I died out many time ^^ Fun experience and well executed! The music is also very good!

Developer

Thank you so so much for the feedback! ^-^

Submitted(+1)

Really impressive what you managed to do in such a short time! =D
I like how you indicate how hungry they are with their color changing slightly.
They didn't live long under my care but it was fun^^

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, they really are fragile creatures, I’ll need to make them live a little longer ^-^’

The game's concept is really cool, and the graphics are simple but they look great. My biggest problem with the game is how the walls are drawn. Because they can't be drawn over entities, it's really hard to control them. I think it could be really cool if you would draw the walls like you were doodling and it would push the entities away if you draw over them. But overall still a great submission!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the idea!

I definitely intend to change the way that walls are drawn, I don’t love it myself: the original idea was to allow the player to doodle freely on the screen like you suggested, but I couldn’t seem to make it work in a satisfactory way during the limited time of the jam so I decided to switch to this less interesting version. ^-^’

  • functional graphics
  • the fact that the prey are slow and group up (and don’t ever try to flee) make it so that when 1 predator gets near the group, the prey are all gone in moments as more predators spawn
  • I don’t really feel like I was working with the AI, more like fighting with dumb AI
  • It feels like the game could use some balancing to make it playable - for example, if the predators went still for 5 seconds after eating and then spawned a new predator or something like that.
Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You’re right on all regards, and I’m already working to balance things out and improve every aspect of this mess after the jam ends. ^-^

Yeah, they are pretty much unstoppable! I’ll definitely need to nerf them ^-^’

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game, it's really fun to try and control the environment. Although it's really tough to create a good balance between the two species because the predators just dominate.

Developer

Thank you so much, I’m glad you liked it! And yeah, I’ll surely need to tone down the power of Gonzos: they are quite OP! ^-^’

Submitted(+1)

Tried the game, I really can’t do more than 1000 :D For the rest is a simplicistic yet addicting idea, I tried lots of times before writing this review. You should balance the power of Gonzos, maybe they will drain energy from Popis instead simply killing them on touch. It’s a good entry, you put even good SFX, I think you should put even more eye candies here and there. Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for the amazing feedback! <3

I’ll surely work a lot more on the post-jam version, and the idea of draining energy from Popies is really interesting: will surely explore it so again, thank you so much! ^-^

Submitted(+1)

I like this idea a lot! I think you should balance the game though because the Gonzo's (predators) are way too powerful and if you let loose even one it can easily reproduce and devour the Popi's. I think you should make it so that to reproduce, the Gonzo's must eat 3 Popi's instead of just one.

Developer (1 edit)

That’s an interesting idea, I had something similar in mind but now I’m much more enticed to explore it! :)

I’ll surely have to give to project a much needed pass of polish and balancing, but constructive feedback like yours has already sparked so many ideas in my head: thank you so much! ^-^

As a biologist, I really like this idea! You just need to adjust the predators power, because they grow too fast. It has a lot of potential! I hope you keep working on this! Good job ^^

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the feedback, hearing from a biologist is really valuable given the concept! <3

But yeah, I really need to balance everything after the jam ends: Gonzos are absolutely a far better species! ^-^’

(+1)

I really like the concept of keeping two species alive and prevent extinction of a creature. I also like the art its very simplistic yet appealing. Well Done!

Developer

Thank you so much, I’m so glad you liked the idea! ^-^

Top Score: 5600

Wonderful little management game with potential! The Gonzos are definitely too OP, I feel like their spawn rate per Popi eaten needs to be tweaked. And maybe add a seperation radius between the AI to make it easier for the player to create lines between groups. 5stars for creativity, really unique concept!

Developer

Damn, that’s an incredible highscore, it’s more than double mine! o_o

I’m so glad you liked the game and the idea behind it, I will surely improve every aspect of the realisation after the jam: Gonzos really are too OP, but I have a few ideas to nerf them. A separation radius is also a great idea, will definitely explore it: thank you so much for the feedback! ^-^

Hello, my record is 346 is it good? I like the core gameplay. When we die you should've kept the music playing because It resets when I press the restart button and that's a little annoying (at least for me). Cool game.

If you don't mind please check my game too!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! And hey, every score is a highscore! ^-^

I find the music resetting pretty annoying myself, don’t worry: I added all sound effects in the last hours of the jam, so unfortunately I didn’t have much time to polish things. Will surely fix it, thanks for the feedback! :)

Submitted(+1)

Easily the best game I've played in along time. Only nitpick is that it would be nice to see how long the creatures have left alive. Also it feels a little bit off topic in terms of the jam's theme.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! :)

I’m thinking of adding an optional timer on both creatures for how much time they have left in the post-jam version, so fear not! Also, my interpreatation of the theme is that you have to collaborate with the creatures to keep them alive, but I understand it is a bit of a stretch…! ^-^’

Very simple and fun game! I think it's a little too hard as it is, but still very enjoyable. I kept wanting to separate the popies into two groups, so I could let the gonzos feed on one group and let the other group survive and reproduce, but the way they keep bunching together made it almost impossible to separate them most of the time.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the nice feedback! ^-^

I totally agree with you, it is really too hard as it is: the problem is that both creatures try to get to the nearest food source from them, and having so few leaves spawn means that these are often the same for every creature of a species leading to them being too close to split in groups. I’ll try to add some randomness over their destination after the jam and maybe the possibility to draw over some creature at the expense of sacrificing them: this way you could devide the packs with a little expense of lives! :)

Again, thank you so much of the constructive criticism, it really helps spark new ideas! <3

Really simple and fun ! i had great fun :)

This Game Has A Solid Mechanic and also You Implemented A* algorithm wow, but pls nerf gonzo pls 1 gonzo > infinite popies, overall nice implementation of enviroment

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! <3

Yeah, Gonzos really are the dominant species, a bit too much I might add. ^-^’

By the way, I didn’t really implement A*, I imported the wonderful “A* Pathfinding Project” Unity package in my project and tweaked some things to make it work as I wanted: if you use Unity and ever need to do some pathfinding both in 2D or 3D that’s a fabulous resource! :)

Submitted

i used to use unity but unity really likes giving me errors every time so i switched to godot :)

same

godot gang forever wanna collab for a jam ?

Submitted

I did not have much of experience in godot + I'm a new born developer + I'm not a full time developer :(, but still I can have a jam with you, but  please don't be too complex:)

Submitted

what do you think  i am, i started using godot like 2 weeks before this and somehow i managed to make a project, well we can do this together do you have discord id?

Submitted

LOL, I already started a  5-6 month ago but I didn't have much time so I think we are on the same level

Really liked the concept, but it feels like implementation is not full.

It's hard to divide everyone when they are going into the same spot, so py popies always die, even if there is only one gonzo next to them (gonzo just divides into to and imstantly kills everyone. But concept is really good, and I liked how you implemented pathfinding for your characters!

Developer (3 edits) (+1)

Absolutely agree with you, it really is too difficult! Maybe I’ll allow the player to create walls even with creatures in the way in order to make dividing them a little easier… See, you sparked new ideas in my mind, that’s why feedback like yours is so important. Thanks! ^-^

Submitted(+1)

great gameplay. Love it !

Developer

Thanks! It’s a little unpolished and kind of too difficult, but I’m so happy you liked it anyway! ^-^
