I defeated the Nogre! I think this game would really benefit from a soft tutorial. It is a little too abstract and cryptic at first and I really didn't understand the upgrades other than increasing my health. I did like the mechanic of collecting the runewords. I felt powerful after getting 1 runeword even though I didn't fully understand how the upgrades worked but I could tell they increased my chances of getting hits on the slots. It took me a couple of tries to win. I went into an area that didn't have a mine so I was stuck and chose to die. The next time it happened I discovered I could summon the boss through the alter and that is how I was able to win. A very simple and mysterious game but also fun to play.
I like the aesthetics, the tone color setting is a nice touch and generally like the work put into UI animations. Took a while to figure what I'm supposed to do - although this is probably due to first time playing. Some general direction/guidance would be good. No idea how the combat rolls work so I just auto everything.
Found a minor UI bug when opening info panel just before dying kept it showing
Appreciate the small size download btw. Also mobile builds for the future?
Hey Rokas, I played your game on Sunday evening. I really like the artstyle, and having the option to change colours was a good idea. It was actually pretty clear how to play, with the exception of what the faith does. I also don't think the player avatar looks very faithful, but that's me jugjing a book by its cover. I actually dislike having that much randomness out of my control, so the game is probably not for me. I had turns where I would do no damage for 3 turns in a row, and others where I would deal damage in double digits, even thou the enemy had only 3 health, but that's probably just the type of game you are going for.
Very cool base concept, I love dice rolls. I just want to see more content and sound. I also would not be against an option to have more "standard" graphics, or some kind of number of dots setting. No idea how you do your GFX and if it's even integrable to your workflow.
More standard graphics is a great idea I had not considered. Not going to be easy to add, but it's definitely something I now want in the game eventually. Thanks for playing.
Nice graphics, I really like the minimalist style. Combat didn't seem too tough, since I only took damage if I missed all my rolls, which happened maybe once.
It was a little bit annoying sometimes when I would roll ~15 damage on a 3 health orc, but it was also fun to watch it all rack up on the tougher enemies.
I'm digging the 1bit aesthetic & the palette swaps are very nice! I don't fully get how combat is resolved, but it seems that I'm playing slots but sometimes I get more slots. I got a really lucky roll that did 15 damage to kill the Nogre and I'm not entirely certain how. I'd love to know how it works. Lunacy best faith, lmao@heathens&seekers. Karanos is DOGS.
I ran into a game-breaking bug, I would kill an ogre and then be presented with after-combat menu and I'd make my choice but then it'd stop. I've attached the footage of my playthrough, you can see the bug at about 7:40 and at the end of the recording.
Nice bug find, not sure what the cause is but the video will help me figure it out. The slot machine is pretty simple: if you roll anything - free roll again, If the row fills up - expand.
Also, just finished watching, you did win (by killing the summoned boss), but the game didn't register it for some reason. Will fix, thanks again for playing.
I really like the graphics. Really good stuff. I wish there was music and sound effects. But most of the time I was desecrating corpses for faith. Combat is highly RNG and it's fun with getting new spins. Faith seems to be levels and I got Faith 8 very quickly. Enemies will always only do one damage, and with how faith works, there is no reason to do anything else. Money is useless in this game unless I missed something.
I beat the boss didn't have any other issues/bugs, love the art and look of the game and love the gameplay (reminds me of desktop dungeons). I think it might be to easy because I beat it without really understanding how combat worked or if there was a time limit. Needs some nice music and some sound effects for attacks and exploring.
Stellar visual presentation, and fixed bugs since I last played
I was able to return to an altar to regain buffs, where it seems it was designed as a one time thing.
I gained a Rock power and an Arm power, amongst others, from one altar and then soon enough summoned the last boss, who died in two successful rolls, since any hit that I got would crit and allow for a reroll. I smashed his head in with 13 damage hits.
A situation I noticed is that the same situation would occur with the Ogre units, where I'd keep rolling and rerolling until the screen would fill with hits - but the enemy would only have 3 health. Consider disabling additional rolls if the enemy is surely dead, since I would waste 5-10 seconds watching all the rolls unfold when I know my enemy is dead twice over
I only encountered one enemy type and the boss - maybe I missed out on content by summoning the boss early on.
As stated in the threads, some tooltips would be nice. I think I only performed so well because you explained faith to me and I had previous experience
Final score: Beautiful presentation, excited for more content / 10

I won!

Looking forward to the next demo.

Oh jeeze, I was overthinking it! Anyways, I like it!
