Pretty fun game! It took me a while to notice that my bamboo was overlapping something, once I fixed it I ended with 37500 points. It's quite frantic, and very hard to keep the plants organized with the birds constantly attacking. I think it would be nice if the plants turned red when they're overlapping, and also if the birds took a brief moment before snagging the plants.

Great job!

Really awesome single-room puzzle. Everything worked great, I saved the flower.

I did have the problem where you can't hover the inventory in firefox, but I was able to run it in brave just fine.

Great job!

Really neat idea. I found the best strategy was to just use all four buttons to target the same thing, it felt too hard to control them in different directions, especially with the high damage from enemies.

The infinite wave was very silly and quite hard.

Had fun, great job!

Really fun idea. Each of the damaging plants felt very unique and required thinking about the mechanics in a different way. I particularly liked how the enemies could eat your growing vines, it added a lot of tension to the end of the level. Art and sound were great, everything worked great.

Great job!

204 seconds, so close to 200 :(

A very solid execution of an arcade-style game, I liked the balance of managing the tomatoes, boars and rats. I can see where there is added difficulty if you're trying to go fast.

Really had a fun time, great job!

Very silly premise, I love it. I adore the main character, its animations are fantastic.

Some of the platforming felt really sticky, as if there were invisible blocks in the way, but largely it worked well, and I enjoyed blasting the slugs.

My plant is now free.

Great job!

Enjoyed playing! It took me a bit to figure out the worm projectiles, they have a larger hitbox than the circle it seems. I was able to beat a couple bosses after a few failed attempts.

I was able to buy the multi-shot upgrade, but it was immediately lost entering the next room. It was fun while it lasted :P. I noticed that plant pickups didn't seem to stack, so I think some of the upgrades were impossible to buy.

The art was nice, I kinda liked the 3d floors. I agree that sound would really have elevated the experience.

Great job!

Very awesome for a jam, I'm super impressed how the timing felt really fair the entire time. After I harvested a few coral (had to slam an order with just one to see how it felt - it felt good), I left it running for a while and the orders starting piling off the screen. Had a great time.

Only suggestion would be a victory or failure state, but it was nice that it tracked how many orders I had completed.

Fun little game!

I struggled a bit to figure out the dash, I *think* you're invincible while it's going? It was hard to tell. I opted for speed upgrades instead.

I wrapped up around level 15, at which point I was zooming and one-shotting everything. Pretty fun!

Great job!

Quite fun, it felt pretty nice to control. I got 50 leaves before I tested dying :)

I thought it was interesting that the bubble hitbox was so much larger than the ant hitbox, making it easy to lose the bubble on accident. It would have been nice for the bubble to flash or something to warn that it was about to expire.

I liked the way it controlled, perhaps it would have been fun to add some momentum to the player character to add risk when you commit for a leaf. I also would have been interested in the difficulty ramping up the longer you play (faster birds, more hazards, etc). Basically looking for something to force you into collecting risky leaves.

Overall an enjoyable time, nice job!

Nice job, it seems to work pretty well! I got over 1000 points and then I tried to see if you could hide from the beetles too. No luck :P

I would have preferred less lag on the "un-hide" animation, I found the timing to be VERY tight to be able to shoot the beetles 4 times. Either 1 less shot or less lag on the un-hide animation would have cleaned this up in terms of feel. It would make it easier tho, so you'd have to find a way to increase the challenge.

Overall, great job!

Fun game!

I couldn't really figure out what the score was coming from. I thought it was the bug kills, but it appears to just go up over time. I killed a few of the (creepy) caterpillars, so I feel accomplished. Final score was 80, with a couple thousand mycelium.

Only real issue I had was that the caterpillars don't get slurped into the group by the fungus, but otherwise it worked great!

It would have been nice to see the health of the walls / turrets for that tension of "I'm going to have to replace that wall in a moment", and perhaps a speed up mode would be cool.

Nice job!

Cute game and story, the good end is much better than the bad end :P

Glad I could go back and try again when going for the good end, thanks for that.

Great job!

The wall sliding and wall jumping worked pretty well! It seemed to require a minimum distance, or perhaps some walls were just not climbable, either way, I wasn't able to cheese some of the jumps :P

Quite glad I was allowed to retry the current level instead of being sent back to the start, so thanks for that.

Art and sounds were nice, and I was able to beat the game.

Nice job!

I almost made it to level 10 but oops D: high score of 918!

Very pretty game, works well! Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work on my phone (Android 14, it said unsupported?), and I also tried bluestacks, with no luck (gray screen).

Would love to come back to it and see the cutscenes if you can recommend an android emulator that definitely works.

As for improvements, it would have been nice to have multiple lives, or perhaps a pickup for extra life. Not sure if there are distinct cutscenes to see in later levels.

Glad to hear you found it relaxing, I find the turtles quite frustrating :)

Thanks so much for playing!

We made all of the art from scratch during the jam, so we appreciate you noticing it :)

Thank you for playing!

Thanks so much for playing!

The browser lag thing was a very frustrating item we discovered in the last few hours of the jam. It works better in desktop, but I'm not convinced we didn't do something wrong somewhere.

Speed indeed stronger than turtles.

Gobby appreciates you

We had to re-implement the upgrades relatively close to the deadlines, so we didn't get much balance time on the upgrades. We also played with the speed upgrade for the side-to-side movement, so I think we just needed a little more time to tweak things. It definitely can start to fight against you.

