huh. Ok. Thanks!

Thanks so much for taking the time to say so!

I so appreciate the kind words and the feedback, and I agree completely about the need for improvement in level layout and signposting.  I had a hard time with the resolution on all 3 builds as well...

Great work, this one's fun, it's impressive you got DDR in there too, and the spookiness is perfection, genuinely unsettling, well done :)

I liked this, very spooky indeed!  the slow build of tension and environmental story telling were well done :)

Wow javascript huh?  That's amazing.  I guess I need to learn post processing and shaders, thank you so much!

This is a cool idea, and good puzzle design! I was stumped by a few and had fun figuring them out :)

Thanks for playing it!  I agree, should be able to skip to the end of a dialog and THEN press again to close it, thanks for the tip!  I did not add any gamepad support unfortunately, only keyboard :(

oh it totally worked then!  I much preferred moving around in bat form :)

I looked it over and it looks like an engine i'm not familiar with was used, not sure how to interpret the code, but the lighting effect you achieved is something I've been chasing and unable to achieve for a long time!

I've rated about 30 games and this is my favorite.  I love everything about this, it looks great AND it looks like a real gameboy game.  The light pulsing like a heartbeat is fantastic.  The atmosphere is intense, I felt scared playing it.  The foreshadowing is great, writing is great.  I really REALLY liked the unsettling details like doorways that appear out of nowhere, exiting the closet through a different door than you came in, the reflection in the mirror changing, the fact that one of the knives is already missing.  The push and pull of WANTING the candle to follow you but also being afraid of it hurting you is GENIUS.

I feel like this is something that works great at exactly its current length but that could also be fleshed out into a full game and still be fun the whole way through.  I'm blown away, this is my highest rated game.  well done.

The two extremely tiny, minor notes I have are that the reflection in the mirror doesn't seem to be aligned to the same pixel grid, i was getting overlapping and slightly offset pixels which make it look like the resolution is higher than allowed, and the sound of the toilet flushing seems to be a higher quality than the gameboy would be able to produce but - who cares.

Game is GREAT.

I love the presentation on this, it's very gameboy-esque and very spooky and looks great, the effects with lighting and changing palettes are super impressive!

I don't love the movement, even small jumps hit the ground so ponderously and it doesn't feel good to move around.  It seemed like there was a glitch when I get hit while in bat form and then quickly turn into a bat again - like the old timer from the first time I turned into a bat was still running, the power wore off much quicker the second time.

This looks and sounds great and I love that it's a complete game with a clear goal, very fun to play, well done!

I commented on the game itself too but I just wanted to say I love this.  A lot of other submissions have good mechanics and art, but don't have a clear goal or ending or story - you know, a game.  This one is a complete experience and I really appreciate that and I think the art style and everything about the presentation are consistent and just great!

I would like to be able to see the ghosts from a little further away - some of the jumps felt like pure luck, and the physics are a tad floaty for my taste, but that's just personal preference.

I really enjoy the story - it reminds me of a Lovecraft story for more reasons than one.  The "twist" ending is obvious to the player long before it becomes clear to the character, just like Lovecraft, and the reveal in the mirror at the end reminds me of The Outsider.

Awesome awesome job all around!

I love so much about this game.  It's fun, the goal is clear, the art style and music and sfx are all consistent and spooky.  I love that you included the walkthrough in case anyone got stuck - I didn't use it even when I did get stuck it was fun trying to solve it myself!  And I love that you made the code public on git, this is an awesome little game :)

Hey just wanted to say the micro game collection idea is a very good one and well executed!

It seems like the hitch hikers one is impossible to win, and obviously more variety would be good but I'm sure that's due to the time constraint.  Great job overall!  The vibes are really good too, consistently energetic and spooky style.

This is really really impressive from both a programming and an artistic standpoint, looks great and feels great to play, and so many mechanics in such a short time, well done!

Echoing the other comments regarding the art, very impressive!

oh my gosh thank you so much! I’m really really grateful you put so much time into it and that you took the time to let us know you enjoyed it :)

Everything about this is great!  Aiming in first person is a pain in the ass on a gameboy, haha, but the game is great!

This is incredible.  There are too many cool touches to mention.  I played through twice and it’s hard as hell but really fun.  Great art, great sound, great concept, rated this really high, well done!

This is really great, the art and music/sfx really shine, and it’s all polished, very professional presentation!

I feel the gameplay would really benefit from some more variety, the battles are a little one note.  Branching paths on the overworld and some character growth would go a long way!

I really love this, it’s inspiring, well done :)

I really love the game over screen!  This is fun, addictive, way to go!

really cute, well made, and it's the perfect length.  all the dialog is well written, quirky and fun, great job!

This is really incredible,  the movement feels great, way better than I’d expect from a jam platformer, the concept is SO good, and the art is perfection.  This get super high ratings from me across the board, well done!

Oh my gosh thank you so much!  Your game really impressed me, I appreciate the kind words!

I agree, I was tweaking the leveling curve and enemy stats right up until the deadline, but it’s still too grindy at the end, thank you for the feedback!  Composing more music was on my list too!

Wow, thank you!!! I know there’s a lot of improvements that could be made but I’m happy with how it came out and SO glad to hear that it clicked with you :)

Oh my gosh thank you so much!  I didn’t think anyone would put in the time to reach the ending, that’s awesome :)

I agree the difficulty spike needs managing!  I also wanted move stats and types to display during battle but couldn’t figure out how to fit that much info on screen.  There is a pause menu that shows move details, but its existence is not well communicated :(

SFX were also left on the To Do list unfortunately, you’re absolutely right that those would help.

I did not think ANYONE would get that that was Sans and Papyrus, so glad you got the reference!

Thanks for the comments, really appreciate it.

thanks for saying so!

This is really impressive, I like the look of it!

I am having a devil of a time getting past the second game, bullet hell was never my thing.

Well done!

I am wondering about the fading in and out of the titles, it may skirt the rule about 4 colors on screen.

Thank you!

Holy hell, this is awesome.  I'm embarrassed I got stuck pretty early but the art and music and controls are all perfect, I love this, thank you!

Really incredible art, music, presentation, and very authentic gameboy feel, this is SO cool.

I totally understand the time crunch, it's incredible how much you did - so many different areas and triggers and dialog system and - just really impressive.

Every part of the game is great, the one thing I'd say is that there's not much interactivity, it's like a fetch quest from a zelda game without the game part.

really impressive, and great concept for a platformer!

This is very cool and hectic, fun to play :)

I had a little trouble telling what was happening and why at times but that doesn't really seem like the point anyway, I love the spooky main character and how it changes as you eat!

I'm in awe of the faux 3d effect, really impressive!

I've never developed in GBStudio but this feels super authentic.  I really liked the writing, made me laugh out loud - "I wonder if there are any badly drawn bats around here."

Well done!

Great!  The presentation is very professional and great lighting effects achieved within the limitations!  Love the death screen especially.

I like the idea, and the code system for recording progress is very smart.  The intro takes a long time and re-loading from a death takes a while and it felt a little too random, like I didn't have enough options for avoiding the monsters.

Impressive!  The art is VERY reminiscent of old game boy games and the music is really authentic sounding too!

Having programmed platformers I know some of these mechanics are really tricky.  Well done.

thank you so much for trying it out! I am still having trouble with text on these very low resolution games, I appreciate the feedback.

huh, works for me, what error message are you getting?  I apologize!
