Yeah, huge thanks to the host and the judges! Going through the entries with such detailed criteria must have been time-consuming (not to mention the corruption theme must have resulted in lots of ear and eye pain during the process)

Really fun, love the music too. The "Double HP" corruption was hilarious

Insane corruption effects and lmao that voice, I genuinely thought it was actually Vinny's Snake voice for a sec

Really neat, great voice over too

absolute cinema

Awesome, thanks

Incredible work, genuinely unsettling atmosphere

Vibes are immaculate, and that death screen is beautiful

Thank you! The corruption progression was actually something I've wanted to make ever since the 2022 A2B2 game jam Vinny hosted that also had "Corruption" as its theme but I didn't remotely have enough knowledge to make that work back then. I'm glad it worked out this time

Thanks! I'm glad you like the resource-management since that was probably the most complicated part to make work. My initial plans were even to make a whole RE4 attache case system before I realized that would be biting off waaaaay more than I could chew

My game BRAINDREAD was my attempt at making a cyberpunk survival horror game, which is something I wanted to do for a while now after playing games like SOMA and really getting into the recent survival horror remakes like Silent Hill 2, RE4, and Dead Space.

The game's premise was based on a bunch of times Vinny talked about the existential horrors of brain uploading and being forced to stream forever. Basically "I Have No Mouth and I Must Stream". I had a lot of fun putting in a bunch of Vinesauce references that are hopefully not completely confusing for anyone who might play the game without knowing about them. Apparently some Youtubers somehow found the game it and luckily they still enjoyed the game and story despite not knowing what any of the references were about.

All in all, a really fun game jam! A big thank you to everyone who's helping out with it. I'm definitely looking forward to future ShroomJams and the amount of submissions is a great sign that it can keep going strong.

A corruptions-themed Yume Nikki-style game is a great idea, really like the effects and the surreal character designs

Hi, I wanted to ask a question about updates. I pushed an update to fix a hitbox bug but I also added some text to the Controls tutorial menu just in case people wanted to play with a gamepad (the gamepad controls were already implemented, just not the text in the tutorial menu) and also lowered the boss health value so that people wouldn't feel the need to play the game again just to see two lines of text at the end. I just wanted to clarify if the latter two things are allowed as fixes. If not, I can revert those changes. Thanks for all your work with running the jam!

permanent permanent

Glad you enjoyed it! The pistol's supposed to be the weakest because of how cheap the ammo is compared to the other two, but the basic enemies should probably have less health since you only have the pistol to fight them at the beginning anyway. I noticed the item pick up issue as well, I think its because the hitbox is too small so I'll try increasing it. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for letting me know, the boss HP is definitely overtuned for the first run at least, I'll nerf it in a patch soon.

Great work! Controls great and I really dig the pixel art, especially Gnorts in the background

Love everything about this, great work! Laughed out loud at the game over screen. I'd love to see this continued

Great, love the art at the end

oh no he's hot

Saw your post on KO, really cool game! Love the concept of softlocking the game but then using corruptions to progress anyway

Corruption visuals at the end were insane, amazing work

Neat mechanics, the sword jump is super satisfying

Love the pixel art and the way the monster moves

Really nice work, the payoff was great

Thanks for playing! Yeah, it's pretty hard without medkits which is why I made the shop accessible during the fight.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it

Thank you!

Thanks, I enjoyed your commentary!

Really impressive, big fan of DMC so this was a nice surprise

Insane game, love the King Gizzard music as well

Great job, neat concept and cool visuals. I played it twice, once trying to be careful with it and the next time just mashing. I killed a lot less people the time but I saved a lot more people the second time, and seeing as everyone on Earth dies, I guess it's like a super version of the trolley problem in a way

Great job, the concept is excellent and fits the themes nicely

Love the music, it's weird but catchy

Lots of fun, love the progression with the upgrades and how the ball ricochets. That boss fight is absolutely brutal from the second phase on, I need to rest my fingers before trying again

Loved it, especially how "punchy" it feels

Took me a couple tries to beat the last puzzle and I ended up solving it by mashing the gears into vague directions so I guess I really got into the orc mindset

finding winner too hard pls nerf

Fun game, the door minigame in particular looks super good

Fun game, I like how crazy fast it gets near the end

This was great, super difficult at first but getting used to the movement was all I needed to snowball into victory with the power-ups. Also waited around to see what happens when the timer runs out and it did not disappoint.

Cute game, reminds me of Mario & Wario
