Brilliant ! I'm waiting for a sequel now

What's interesting is that I'm totally not target audience for this type of game, but I'm surprised that I've been really enjoying myself during the entire playthrough !
You did an amazing job regarding the narrative/ambiant quality. It reminded me of the stress feeling you can feel playing frostpunk, this feeling of "it will be harder and harder". For me the game balance was really ok, I struggled enough without being too much in pain, which allowed me to be kept entertained so on that side too that's a really good point.
A smart decision you made (which might not have been quite easy to do regarding the time you must have invested writing everything) was to summarize what every decision would imply. It allows the player to read without feeling the "need" to read, afraid of losing a piece of information. That made me really more immersed than I though and might even have reconciled me with this type of experience.
I'm astonished ! The quality and polish in the game is insane for a 1 week jam. I like that there was 2 different endings, but would have loved a little checkpoint after the ending 1 in order to avoid fast skipping every dialogues in the game just to take the other ending. Aside from that, magnificent artworks, animations are great, attention to details is absurdly good (I mean, who has handle the case where the rain start and the character wear his hood ?).
Congratulation for this game !
Great and strong concept, like super hot but in a 2D side scroll I love it ahah.
To be honest it's too hard for my brain to figure how to get through the end of the game, I stuck at the map where 2 enemies are rushing towards you really close to each other. But I retried a lot of time and the concept feels great, the lore around it can be greatly extended to make a Tron like story, that's really really well done !
Your both really talented knowing that you made everything by yourselves, congrats !
Congrats on making everything on your own, the game is good ! I liked the building / strategist phase and the anxious feeling you have when the storm is unleashing it's wrath on your creations, well done !
Like an other person said below, I would have added a mouse wheel sensitivity parameter in the settings so that you can better select the barrier type you want to build, but overall well done.
Great game, I probably spend too much time on it already because of how much the gameplay loop is addictive !
The issue I run into is that if you lack any resources at a given time, it can be almost impossible to get back up until the storm arrive so I found myself having to skip turns until the storm come and destroy some of my stuff. But aside from that I was really hooked, the "card booster" opening was a really fun thing to do each turn !
Honestly that's an awesome game for a span of only 1 week so congrats !
Really great graphics ! On my side I think the best part of the game is the background music track, for a jam that's one of the very very few that doesn't sound repetitive even after listening to it for 10 minutes in a row so really great job.
Here are my two cents about the game : I really struggled with the character movements until I found the jetpack (which felt really good to go through the LD using it). In my opinion, the game would have been really better with the camera a lot unzoomed because the zoomed camera made me feel like I was inside a gigantic maze and didn't know were to go at all (maybe that's what you were trying to reach tho). Maybe it would have been good to add some small assets like posters or noticeable items like that in the LD so that player could somehow locate themselves as they progress further.
Anyway, aside from that you all did an amazing job, the introduction comic book looks sick ! Congratulation !
Wow, what a fun game ! The boat controls feels really great ! the only thing that I found kind of missing was the sound fx during the storm phase, but that aside it was really fun !
Congrats on making all of your assets too which should be taken into account in the ratings in my opinion, that's really not that simple to do !
Hey ! I had a great time playing your game, it's really satisfying to improve your shelter times after times. The only issue I found is around the game balance which I found pretty hard scaled (around the Day 6 where planets arrives to crush you damn mole body) Aside from that, that was really really fun !
Hey, we're delighted that you enjoyed our game !
About the settingsn that's not an issue proper to your version. Some players already gave us this feedback (someone even almost had a heart attack ahah). Really sorry about that, that's what happen when you add features like that like 5 hours before the jam submission due hour, we'll make sure to be careful about stuff like that in the next jam.
For the sturdy shell, that should indeed be a bug. Our card design allow us to precise a rarity type and we might have set the bad one unfortunatly... And yes for the card in the store, you could buy them if you get an infinite money loop where you equip some money improvement cards and just sell/rebuy your cards to the merchant, money can stack up pretty quickely that way ahah ! But it's kind of a glitchy build hidden and RNG based, so not a good decision on our side... anyway, when you buy cards in the store they are not revealed in the carddex unfortunately.
And concerning your balancing ideas, they are great ! We'll check how we can improve the fishing spots spawn (maybe allow the player to fish anywhere and have fishing spots only for really rare cards ? Stuff like that).
Anyway, thanks a lot for the time you spent writing this review full of insights !
That's really an awesome review since that cosy vibe which bring your mood up was not that much something we intended at first ! We're really glad that it made players feel that way. Thanks for you really generous review !
We're 100% aligned with your feedback, the drag'n'drop / right click thing is possibly the most unintuitive UX/UI ahah. Reworking this part will be the first thing in our todo backlog ahah
Anyways, thanks for your review and time !
Hey thanks a lot for you review and feedbacks, we're glad you appreciated the game !
Let me stop you right there, you're not dumb ahah ! We definitely did that to make the player feel like "hauling it" but it's clear that it was a huge misconception on our side since many reviewers didn't notice that they needed to take an action for that. We'll definitely rework that part so that it feels more natural to the players !
That's really nice that you enjoyed the upgrade progression, which was a central thing in our game design (we would have loved to further expend it tho) ! And yes, our artist really did an amazing job, feels like being in his backpack sometimes ahah.
Anyway, thanks a lot for dropping by !
Oh my, we're really sorry this happened to you ! Many players encountered the same issue, which is not a bug but more like an UX/UI issue. After fishing, you need to drag'n'drop the fish in your inventory (or right click it at least) so that it goes to your inventory, else it will be lost ! Sorry for the time you lost, we're at least glad you still enjoyed the game somehow ! And thanks for your feedback !
Hey ! thanks for playtesting our game, it means a lot :) indeed it might be a tad repetitive, we already have some pieces to improve this repetitiveness like adding quests, more villages, NPCs, and more variety in the gameplay like weather and mini game improvements, hopefully it will work out somehow !
Thanks a lot for the feedbacks ! Yeah, it might be a little repetitive for the unluckiest people due to the spawn RNG unfortunately, we'll definitely better balance the game next time ahah.
As for the QA, thanks a lot, already working on fixing and improving this to further expend it into a real game hopefully !
Oh my, really sorry to hear that. The thing that we missed is that it's hard for player to notice they need to drag'n'drop the fish to their inventory in the top right corner of the fishing game panel (or at list right click on it)... Almost every player struggle to figure this so we'll definitely do it a different way next time !
Thanks a lot for giving the game a part of your time tho !
