GREAT voice acting! Fit the game perfectly. The art is nice too, and the thruster animations were a nice touch.

I just didn't learn about the time travel mechanic through gameplay. I had to check the Controls screen to find out what the mechanic was and how to use it, and even then I never managed to get it to work. Maybe the window of 1 second is too short? Or maybe there could be some more obvious sign that the player should "escape their fate", more like a quick-time event? I ended up using the time mechanic more to just slow down enemies rather than escape my fate.

Regardless, this is a well executed bullet hell done in a short amount of time with a unique time mechanic. And including a Settings page that separates music and SFX, as well as a master slider and subtitles option, is almost never seen in GameJams. Over all super awesome game, thanks for sharing!

Ahh yes, reading everyone's comments     I might have underestimated the time needed —    I will have to consider adding a countdown and tweaking up the drift bar ability. Thank you for exploring the settings page!  I was thinking I might not have been speaking as clearly as I had tried to or perhaps the music/sfx wouldn't be to the liking of everyone x).  Much appreciated for your feedback!!

Game as a shoot'em up works pretty good. It doesn't maybe have some awesome graphics but gameplay itself is solid. I like background sound used for the game and the intro sequence (you didn't need to voice act it, yet you did, so respects for that). Shooting sound could be a bit more varied to not seem so repetitive, but that's something really minor and more like QOL stuff.

I would probably have some words about balance and technicality. So first - it feels like main, time reverse mechanic regenerates way too slow for the second stage, where enemies are mostly bullet sponges and which have bullets with big explosion range - I think either they could be less hp heavy or the player would have quicker regeneration there, at least for that stage (I saw that there was some kind of upgrade for the ship, but I really didn't found occassion to take it and not die). I also had a werid glitch, where I technically completed the boss but did get main menu button instead of continue and I had to beat him up again in order to actually play on new area. Lastly, if game will ever grow, I recommend adding something like level selection or saving system, so the player won't need to complete every stage again since they died at the last one.

Overall, you made a great game!

Huge thanks for the feedback! If I do expand, I definitely will try to implement a level select system since I'm not trying to steal quarters x)
I was happy to be able to squeeze in a single weapon power-up last minute (morning of submission hahah)     but in trying to balance it, you definitely would feel  weaker in stage 2 without it.   Thanks for playing and I'll see if I can make this prototype into  a more playable full game

I can't believe how good the game is.
You did that in two weeks. You can be proud of yoursleves.

Overall, epic intro, sweet menu, and then, comes the game.

It starts slow and you ask yourself : "alright, is that all?".

And then they come. Big waves of enemies, interesting attack patterns, your first death and time rewind... And the first boss. It's a classic bullet hell boss, with big HP bar and a few patterns, but still, it's well balanced, all attacks are interesting, you never get bored or overwhelmed.

And then comes the second surprise. There is more. Not just one level. Wtf. And what comes next is even better and challenging. I really loved the second boss, it felt so good fighting it.

Good job, really.

Wow, you're too nice!!!   I'm overjoyed you were able to   find have fun playing my little prototype.   I had a lot of fun making stage 2 , so your comments are super validating. Thank you for the very generous comments and I will use them to motivate me to complete more projects :D

The introduction was really cool and the game was well put together! The time reversal really made it more interesting to play.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you liked the intro as  I'm still trying to improve on the art haha and   I  really did consider adding some more time elements,  but opted instead to try    to keep the main one feel natural  and balanced.

Cool work! I feel it would be great if you can shoot enemies while rewinding time. Like bullet time XD

But overall, nice job.

Thanks for your feedback! I will consider adding some time proof weapons...and now time resumes!

I am just amazed by the Real-time Time Reversal System. The feature provides an edge for the player if he can adapt to the system. Excellent Work Mate :D

This is a fun and challenging game with a pretty cool time rewind feature. The fact that we need to constantly move to dodge enemies while shooting makes the gameplay a lot more exciting. Overall I enjoyed playing it a lot!

Ah, yes, I do like myself a bit of bullet hell! This is a great use of time travel, at first I found it really hard to use effectively, but as your mind adapts to how the projectiles move through time in relation to you it gets more and more intuitive. I personally find it unwieldy that you can't shoot backwards and have to wait for enemies to pass in front if they come from the bottom of the screen, but it does force you to dodge and not instantly spawn kill! Overall great success, I like it!

Developer

Thanks for your comment and I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I will consider adding some more weapon upgrades that possibly allow for that :)

I've tried to play it from the browser but it doesn't work (Firefox), is it a known bug?

Submitted(+1)

I had the same isues

That's unfortunate! I am able to replicate an infinite loading screen in Firefox. For now you can   try downloading one of the desktop builds if you are still willing to give it a try   :)

-Updated-
It appears it was the result of exporting with threads enabled! Which is strange as it should be supported in Firefox, but I have uploaded a second version that should work in Firefox at
https://supersleeper.itch.io/firefox-time-talon.  Cheers :)

Yeah, this works!

I like the gameplay, it's smooth and it has a good variety of enemies (also different spawn patterns that contribute to the overall experience).

Good job!

Great visuals and audio! Also, I'm impressed you implemented a real-time time reverse feature!

It brings me back that arcade games nostalgia :D

Some nice visuals and cool story.

Takes awhile for the game to get started, which is a bit annoying since dying it very easy. Hitting the timing for the revive you basically have to know when you're going to die.

Having either some more checkpoints would be nice, since I wanted to specially fight the boss, or having a more difficult beginning so I didn't have to sit for while basically motionless shooting the same patterns.

The idea for a quick revive is cool, with enough reaction time. Could be expanded upon possibly, very cool game!

Developer

Thanks for your comment! I can fine tune the difficulty to try and keep it engaging for various skill levels if need be - I'd definitely want a challenging bullet-hell that's still approachable :)
