We really enjoyed it!! Hugs loved the controls Hag cannot do the controls but can figure out the sneaky difficult bits (so can Hugs... he says). In all honestly he also can. Loved the music amazing vocals from you Sam (as always)
Love mum and dad
xxx
I'm not gonna lie it took me a hot minute to work out who you were but im v glad you made an account to comment parents <3<3<3
the controls were very divisive so i find it amusing that the two of you were divided on them. also, not a clue what you were on about with the vocals what vocals
regardless thank you for playing and rating our game you lovely bunch xoxooxxooxoxoxx
Neat puzzle game. Got a little frustrated with the movement direction changing with car orientation. Maybe that's on purpose but if it's not then maybe adding headlights or something so that it's easier to see which direction the car is facing would be good. You could even surround the car with the WASD keys to show which button to press.
your 100 right about the car. we did want rotation to be a mechanical part of the game, but as you say, the car models dont show the orientation nearly well enough. We just ran out of time on that front sadly
This is such a cute game, I love the cube based art style, and the minimal shadows.
The puzzles were really well made, to the point where I can't solve one of the final ones X) A really good use of aesthetics on the island to give me too much information, as well as using roads to make fake paths which shouldn't be used. I love the little "Oh, here's the clear solution, wait no, that doesn't work."
Thanks I'm glad you liked it! The minimalist aesthetic was probably in part aided by the fact that we didn't have time to make multiple different bushes, or a tree.
I'm pleased that you've also noticed what I was going for in puzzle design. When I realized that grass tiles were mechanically the same as road tiles I knew I could just throw red herrings that look like solutions into a lot of the puzzles to fox the player. Its a hilariously easy way to encourage players to try something in a puzzle like this because players take a long time to realize that the road is mainly a distraction.
Nice puzzle game with a pretty box looking art style.
First few tries I had to learn the controls, but after I managed that the puzzles were entertaining.
Cool concept and nicely worked out. Enjoyed it!
I'm very happy to hear you had fun :D
SO
5/5 Seriously, just saw the thumbnail and knew I had to try it out, love it lots 5/5, did get stuck a lot cause I got square brain
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And I'm suprised that our thumbnail drew you in; we only allowed like 30 mins for all of that kind of presentation stuff so I'm glad we happened to make a decent one :)
Cool puzzles :D
I really liked the toy-box style visuals and the concept made for some very interesting and rewarding puzzle! The music worked nicely in the background too! The puzzle design was great and I especially liked how they each led into one another! The map design also looked great too and the little indicator for each car worked well! The camera controls also worked nicely!
I think the controls were a bit confusing and needed something that would work with perspective in mind, maybe dragging each car with the mouse to move them instead. Some animations also might have been a nice addition.
Overall, I really enjoyed playing and this is a great puzzle game!
Thank you! that feedback was very thorough indeed :)
The game is fun. A good puzzle.
The controls can be kind of confusing at first, but you kind of forget when you get used to it.
Either way, it's a good game.
Good work!
Thank you! also your profile picture is a vibe
I liked the idea and the puzzles, maybe the controls are not too straightforward, but I was able to figure them out in the end.
Nice game!
Thank you! I'm pleased you enjoyed it :)
Liked the concept of the game. I never quiet got used to the controls being in perspective the front of the car but using the mouse did help. Nice simple visuals and minimalist piano theme. Good Job!
Thank you! Yes we need to improve the controls as a priority if we make this into a full game
How lovely! To be honest, the controls were not what I expected, but it is fun enough to experiment with such a way of thinking. The music is quite good, the graphics are ok but the IDEA is just so great. Massive respect for that! Plus the puzzles were done in a really nice manner. Well done!
Thank you! That is very kind of you to say
As a pianist, I took notes from the music you made. It's so simple, but it fits the game perfectly! Pretty chill :)
The puzzles are quite fun, I had a lot of fun trying to figure out how to do some of the levels.
