It is definitely one of the Game Boy games ever made.

I love old school turn-based games! I love all of the pixel art and the enemy characters.

This is lovely and I had fun. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks so much for taking the time to say so!

I this game is great - the pixel art is amazing, the way the theme is included is nice, and it might just be my love of RPGs, but I love the gameplay! I especially like how you can still use moves after running out of power, at the cost of your health. I wish the level design was a bit clearer about where you are supposed to go... exploration can be nice, but a 160x144 screen really limits your visibility. It's easy to miss a checkpoint, and it can be really annoying to be set back like that.

I also have a small complaint not directly related to the game - the web version is too big and, with the normal website scaling, doesn't fit on my screen.

Fantastic job!

Developer

I so appreciate the kind words and the feedback, and I agree completely about the need for improvement in level layout and signposting.  I had a hard time with the resolution on all 3 builds as well...

Nice job!  The graphics are great, the music very nice and dialogue s pretty fun! Love it!

Two nitpicks: I accidentally skipped some dialogue when i just want to accelerate the text to read fast. Would be nice if if just shows the complete text the first time you hit the button and dont skip until you release and press again.

Also, game controller support feels incomplete.

Developer

Thanks for playing it!  I agree, should be able to skip to the end of a dialog and THEN press again to close it, thanks for the tip!  I did not add any gamepad support unfortunately, only keyboard :(

I loved this game! The concept is pretty charming, the graphics were amazing, the music was well-put together, and overall, there's something about it that compels me to progress and play more of it! I even tried to defeat the final boss a couple of times, but ended up failing, and both of those failures felt like it was because I hadn't gotten strong enough yet. I was also hooked in with the introductory cutscene where I was supposed to scare the dad, and because that was the only bit of dialogue required to progress the game, I felt more like the game wanted to speak for itself, rather than hold my hand the whole way through. The many different types of enemies also add to this game's charm and I love it! Fantastic work! :)

oh my gosh thank you so much! I’m really really grateful you put so much time into it and that you took the time to let us know you enjoyed it :)

Love it, great concept, art and catchy music (although it would be nice if there was a little more variation)
I actually played for a while, but it became impossible to beat some enemies, despite healing I was dead before they reached half their health, even with me using the moves they most feared. Other than that though, this is a great entry, one of my highest rated so far, awesome job!

Oh my gosh thank you so much!  Your game really impressed me, I appreciate the kind words!

I agree, I was tweaking the leveling curve and enemy stats right up until the deadline, but it’s still too grindy at the end, thank you for the feedback!  Composing more music was on my list too!

I had a hard time completing this game but I managed to get to the end. Good job, really nice entry!

Visually, it reminds me a lot of old Pokemons and Hearthbound, you did a really nice job with the sprites!

I think the game could be even better if the cost and type of moves were displayed. It also lack of sound feedbacks when you chose an option in menus. However it's really enjoyable as it is, so congrats for your entry !

(I really appreciate the Undertale reference at the end)

Developer

Oh my gosh thank you so much!  I didn’t think anyone would put in the time to reach the ending, that’s awesome :)

I agree the difficulty spike needs managing!  I also wanted move stats and types to display during battle but couldn’t figure out how to fit that much info on screen.  There is a pause menu that shows move details, but its existence is not well communicated :(

SFX were also left on the To Do list unfortunately, you’re absolutely right that those would help.

I did not think ANYONE would get that that was Sans and Papyrus, so glad you got the reference!

Thanks for the comments, really appreciate it.

I liked it from start to finish! I am a sucker for classic turn-based RPGs, and this one ticks all the boxes! Beautiful art, simple yet addictive gameplay, a nice story and a nice spin with the abilities. Well done!

Wow, thank you!!! I know there’s a lot of improvements that could be made but I’m happy with how it came out and SO glad to hear that it clicked with you :)

I really liked the enemy art in combat, they were awesome. Game has a lot of depth for a 10-day jam. Nice job!

I really like the graphics! Nice work.
The text is a little hard to read, but other than that the game is great

Developer

thank you so much for trying it out! I am still having trouble with text on these very low resolution games, I appreciate the feedback.
