What do you like about your game?
This is my first time participating in a jam and it's probably my "juiciest" and VFX-y game yet. Paired with the retro 8bit sprites I think it helps to make every attack more satisfying - which you'll be doing a lot of in this game.

This game saves your progress.
I am so sorry.
I will now attend a huge event nearby and try to be normal.
300+ kills?? You are a true aberration my friend, congrats!! I can't believe my game is getting this much playtime and I truly appreciate it. Seems like you're enjoying hard mode quite a bit haha
As for the live event, try not to break out into a pose and stay away from any hammers lol
This is your first game... wow Congrats!
Thank you so much! While I have made 2 other games before, it's my first time participating in a jam and working on a tight schedule but I absolutely loved the experience and all the interaction that comes from it.
I love the juice! Havent seen somebody calling, may be it because i didnt play it far
Thanks! The pedestrians have a chance to start calling 911 after about 15 kills but it's still random
Very addicting and fun! Really well polished and great use of post processing to enhance the atmosphere. Great game, great job!
I appreciate it! Thanks for the comment man ⭐
Way too addicting,
I now feel horrible but want to continue playing.
It looks really cool and the sound is also very fitting, good job man.
I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I think all the screaming and spurting sounds really adds to the whole atmosphere lol
Don't feel horrible though, my goal from the start was to make the mass murdering as satisfying as possible actually haha
The art was amazing, music too. sounds too. The game is fun and hard but a little simple.
Thanks for the comment. I definitely focused a lot more on the art and polish before adding more advanced gameplay but it was a conscious decision in the end to prioritize my strengths for the jam.
Your game has a really nice presentation with great graphics, earning 5 stars in that aspect, including the sound effects and music.
In terms of gameplay, I've played many games where enemies require multiple hits to kill them, and it can become quite annoying when the game mechanics don't support this. It would greatly improve the game to either boost the attack speed or reach of the weapon, or simply make it so enemies die in only one hit.
4 stars overall
I'll take it! Gameplay wise, I can definitely see some improvements with more feedback from players now that the game is released, I wish I could've playtested it further before releasing but that's just the reality of a game jam sometimes.
Nice music and pixel art!
Although the delay after finish an attack is kinda hard to ignore
Thank you for the comment, seems like the attack delay did get in the way of fully enjoying it but I appreciate the feedback
Maybe it is just my personal preference but the delay after attacking was so painful it was hard for me to find a flow with the game. An arcade game most importantly should feel good to play, you've accomplished that with the presentation, but the game wanting you to finish kills quickly but simultaneously avoid the cops felt like a balance that was hard for me to enjoy with the feel of the attack. I would love to play this game with a more fluid feel.
That's a valid point that seems to resonate with other people here, I appreciate the feedback and I'll definitely keep it in mind for my next projects :)
really juicy, really crunchy, great sound and feel, love it,im curoius to see what a fully fledged game in this style would look like done by you
Thank you so much for the kind words, it means a lot to me :D
I really liked the juicy effects and the overall art direction, but the gameplay itself got pretty stale pretty quickly. It wasn't bad at all, but just didn't really give you a lot of possibilities. Also I feel the hard mode should've been the default because it's way more engaging. Still, I've enjoyed myself. Really nice submission!
Funny enough the game started as only hard mode, but after a couple of playtests with people not being able to get past 3 kills I thought an easy mode would be a smart addition, especially in a game jam context where people don't usually play it for very long. Either way, thank you for the feedback!
I've always felt that we need more edge in jam games. This was definitely filled to the brim with that, but not in a bad or try-hard way. It was mostly to the point that it was just schlocky fun lol.
None the less, even without that, I think this game's mechanics make for a very solid arcade game.
You can't just strike randomly, you have to be a little deliberate with how you attack to ensure that you don't hit too many people at once, else you can't get them the second time around before they leave the screen
And punishing a player by spawning police officers that bounce around the arena if a person escapes is a good way to incentivise playing strategically.
The presentation is sick ( in a good way ) and honestly felt pretty stylish in general.
Although I felt like the game could've spawned witnesses a little earlier. And that the game could've used a timer to incentivise you to go after another person instead of mostly waiting around. Though I guess the number of days in the score incentivise you to do that.
Honestly, I don't really have any complaints. This is a solid little game
Wow I appreciate the in-depth review, I'm glad to hear the edge is welcome hahah
As for the timer you mentioned, that's actually implemented already! When you return to the main menu you can choose the Hard mode difficulty, where you constantly need to be in a kill state or else you fail.
Dang, time to replay ig
Very juicy, and satisfying art. My one issue would be that I don't like it when the player stops to attack. My suggestion would be some kind of system where you do more damage to people depending on how much momentum you have. But that's just a nitpick, very good game overall.
That's a great suggestion actually! One thing I tried reinforcing was the speed with which you need to kill, especially on hard mode. So the momentum doing more damage could actually be a great fit as well.
Thank you for the comment :)
I love the aesthetic, very clean and stylish, well done!
Appreciate the post! Definitely leaned a lot on the simple but bold visuals in this one
Peak tutorial
Haha thanks, it's pretty short and the point I think
I really like the art, sfx, music and the juice! It really helps set the atmosphere of the game!
I do wish that the player character would be more responsive tho. The full stop when attacking and slow acceleration feels a bit stiff imo, given how fast the npcs move and react to attacks. But that might be just skill issue on my part ;)
Thanks for the feedback :) Also I hear you on the unresponsiveness, seems like an area to improve on for next releases as you weren't the first to mention it
Very beautiful and fun to play as well. I am a big fan of the dramatic text effects like the “kill ‘em all” at the beginning. The artstyle feels very consistent.
Thank you for the comment! Definitely had a lot of fun working with the graphics in this one
super edgy, juicy and very well executed, 5 stars
I appreciate the review! Juice was a top priority while making this game lol
Took me a few failures to start getting the hang of the game loop... But I like how it plays. I enjoyed how tense the risk/reward was on hard difficulty. I love the sounds of the screaming humans and how they run around bleeding out, it's a simple, well-executed concept.
Build-up of blood from people bleeding out is nice. All the animation and sound feels crisp.
Movement freezing for a flash of a second after attacking screwed me over a few times. It's honestly not that frustrating but a bummer when that gets me. I learned how to work around it.
I'm happy to hear all the hours I spent staring at my screen trying to get the blood spillage just right wasn't unnoticed haha!
Seriously though, I really appreciate the feedback and I hear you on the movement freeze, it's definitely something I would like to look into tweaking further with some more playtesting done.
For sure! Best of luck in the jam.
Can become a hard game very fast and it runs pretty well. And it has a simple and cohesive artstyle, liked the CRT effect btw
Thank you for saying that! I tried to stick to a very strict palette to keep with the 8bit look and I must say the visuals are what I'm most proud of in the end.
