a 11 year old.

Tips for your next game jam are if you are gonna be using mainly assests (which is not a problem but may affect voting) focus a lot on your code and make things play nicely and are polished because this is the main part of your work.

Nonetheless good job for your first jam, especially at 11.

Developer

Thank you!

Cute looking game. But there are some issues:

  • As others have mentioned, the character feels like hes moving on ice, i second that.
  • The character stucks on walls. In Unity you can fix that by assign your collider component a physics material.
  • If you die, the music stops playing.

In general, the game was fun to play, but also a bit short. But still good job though.

EDIT: Forget about the second issue, i just now realized that it was intended.

Good Job overall!

Well done on your game! Controls feel a bit funky as if moving on the ice, but other than that, good job!

If you are teaching the player how to play, I suggest not to put the tutorial outside the game, put the text in the game scene instead. If you really want to show the tutorial in the main menu, use pictures instead of a bunch of texts. BTW good work on your first game jam

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, I will take this into consideration

Very well done! Like the choice in music in the menu, wished I could hear it in game as well.

Good luck moving forward! Very important step taking part in a game jam!

It would not hurt to work on the controls, but in general, a very good game

The character is walking on ice but IM SPEEDRUNNING THIS!

Developer(+1)

Sorry for the ice physics, I really liked your game though!

Submitted(+1)

Really good game, simple graphics and overall fun
Good Work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Its my first jam so this is great news!

Submitted(+1)

Fun game I liked how you used the assets, interesting mechanics even the walking system seems a bit off and the fact that when you release the walk button you continue to walk :D

Submitted(+1)

The character stills moves after keys are pressed but the game has great potential! Good Work!
