Weapon switching is slow, extremely slow to the point of being deadly. Crosshair seems to be a lower than the actual shooting point. Slashing range feels too short.
The idea is very cool (haven't played Cult vs Gal), and blasting giant holes in enemies with shotgun is pretty fun. Shotgun seems OP in general, but at the same time the level design seems to be intentionally "fuck you" hard, with enemies around both corners.
Cigarette smoking mechanic is cool, as a smoker I appreciate the representation. Needs more ciggies though cuz the level is extremely hard.
And the music is... I don't mind it, but it changes midway to something very different, which is weird.
I hope you keep working on it, it's very promising.
Nice Gal vs Cult clone. I like how the girl in this game needs to smoke cigarettes to heal as per her magical girl contract.
The SFX and music are too loud compared to the voices. Also the enemies are too bullet spongy unless you use the shotgun. I think the shotgun is by far the best weapon right now.
I didn't realize you started with other weapons at first. You should be able to switch weapons using the number keys as well as the mouse wheel. Also there should be a message when you pick up ammo saying what kind of ammo you got. Finally, you should auto-reload if you try to shoot and you have 0 ammo in your clip. Overall I think the game just needs some tweaks and it'll be super fun.
The tutorial is very badly paced. You’re thrown into a meat grinder style room (empty box, immediately surrounded) with enemies while controls still haven’t been explained to you, then on the next rooms nothing happens and you actually need to sit around for the very slow text before you can complete the tutorial. Afterwards, the game wasn’t displaying my mouse on the menu so I could not play the rest of the game.
After restarting I played a little, but it was hard to make it far without any cigs.
Here’s some feedback;
It’s hard to tell when your reload is done.
It’s hard to visualize what your HP is at, maybe the face could change color too. The UI already having various colors distracts from it.
The crosshair should be over enemies; there’s no vertical aiming.
It’s an ok base though so I’ll see it next time around maybe
It was a fun lil shooter but it's definitely in an early stage, going to list some thing that need addressing:
You can interrupt the reload animation with a melee swing and shoot immediately Finishing the reload animation gives you no feedback. The UI doesn't tell you which weapon you have equipped. Enemies have no firing sound. Melee should probably hit on the backswing too, just because it looks like another swipe and it would make it easier to time. All weapons having the same range means that the shotgun is the only one worth using. (By the way, great shotgun, one-shotting two enemies every shot was super fun) You can reach the end of the level without beating the boss or picking up the key, I submit to you my any% speedrun world record:
Pressing space to advance does nothing. Launching the game to get the screenshot above, it spawned me at low health and without cigarettes? Final boss has no death animation:
It took me a while to figure out you could send the eyeball reflection back with a melee attack btw.
For some positives, the shotgun was amazing, the sprites having different death animations depending on the weapons you're using is a fun touch, the portrait on the bottom right is cool but maybe I'd stick with just a doomguy head or simply the phone image, it's a little redundant and doesn't add a ton of information, I totally ignored it during gameplay. Melee being functional made it so I could run at a group of enemies, unload my shotgun and slice the survivors, viable melee is not something you see a lot in boomer shooters so it's a big plus.
I'm guessing this a "tutorial" game to teach yourself Unity, which makes the various bugs understandable. Personally I like any game that gives me projectiles to dodge and a shotgun to blast baddies with, so I had my fun.
Besides the bug of the tutorial level others are mentioning, the game feels sluggish because of the low walking speed, slow reload speed and the camera movement when walking which make point at the enemies kind of annoying, you have to tweak those things otherwise the game doesn't feel right. I almost 100% sure you're taking inspiration on Hazama Queen, so try to copy that walking speed and camera movement and your game will improve a lot. My favorite weapons are the shotgun and the melee knife, specially the melee knife because oneshotting enemies it's fun.
As others have mentioned, completing the tutorial level disables mouse controls on the main menu and you have to exit the game to fix it.
Cigarettes don't reset. After I used them all up on the tutorial I was permanently unable to heal for the rest of the game. This is true even if I exit and restart the application. I used them all up on my first tutorial playthrough so I'm not sure if something is being saved or if it just being set to 0 for whatever reason.
The boxes on the ground don't seem to do anything when I touch them. They didn't heal me or refill my ammo or cigarettes.
Dashing does not feel very good. I think it would make more sense to use the shift key here. The way it quickly tilts the screen makes me a little nauseous.
A lot of the guns kinda suck honestly. I only found the SMG and shotgun worth using. Pistol takes too many hits to kill and has so little ammo. I enjoyed using the katana but it could use a little more range.
I gave it an honest shot but I couldn't get passed the first red door since I'd always get filtered by that one massive room with a metric fuckton of enemies all over. Didn't help that I couldn't heal lol. I'll make sure to give it another try after you update it a bit.
There’s a bunch of game-feel things that make the game more frustrating than it should be:
The crosshair is pretty pointless so far down. Considering there is no verticality you might as well get rid of it entirely
It’s very unclear how accurate weapons are and their range is frustratingly limited, causing you to miss with zero feedback as to why.
Reloading the shotgun has this annoying pause right at the end where it looks like it’s ready but you still have a second to wait. You should always strive to match the animation to the reload time, or at worst, allow the player to shoot before it finishes. Never add an extra delay after without some sort of visual indication that it’s not done yet.
Doors are very strict that you have to smash your face into them to open and then they shut the instant you move away. You really should increase their range if you don’t want enemies to be able to open them, otherwise a crowd can form on the other side that you can’t do anything about without getting hit.
Projectiles are very popular but your movespeed seems too slow to reliably dodge them, especially up close where the enemies have perfect tracking.
This might be asking a lot from Unity but you really need to have your billboards oriented relative to the camera’s orientation at all times.
Your environment textures are about double the resolution of the sprites which isn’t great. I’d recommend saving yourself some time and make them lower res.
I gave it a shot because I do love FPS but this one isn’t really tickling me the right way. The idea sounds fun but the gameplay just isn’t there yet.
I love the art style, it got soul for sure. The game is hard and the weapons seem highly unbalanced. It takes one magazine of SMG ammo to down an angel lady vs one shot of the shotgun. Also I would like an auto reload. I didn't manage to finish the first level but I still had fun.
I hope to see more of your game, I love a good boomer shooter.
Nice voice for the tutorial. In the main game the voice got completely overriden by the music though.
Probably not a good idea to do the tutorial while the player is shooting stuff. Just show the controls on the screen or something.
Also confusing that health doesn't decrease during the tutorial, so I didn't know what my health was.
After doing the tutorial and returning to the menu, my cursor disappeared and I couldn't click any buttons. Might be due to alt-tabbing during the tutorial to write stuff down. Had to restart the game.
Music start is cringe, the drum and bass part is fine though.
Ammo also feels extremely low, and the ammo I picked up didn't seem to do anything, later ones seemd to work. The range of the weapons also seemed quite short. I stopped playing after dying 8 or so times and didn't get very far.
I'm shit at shooters though, so take everything with a grain of salt.

RIROODO
pretty hard. i also had the disappearing mouse cursor on finishing the tutorial
i eventually managed to complete the main level, though you might want to bring it down a notch, it's really tough for being the first level
i love this concept.
Played it for about 20min, some remarks:
