I really like the humor when the player dies. Unfortunately I was expecting a bit more from the game. With a title like 'Connecting People' I was envisioning a runner game where multiple people are attached together with a rope and some must be sacrificed. I hope you work on this project further, I'd love to see your true vision of it!
There's a lot going on. Try to keep you game jam games simple. Build off one mechanic that you're very proud of. The nokia resolution is a very limiting factor as this game contains many different art assets which is quite a lot to take in all at once. There is also some sub pixel detail between the HUD elements.
Very cool game, I love the smoothness of the gameplay loop and how you can watch the snake's neck shrink back to a normal size. I think some music would go well with the game and some levels are very hard/impossible to navigate around. Overall, well done! super creative ideas, I'd love to see this developed further.
I thought you had to take the burger/steak off when the timer hit 1, when i saw my score not going up I then thought i had to tap the button either 4/3/2/1 times. Sometimes when I took the item off the stove on 0, my score didn't go up though? Overall, you've made a great game, I love the concept but I found it a little bit confusing at first.
I love the art and animations. The music is great too! Well done.
I was planning on having Q be the speed up timer button so you aren't sat around waiting for potentially 8 seconds. I envisioned the theme of fast and slow being that the crab would sometimes have to wait in places (slow down) and the final crab would be moving the whole time to get to the end (fast)
Great work for your first game on Itch, awesome shader and idea. Unfortunately it's quite obvious that the enemies are capsules. I'd recommend using even the generic unity asset store animations as the shader would hide the detail a game would normally need.
Title screen, pause screen and win screens go a long way as well.
Keep it up man!
Great game! I was trying to find a shoot button to destroy asteroids, a screen with controls would be useful. Awesome that you haven't made it in a standard game engine too!
I really like the colour switching with the slowdown mechanic!!
Some music would be nice as the game seems a bit quiet.
Well done man!
Love the animations and art!!!
The spin on the theme of fast and slow being package delivery is super creative. The speed and jump height changing depending on the number of packages held is great too. The game could do with some sound effects/music.
For your first game jam, you've done a really good job. Keep up the good work man, well done!
Bugs found:
- The second swing level is completable but not in the intended way. - Hint: No "Jumping" is needed
- Player falling velocity is carried over into the next iteration, causing the player to fall through the floor. This requires a restart.
Edit: Bugs have been fixed and a WebGL version of the game has been created and will be uploaded post-jam
