This is a great game idea. It was fun to play.
Check out mine too if you want: https://itch.io/jam/wowie-jam-4/rate/1663718
I’m glad you liked the idea, I’ll be sure to check out your game asap! :)
It is a really cooI concept. This type of simulations and games can produce very interesting results. As other players have already commented, you should expand this project in the future. Good luck :)
Will surely do, thank you for the feedback! :)
Definitely a cool concept! I would like to see it expanded on
Thanks for the kind words, I’ll surely will expand on it as soon as the voting period ends! <3
Good idea, but a little bad execution.
First of all your game is not bad, it is amazing. But there is some critical game breaking issues. First one is as a player we need to know how many seconds left before a Gonzo dies. Maybe you can add little timer on each one. Another thing is sometimes Gonzos eat Popies out of screen border. I think you forgot to add invisible box to camera border. But it rarely happens, so it's not a big problem. Last but not least, Gonzos are so offensive. I mean whenever a Gonzo eats a Pupi, he can continue on his own way without a delay. And this is where the main problem begins. You can't make great scores while Gonzos can eat every Pupies so quick. Whenever there is a hole, i always lose. If you want to make after-jam version, try to add eating animation or little delay for continuing his movement
Overall idea is promising, if you can work a little bit on it, it can be really great mobile game. Good job!
Thank you so much for the honest feedback! I totally agree about the execution being a bit poor, but I really didn’t have time to polish or balance anything ^-^’
I’ll surely consider adding some animations for both creatures eating as well as a satiety time for Gonzos so that they won’t decimate your Popies so quickly: they really are unstoppable when they get to your group! To help with that I think I’ll make the Popies split up more evenly, ’cause right now they often so close that once one gets eaten, the whole pack surely follows.
To address your last concern, I don’t know why Popies and Gonzos seem to sometimes go outside the screen borders, it definitely has to do with resolution and my bad build settings: thanks for letting me know, I’ll definitely look into it. :)
I love your constructive criticism, it has sparked so many ideas in my head for future features and fixes! Again, thank you so so much! <3
I'm glad I was able to help. I am looking forward for after-jam version. Good luck!
pretty cool! :D
Thank you so much, I’m glad you liked it! ^-^
Very cool idea! I love simulations of life like that! It was really fun to try to get a high score, really cool game with great execution, good job!
Thank you so much for playing and the kind words!
I love life simulations too, they actually where a great inspiration for the concept ^-^
Really nice game! It's really hard, but apart from that its a really great submission! Good job!
Thank you so much! Yeah, I’ll really have to make it easier as soon as the voting ends, I really didn’t have time to balance anything ^-^’
Very Interesting Idea put the Game is too hard and the Rounds often dont last long, still cool and fits the topic well
I’m glad you liked the idea! I’ll surely fix the difficulty and expand on the concept as soon as the jam ends: might transform this from a jam experiment to a full fledged Flash-like game :)
I love the concept, it's a really cool interpretation of the theme.
My only critic is that it's a bit hard, maybe if you would make the map bigger or more food for the Popies spawned.
But with a bit more balancing this would be a great game. Everything else is perfect in my opinion.
Thanks for the enthusiastic feedback, I totally agree with it being too hard: I’ll surely do some post-jam balancing to make it better! ^-^
too much text in my opinion, overall a unique game, good job
Thanks for the nice feedback, I’m glad you liked the idea! ^-^
Absolutely agree with you on the heaviness of the text-only tutorial, if I had more time I would have surely created an interactive one that wouldn’t just dump all of that info onto you!
Really cool concept and nice execution! Decently polished and always has me thinking!
Thank you so much, I’m glad you liked the idea! ^-^
You really undermine your game. I had tons of fun with it! It's very well-made for a game jam. My highscore is 2311. :)
Thank you so much! Coming soon after the voting ends will be a leaderboard to show off your amazing record ^-^
What's your highscore, out of interest?
Not so different from yours, it is 2505! :)
Neat idea, pretty difficult but cool nonetheless. I like making the walls, they are satisfying for some odd reason..! Cool interpretation of 'Collaborate with AI'. Please check out my game too :)
Thanks, I’m glad you liked the idea!
I admit the game really is too difficult for (un)balancing reasons, but I’m so happy you managed to have fun nonetheless even with something as mundane as making the walls (aka stretching a square sprite, really ^-^’).
Again, thank you so much for the feedback and I’ll definitely check out your game <3
Quite a charming game! I enjoyed it! :)
(You can also just continue playing on the game over screen, which I found amusing)
Oops, thanks for pointing it out! I know you found it amusing but I’ll definitely have to fix it, sorry ^-^’
Thank you so much for the kind words <3
Man really polished experience and good artwork and idea, BUTTTT to difficult for me man ;(.
Sei italiano?
Yeah, I know it is definitely too difficult! I hope you liked the idea anyhow ^-^
PS: sì, sono di Milano! Mi fa molto piacere trovare un connazionale anche qui, orgoglio italiano! :)
vai ti meriti un follow come compaesano milanese :), io ho 15 anni te?
Un po’ più vecchiotto, ne ho 21! Lieto di conoscerti ^-^
The concept is very good, very original however i find it very hard to understand
I’m glad you liked the concept! And you’re absolutely right, it is hard to understand and definitely too hard to play: I didn’t really have time to balance anything ^-^’
For how simplistic this is, it's quite fun and charming. Neat concept.
Thank you so much for the feedback, I’m glad you liked the idea behind the poor realization ^-^’
I’ll definitely make something more polished of it as soon as the jam ends, promise!
The idea is so nice :D
FEEDBACKS :
- too much text at start
- music stopping when tutorial shows up
- I'm colorblind and I don't really see when they're about to die
- no music ending
- game is hard :O
- no score board or at least a track of your personal best
- nice music/SFX
Was fun to play :) ♥
I’m so sorry to hear you had problems due to your colorblindness! I will surely keep the color aspect in mind the next time I develop for a jam, and I’ll definitely add some optional health indicator as soon as the jam’s rating period ends, along with a sort of leaderboard and some QUITE NEEDED balancing. ^-^’
Anyhow, I’m so glad to hear you liked the idea, it really matters :)
Not bad!
Thanks, it’s not nearly polished enough (nor finished, really ^-^’) but I’m glad you liked it!
Good Game!
I actually like it a lot. I do think you’ll need to balance a bit more the difficulty, because it’s really hard to keep them alive for more than a few generations. THe concept is gold, and I do think you could make this work. Graphic wise, it get the job done, the minimalistic aspect is actually of appeal to me ! Unfortunalty, you can recognise unity’s default UI in the main menu.
GG!
Thank you SO SO much!
I totally agree with you on the difficulty aspect, but I really didn’t have the time to balance anything, and the same goes for unity base Ui: I added it in the last hours of the jam, and I recognize it is awful! ^-^’
But again, you don’t understand how much your comment matters for me, both for the wonderful insight and both motivation-wise since this is ths first time I find the courage to partecipate in a jam. Again, thank you! :)
