This is quite fun. Very hard though. I'd love to play a version with the working water shader.
thank you! Since this was our first game project we did not plan enough time for testing but it will al be fixed when ratings end!
I tried playing this a few times but it was impossible for my eyes because of the moving tiny pixelated background. In the fishing mode I couldn't see where my boat was. That being said, the artwork and concept are great. I like the betting and playing against other fishers. I could see this being really fun as a full game!
This is pretty unique and fun! Though this type of game may not be my genre, I can see that this is a pretty fun concept and can be expanded on.
What if you could play it against your friends? 👀
Would be real cool :0
I disagree with other commenters, I like the mechanics a lot and I think this has legs to become a full game. I would argue that maybe a competitive fishing round with AI boats might be more compelling than the better, but I can see that the betting is a very board game way to solve the problem. The boat is a bit difficult to control, especially trying to steer and complete the QTE at the same time. Overall a great project to come out of a jam!
Thanks for your kind words!
The betting system is implemented so that no one player can dominate the lake selection phase and the selection order shifts every day.
It's a really interesnting project, maybe a little difficult, but cool ^^
I think you made the mechanics too complex. But the game is no bad. If you want, you can play my game here: https://itch.io/jam/-pixel-game-jam-2024/rate/2718966
very complex mechanics that could easily be one of those board games you spend hours on with a couple of friends
the game is good except that thing, why the menu just contains the play button there is no quit or credits or settings!
Great work! I think there could be some clarity here and there on what to do, but great job none the less!
Thanks! We hope to implement a better introduction soon.
Well done, I think this could be a board game too.
Great game. Please turn it into a full project. I want it on steam.
idk what was going on but i liked pushing the arrow keys while trying to stay in the middle of the fish swarm that was fun
Strategy-based fishing game is definitely a new one for me. I really like the idea and once I got a bit more of a feel for it, the game becomes quite fun. My biggest problem was just how fast the boat moved and the very short time frame for the fishing keys. It made it really difficult to near impossible for me to hit all three keys before flying past the spot and some of the parts of the lake were really difficult to try to navigate through. But overall the game is quite fun and with more time to add things like a step-by-step tutorial to ease people in would really help the game shine. Well done!
The game is interesting, and that tutorial is very welcomed I crashed in those stones for some times and then moved to the tutorial :))) Maybe with some polish, it can be something very nice. Good job!
The game was fun and I liked the mechanics that were introduced though it was a bit hard to understand what to do at the start.
There were also a few technical issues such as shader not working and resolution being too large for browser export. I assume that you didn't get time to test or were testing with an application so must have missed it.
I think the game has a lot of potential but unfortunately I lost some enjoyment due to some missing polish and clarity. Great job though! It's a lot of mechanics to be implemented by one person in 10 days!
Thank you for your feedback!
Yes you are right. We did not know HTML didnt support certain types of shader code since it was the first game we made. The cover art shows the original shader and waves.