The controls are... something else. I'm not sure if you need to change them, but adding something like an arrow above the car showing which direction it is facing right now would make it a bit easier. Maybe even better, 3 smaller arrows in front of the car, to show you which way you would drive when you press the corresponding key?
I wanted to play through all the levels but there were so many that I stopped when a third car appeared. I think I would've finished it if the arrow system I mentioned would've been there.
I'm a programmer so excuse the lacking skills in drawing, but something like this:
Anyway, the game seemed pretty simplistic at first, but I had a lot of fun playing it.
Thank you :)
Update: I legit learned how to play your music ahaha
It's really clever, thank you for having me experience this :)
Oh my that's such a compliment :D thank you so much
Hey thanks man, very helpful feedback!
Yeah Im a music student myself but I normally take aaaaages on my songs so it was refreshing to have to get this piece done in like 3 hours. Its so simple as well; the melody hardly changes and the left hand plays almost exactly the same rising 5ths pattern throughout, just on different chords.
Yeah the controls are a whole heap of problems. Your arrow idea is one we will consider if we make this a full game. Theres also the suggestion of an undo and global direction controls which we'll have to toss up between.
This is an interesting puzzle game! I liked that the entire map is visible at once rather than split into separate levels. However, as others said, the controls were difficult to understand, and I would have to rotate my camera a lot to make sure my car would move where I wanted. It may be better if the road/grass tiles were clickable instead. Other than that, I really enjoyed this :)
Thank you! Yeah controls and camera really need work, but in the jam itself we didn't have the time
I really did not like the controls as I had trouble mapping the arrow keys with the direction of the car. As a result I constantly had to drag the camera around not because I couldn't see something but so I didn't mess up my directions. If it was a static view looking down upon the cars, with the movement being related to that it would have been a lot easier for me to control. The fact that you can't redo a single move but instead need to restart the level from the beginning wasn't helping either
Other than that it was quite fun, the mechanics where easy enough to understand and the levels short and sweet.
Thank you for the feedback! Yes we're considering global controls for directional input and a redo button for the game if we make it a full release
First i must say the music is really nice its calming and fits the game perfectly :D Models look really cute and the puzzles are well tought. My only complaint is sometimes i cant see the direction that im facing. Other than that i really enjoyed this game well done :D
Thank you! yes, we only had very little time to do the cars; in a full release (if we make one) the car models will be far clearer!
i like the low poly models and the soft music. The game didn't really gave me the sensation of "fail to win" though. Throwing the blue cars into the water didn't feel really as "failure".
Thank you for playing :) I see what you mean re. failure. I think we were going more for the "messing with the concept of winning and losing" part of the theme, in a way. We liked the idea of an island of residents so enthused with their postal delivery system that they see it as a personal win to crash their cars rather than the post be late. xD
But then, that story isn't really shown in-game at all (spent too long getting the mechanics working!) :P
The game is pretty cool, the game is a little awkward to control (I'm assuming this is by design...?), I'd have much really preferred it the car would control like "press left to go left" instead of "press left to rotate left, then go forward", and like way282 already said, it's hard to recognize the direction of the car. Last thing, i would had liked if there was a way to rewind only one move, instead of restarting every time. The puzzles are very well crafted, and the music was sweet!! Good Job!! (Again, sorry if i took some time to rate your game, i had a pretty busy day today :P)
Very cool game! its a bit hard to see the direction you are looking towards, I think an arrow in front of the car pointing forwards for example would realy help. but very good game else to that!
Thanks for the feedback :) yeah, the car models are a little ambiguous currently!
This is a cool concept! The puzzles were straightforward and easy to understand and the balance of difficulty was done well. The music was nice and serene and added a lot to the atmosphere. I think a pretty simple way to improve the looks of the game is just to add a bit of animation and sound effects, with some sort of effect when you fall into the water. Regardless, I enjoyed playing the game. Good job!
Thanks for the feedback, definitely agreed re. some animations and sound effects. A good splash sound would make failure much more bearable. :P
very charming and creative! I like the music also, it fits the game somehow. the control was a bit confusing but I got it
Good job!
Thank you :)
