A little TOO much like Megaman, but it's a gamejam where you are trying to better your skills and copying one of the greats is a valid way to do that. The game felt good to play and the music fit the game really well. I don't know if it's a bug or if you have limited lives, but one of the times I died, the game never reset. It just stayed on the screen where I died until i quit out of the game.

This game was pretty great! The graphics are really clean and readable, the music is good and the gameplay was fun. A little hard to aim and dodge at the same time, but that's the game. Why is it called Sided?

Why is this so difficult??? I'm usually pretty good at rhythm games, but my fingers feel really dumb right now... the game is cool, very fast and my button presses feel accurate. I'm just bad at this game :( I would have liked a score screen at the end because I can't look at the score while playing or else I lose immediately

This one was a unique game. An interesting idea but I couldn't figure out a good strategy. I died a lot. I assume the platforms are randomly placed because there were a couple of times I got a pattern that seemed impossible to me. But I wasn't very good at the game so who really knows. Other than it being way too hard for me, it was a cool game that would benefit from a better way to control your jumps.

I was never really sure what the other abilities did but it was an interesting game with some funny enemy types. Love the old people in florida and the hot dog vendors in new york. It was a pretty easy game but it's one of the few i've seen credits on so far so I still enjoyed it. Side note: on your itch page, maybe change where it says "Select: change abilities" to "Shift: change abilities"

This game has some real standout stuff. The backgrounds are really good and the music is great. My biggest critique is the controls. It took me a little while to figure out Ctrl was to shoot. That and having space as jump just wasn't what i was expecting for an NES game. There is also a part in the second level where I dropped down to get some collectibles and there wasn't a way back up. Had to jump off and start the stage over. But I liked your game a lot and I can see you spent a good amount of time on this.

This one was a great representation of an early NES game. The graphics are spot on and it's really difficult. I didn't even get past stage 2. And was that Guile at the end of stage 1? Good job.

Thank you! If we keep working on the game after the jam voting is over, we have a good list of fixes 😅 but we really appreciate you playing and for the feedback

Thanks man 😁😁😁 yeah... Balancing was WAY more complicated than we originally thought. When you have 40+ monsters, something like 30 different attacks, weaknesses and resistances, critical hits, stat buffing, etc. It gets away from you really quick. But really appreciate you checking it out

Thank you! I also found that bug with replacing a knocked out party member, but we had to pick and choose the bugs we could fix in time. We had one primary programmer and one of our musicians helped out so we needed more time (like everyone else). Appreciate the comments 😁

I appreciate the explanation at the start of the game but i thought the graphics and music were good and fit the era well. The hit box for the main character was a little too big, but it being difficult is part of it feeling like a retro game so good job.

I like the idea for the game and, while simple, the graphics were good. Making the bumpers take up the whole space would have made it a little more fair since you can kind of ride the middle line the whole time (at least in easy and medium difficulty), but this was a cool entry.

That's awesome 😎 great to see someone get to the end

Did you beat the game???? Yes, we have some issues when you use some items and we couldn't fix it before the jam ended :( Thank you for playing our game and getting so far! And appreciate the feedback :)

That means a lot! Thanks for trying the game and even recording the playthrough. Wish you could have gotten to fight our bosses but we really appreciate the feedback :-)

Thanks a lot! You got really far if they were level 30. We ran out of time before figuring out the item issue but thanks for the feedback :-D

Tried running the game a few times but couldn't figure out how to do it. "pip install" part comes up with an error.

Really appreciate you trying so many times! By the end, the systems were getting hard to manage so we didn't get a chance to work all the bugs out... Thank you for the kind words :-D

aww man, that sucks. we thought we got all the spots you could get stuck. Thanks for checking it out though!

Thanks for checking it out. Yeah, that's an issue we ran into a few times and couldn't completely figure out what the cause was. Hopefully it isn't a widespread bug :(

Very cool! Feels really good to play and the art is great!

hey, I appreciate it! Glad you liked the game and all the weird monsters we made

I like the main character design and the idea. The narrations were too close to each other unless i stood there waiting for them to finish each time. I also ran in to a bug where the enemies moved off the platforms and were floating. The platforming felt good.

Really like the game and itch page looks really nice. I would have preferred to just press the button instead of holding the button to catch the pigs but it's a fun idea. Played level 3 twice before i realized it keeps repeating.

This was really good and very NES to make the reward for killing everything to raise the difficulty. I appreciate the infinite lives otherwise i would not have been able to beat it. Liked the graphics and animation a lot.

I liked this game concept. Just the Zelda dungeons. I think this game would benefit from having the enemies flash and get pushed back a little when you hit them. I'm impressed you made a randomly generated dungeon (at least i think that's what it is) for the jam. Good job

Took me a minute to understand the concept, but once I did it was a fun puzzle game. I assume when you make it outside, that's it? i couldn't figure out a way to get those coins in the grass.

It's a simple but fun game. I think it would be more fun if the difficulty increased sooner and less dramatically. like it slowly gets faster and faster. Also would have loved to see a timer so I could try to beat my score.

The itch page is really impressive. While I don't think the game looks much like an NES game, it's solid albeit very short.

This game was super good! if it wasn't for the infinite lives, i would not have beaten that boss, but it was a fun experience. Great job

Thank you so much! Glad you like it (even though i'm more of a water guy myself)

Is there going to be a discord server for this jam? I haven't participated in a game jam on itch that didn't have one because they are so convenient, so I'm a little curious why there isn't one already.

This was a great, short game. Love the art and that old gameboy feel to it.

I really like the art style here, and the gameplay is pretty fun. Some more mechanics (like a dash or different attacks) would make the game really good (sorry if that's in there and i just didn't get far enough). Overall a fun, polished game.

That was a really fun entry. I think the only reason I got as far as I did is because I figured out that if you hold a direction on WASD and the arrow keys at the same time, you move twice as fast. It was a really interesting idea with a nice simple art style.

The game looks great, but is pretty difficult. I like the narration and sound. Pushing yourself up using the magic felt pretty good but pushing yourself left or right stops suddenly so it's hard to use in game. I'm impressed with what you got done

I liked the song at the start screen but wished the game had some music or sound effects. Since you asked for feedback:

The game would feel a little nicer if holding the space bar didn't constantly make you jump, there were instructions for newly introduced mechanics like holding up to use the ladder, and beating the first level was a little frustrating because your character hits the top of the level on the last jump. Good job on finishing a game in a week!

I think you had some really cool mechanics and a nice atmosphere. I'm impressed with the gameplay you managed to get in 1 week.

All in all, the game is super fun. I love the idea of making everything incredibly small to fit the theme. At first i found the arrow pointing at your character to be a little distracting, but got used to it. Great job

Hey, thanks for checking it out and commenting :)
