Interesting beginning with lots of neat little nods to old school adventure games. I really liked the computer desktop with two folders on it lol Honestly, the AI voice almost sounds appropriate for the adventure humor vibes, but it seems like you yourself could do a better voiceover? Impressive you learned so much in two weeks and managed to set up the story. Best of luck continuing the game, you definitely are on to something here :)

Straight to the point, I love it! This is a pure adventure game and it's executed really well. Shame it was so short, because the story was interesting. Keep up the good work!

I like the concept and art style, and I see potential in the game. In its current state there is not much to say, it creates the foundation of a story, has straightforward puzzles, and is a small demo of the art mechanics, and feel of the game. The character's voice was startling from the silent menu screen, but overall the (what I presume is an AI voice) sounds not too bad. Hope to see more, but you would probably have to remind me to check it out since I am not one to keep track of games lol

Developer

Thanks for reviewing my game last night just watched back the stream :) The first voice indeed was AI and also the second it was not until adding the end voice I realised it was better for the main one but ran out of time.

Really appreciate all the feedback and I'll take them onboard when continuing the game soon.

Well done for learning a system and having something playable at the end, no matter how short. I look forward to seeing more from you!

Developer

Thanks for the review and checking out my game it sure was fun learning everything and I'm also pleased I just made something with a start and an end instead of ditching it all :)

Have the potential for a greater full game.

Nice work!

Congratulations on learning all that game dev stuff in two weeks; this is super impressive! It has the charm of old-school point-and-click games, and I'm intrigued to see where the story goes!

Submitted

Wow, learning all that stuff in two weeks and it looks and plays this well! I love any adventure game where I have to go onto a computer and look around at files and such. The character animation looked cool, and you did a good job capturing a mysterious atmosphere. Following you!

I loved the voiceover and animation! This is pretty cool for your first game jam. Congrats and I hope you continue!

I think it is a very solid first attempt and very promising story telling, so well done. The first thing that I will personally work on is the main character design,  but just because I know it's "Brain" from the AC demo scene and it completely takes me off the setting.

Thanks for the feedback, I think all the graphics etc need an overhaul and more learning from my side and your spot on with Brian, he's everywhere originally he was just a place holder so I can get things hooked up but then I ran out of time to design my own character originally I wanted a younger person.  I'm going to fire up the iPad at the weekend and get sketching again :)

Good stuff! It's a complete game and it worked great. I liked the perspective in the art and the story was intriguing. The puzzles made sense and I liked that you added some items to be used in future chapters.

Kudos for jumping in the jam and learing the engine at the same time. And even finishing it! Everything works flawlessly. (I know I couldn't do that - I always crawl back to the engine I know when the time of a jam comes ^^.)
The story is an interesting start, but I agree with the others: the AI-voice of the protagonist isn't transporting much emotion. I think it would have worked better, if you had spoken the lines yourself. Looking forward to the future additions to this project.

Great start! Was that your voice at the end? It seemed to have worked better than the voice that was used for the main character (it felt a little unnatural)

Developer

Thanks for checking my game out and the nice comments I'm still in disbelief in all these years of wanting to make a game i've actually finished something and now have the bug to do more :) The voice stuff was AI both in game and at the same it wasn't until the final hour of submission when doing the credits scene I realised that should have been the protagonist voice, and there was not enough time to change it all.

I'll check your game out shortly too :)

Checked out the discord and just wanna say congratulations for finishing something! I know how it feels to but stuck jumping from one project to the next without finishing it haha

What you've got there all works well and it's nice that you've got a lot of lines for examining lots of things or trying to combine items.

Is the voice acting AI generated? It sounds real, but the way it extremely literally follows the punctuation makes it seem odd in a few places.

Note you have a layering issue where the character sometimes appears behind the computer screen after the computer is unlocked.

The story is intriguing and makes me want to play more. The voice acting was good - it made it seem more "real" and added to the atmosphere. The two puzzles were short and easy but still quite nice. It's incredible that you managed to both learn and make a playable game in such a short time. Looking forward to playing the completed version. Good job!

Very nice taste of what’s to come!

Watching you learn and make this via the discord was really nice. I’m actually very impressed at what you’ve achieved already, in just two weeks!

Looking forward to seeing more from you!

Thanks for the feedback it means a lot, and I'm super chuffed I actually made something and did not give up :) I played LUCID earlier and wow what a great game really enjoyed that one :)

Great effort! Especially since you were learning everything from scratch. I also used Adventure Creator for my first two games and I know the learning curve is quite steep, so this is pretty impressive for a 2 week jam. Looking forward to seeing more of this game. Nice job!

I also learned to use Adventure Creator during AdvJam (back in 2021), so I know how hard it can be to learn a tool and make a game at the same time in such a short window :D good job!

Developer

Thanks so much for the reply and for checking out my submission, I had a blast with Adventure Creator, and it's super encouraging to see how far you have come since 2021, I've just played your submission, and it's great love the humour, graphics and gameplay.

It gives me some hope as well as it was my first time using Adventure Creator. I personally find visual scripting less intuitive and more difficult to debug than normal coding.

Developer(+1)

I'm with you on that one towards the end of the Jam my project was a bit of a mess and it started to become hard figuring out some bugs were speech text would appear when it shouldn't

Submitted(+1)

I used AC for my AdvJam2021 game and found the same issues. In fact, I since switch to PowerQuest, which I can't recommend enough to people more used to coding than visual scripting. All my subsequent games have been made with it.