We also did adjust the tiles so you couldn't get stuck going up at high speeds, that was also a thing :P

Thanks so much for playing!

Thanks!

Lovers was definitely an inspiration for this.

I agree the interior of the sub is a bit small to see what's going on. With more time to tweak it I think we could have zoomed in a bit and given the play area more space as well. 48 hours went by fast D:

I collected enough fish for my family :) Nice little game!

I would have liked there to be fish I couldn't reach that I needed the upgrades for, but they definitely did make it easier to move around. Took me a minute to figure out the bad guy, but once I did, it was multiple trips to the ocean for me.

Fun game, great job!

Looks like it came together! Pretty nice that you got the inventory system working to show all the different food. I was indeed able to eat them all and become a well-fed pig.

A victory screen was the only thing missing, great job!

(1 edit)

I thought the character movement controls were interesting, but I couldn't seem to make any of the plants hurt the enemies - nor did there seem to be a failure condition. I did see the grass decaying back toward the tree, but once it reached the tree nothing happened.

Glad to see the art, movement and sounds came together tho!

Those spiders are aggressive! Very well done for a first game. A quick improvement could be to give the trees and rocks collision to make it harder to evade the spiders.

Great job!

Not bad at all! Pretty simple, I did indeed soft-lock myself on first play, but was sustaining nicely on the second attempt.

Those customers are very forgiving on how long they'll wait. I would have liked a little more pressure, to see a countdown timer for the customer, in addition to adding a time for pollination, that would have created some suspense I think.

Also some sort of score just to keep track of how you're doing would have been good.

Great job!

Gobby deserved it, thank you

A silly little game, I particularly liked the slug eating animation. Was quick to learn and play.

Would have liked to see some sort of failure state, and if you don't plant any plants before starting night you can get soft-locked. Otherwise nice!

Great job!

Great sounds and art, I particularly liked the portal art and sounds.

Beat all 15 levels, it seemed like there were plenty of possible solutions, and were starting to get a little tricky.

Great job!

Fun game, works super well. The weeds ate so many of my hedges D:

Works great! The sprites are all nice, and I like that I can turbo-spam the fire button. :P

Cute game, the gameplay loop makes sense. I got through easy, but the snails are invisible on normal! I can see how this could ramp up in difficulty, the light seems particularly tough to deal with.

Great job!

Nice spooky forest vibes, scythe feels pretty good to swing around. After a first try, the queen stole all my hats. Pretty fun to clone and then explode.

Great job!

Awesome game. I love the beehive economy. Once I got the economy up and rolling, I was quite confident and safe wave 10 onward, but it was fun to keep upgrading my stuff.

Some thoughts and bugs:

  • I would have liked a way to replace plants. Once I realized how beehives worked, I had already mis-placed some
  • Bug: You can't click the upgrade buttons if they're under the wave/score UI
  • Once enough things are firing, the sound effects clip each other and get pretty loud. The combo of those two things is a little much
  • It would be nice to know how far through the wave you are
  • If you place a watermelon before anything else you take guaranteed damage, it's too slow. I didn't lose though.

Great job!

Beat the game, the fact that everything was way bigger on the last level was a nice surprise, and it made the flappy leafs far more dangerous.

I wish there were some sound effects on getting hit, but everything seemed to work great! Nice job.

Interesting game. I was expecting the towers to have a little spread on their detection, so that made it super difficult, and very punishing to place them incorrectly.

The sound effects are VERY loud.

Otherwise, the art was good, and it works! Great job!

Very cute game, works great.

Quite slow-paced, I wanted to quickly get to the part where I could make a nice little organized garden, but it takes a while. I suspect that's the point tho.

It would have been nice to have a visual representation of the shop, but it's clearly explained, so no problems.

Great job!

Survived the cow-dragons for quite a while, some thoughts:

  • When you're swinging, you become an active collider and you collide with acorns, which is unintuitive
  • It would be nice if there was some time to the eating animation since the character moves so slow. Not having time to get to acorns across the screen meant I had to sacrifice all but the ones I chose to stand on.
  • There wasn't much escalating pressure, I did let the enemy smack me with their hammer in order to lose.

Very cute design, great job!

Overall not bad, I got my final fantasy fanfare at the end :)

Some thoughts:

  • The timing on damage from the piranha plants was a little off
  • Spamming bullet attack was ridiculously strong, perhaps the bullets could despawn after a short time. I was able to quickly clear the maze by just spamming at the start, so some balance is needed here.
  • The dash going towards the mouse instead of the movement direction wasn't intuitive, since that wasn't listed on the tutorial controls, but I figured it out.

Great job!

Pretty fun game, it gets VERY hectic very quickly. Not sure if there are more enemies than gnomes, I couldn't keep up with the defense fast enough to not get overwhelmed, unsure if there are more tools / enemies.

In general, you can only really support like 5-6 plants around the well, and then you can place some additional plants for bait. If I could water more than one plant at a time, or I didn't have to water fully grown plants, this would be more strategic. As it is, you will eventually not be able to keep up.

I'd suggest some changes to the watering mechanics to make it feel more rewarding to plant away from the well. (since each plant really needs to kill at least like 3 dudes to even out)

The music is VERY loud.
