Description
I don’t know a lot about genres but I guess ambient would be the most fitting. The theme made me think of dreams and blurry thoughts that appear in them. So I went into Fl Studio 21 and tried out some nice synth/vaporwavey instruments. I found a nice one and when I added the drums I got the vibe of a nice floaty platformer that plays in your Mind/dreams. It would be a bit inspired from a mix of celeste, hollow knight and omori (even though I haven’t played the latter 2). So at first you would walk and float through a nice dream, but the further you get in the game the more you find out about the main character's inner mind, their struggles and their backstory. As a result the dream becomes more gloomy, which leads to a change in music and harder difficulty. I mainly used SGM for the instruments and the free flex instruments from fl studio. I used some reverb and an equalizer to remove the highest and the lowest frequencies to make it sound more lofi. The mirage and the bubbles of the picture also gave me a tiny bit of inspiration because that’s how dreams can feel in a way.

Message from the artist
This is my first (submitted) composing Jam so I’m looking forward to the feedback and I wish good luck to everyone.

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I think it fits the theme well, because your dreams are your own world that no one else can ever experience and in my opinion the songs both feel dreamy in a way that they are a bit blurry, just like dreams.

Dream Walk: I love your choice of instruments. The big synths do feel really dream-like and set the stage for the type of gameplay really nicely. The mallet instrument has a nice and simple soothing melody that would certainly support casual platformer gameplay.

Going Deeper: I can feel the worry arise in this track and the level intensity certainly seems like it would be higher here. The swing rhythm you use gives a coolness to the track that seems like enemies are getting stronger and more comfortable getting in your way.

Overall: Having these two contrasting tracks helps give a sense of the overall character of your intended game and I really like the dreamy atmosphere that progresses to darker emotions with more forward momentum. Would love to hear what other levels would sound like in this game! Well done - thank you for sharing!

Really nice OST. Going Deeper was super nice for me, it had a ton of different emotions build in. Nice work!

Lovely ambiances here!

Very good contrast generated by the main instrument in Going Deeper.

Well done!!!

something about that specific music box sound makes me so happy. probably undertale brainrot but it worked really well here!

Nice! I always enjoy ambient tracks like these, and I think you got the dream aesthetic down pretty well!

I kinda wish you produced these tracks a bit more, because they felt a bit lacking in that sense, but they're still very nice.

Pretty good for your first submission!

Nice little entry! Your interpretation of the theme and the scenario that followed were good, and your tracks fit the idea! I liked Dream Walk, you're really feeling the dream on this one! Good work!

It's 6 in the morning, I'm on a ship and I feel like I'm flying. The arpeggio reminds me a lot of the beginning of an Italian song ("La canzone nostra" by Blanco), yet I think it's very fitting for the type of game you envisioned. You created a very interesting mix of retro, electronic, and chiptune... is that an accordion in the second track? Your work is very interesting, and a couple more tracks would have been perfect.

Washed out vapor goodness. Choice of synths and chords in the first track is fantastic for capturing that "blurry dreams" kind of feeling. It's like being caught in that stream of slipping unconscious; nice and airy with enough motion to keep you interested but nothing too abstract or demanding of your attention.

Going Deeper opts for more of a standard sounding arrangement, and it works well after the haziness of Dream Walk. Interesting choice of lead here - I have not heard many people opting for this so props for keeping things original!  This track has a little bit more of a slightly menacing vibe to it, I think - like slipping into a sleep that's perhaps a bit too deep, you know? Things start to blur too much and become distorted and you're left with a heaviness.

Both of these are solid; congruent but appropriately different. Congrats on your first complete jam submission, and best of luck!

Awesome tracks! Love the kind of mystical feeling in the composition. Hope participate next year too.

Day 3 of Rating Submissions with Few Ratings to Hopefully Get Some In Return

Interesting and dreamy ambient stuff. Harmonically interesting and lush. The pads in the first song are almost so broad sounding that they push some of the other elements away, which could be intentional as it adds a liminal quality to the material. I feel the real world creeps back in with the more organic instrumentation in the second track - my favourite of the two. I am just a sucker for accordion in any context.

Very strong first submission. I could hear something of a more moody jump & run from the N64-Era made with this OST.  Also ... Der VaporWave ist stark in dir!

Wonderful ambient! The experiment turned out to be very good!

...Going Deeper starting at 0:18 reminds me very much of the Starlight Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog) Hehe...

Oh my god what a banger! In this  submission a dreamy atmospheare really keeps you ON THE EDGE with It's INSIDE MY WORLD theme. I really like the accordion sound effects, the ambient music and the cover art. I really enjoyed listening and I think it is a BIG SHOT for the OST Composing Jam #7!

It sounds great, very smooth, it flows very easily. Personal preference for Dream Walk and its oniric vibe, but I gotta underline the use of the accordion in Going Deeper, I love it.

I'm loving your choice of harmony throughout these tracks! You've emulated the "dream" theme you were going for pretty well, kudos to that. Keep up the good work!

I don't know why the submission is called like the game jam I participated in. The submissions name should be "dream dash" with the soundcloud cover picture lol
