Track description | Creative process
“Soundtrack” for Super Mario Bros. remake... Location: UNDERGROUND...

Since the rules of the jam allow music to be made for a supposed “remake” of Super Mario Bros.... So, uh. I made music for the remake!
I tried to fit into a three-minute soundtrack the entire set of music that should be played in the location remake...

According to my idea, the dungeon is a fast and very “arcadey” location, where the main gameplay is vertical! Mario has to move through small “arenas” with pipes, platforms and a huge pile of enemies that are always marching around!

The closer Mario gets to the underground castle, the more aggressive the music and the more enemies.

(2:00) When Mario finally reaches Princess Peach, who is wrapped in a sheet, he begins his escape... And then a huge army of mushrooms, caterpillars, turtles and rockets come out from all sides! The whole track that follows is a fast-paced escape from the underground....

In the end it turns out that Princess Peach is in another castle, and Mario has saved... A turtle!

The main tone is more dynamic than in the original because it's a remake! A reimagining of this location with a more interesting motif is needed... and that's why I decided to add more dynamics! More arcadey! More monsters! More action and pipes!

Cool tune. Nice buildup

If they made a mario meets pizza tower style remake, this would probably go well in that as the escape the level tune😄. This has that trademark DeltaFox style you manage to get in all your jam tracks, good job!

Your description depicts perfectly the story told by your track, and even if that means not fitting perfectly this jam, it was a pleasure to listen to your music. Good job!

Killer motif with that aggressive surrounding stereo vibe so characteristic of your creations, and with so many things packed up to keep it fresh. The interlude from 1:00 to 1:20 is brilliant. We are suddenly somehow surrounded with happy Nintendo menu textures as if we paused the game but the enemies are still lurking behind the dialog asking for us to go back to the game. And there we go, for every enemy must (happily) die! The human voice at 2:00 is also a fantastic idea, as many other details in the piece. Amazing work.

I love the chaotic feeling you gave to it, this rocks ! Reminds me of some of Elfman's track in some ways.  I really like the evolution of the track, becoming more stressfull as it goes one. Very unique track, well done !

The motif in this is great, I could see this motif used in a modern Mario dungeon/boss fight. I wish the instrumentation you used right at the start was used more throughout the piece, it sounded really funky!

The dynamics of this sounded really good for most of the track, I also like the use of stereo in this. Some parts near the end sounded like they were fighting each other in volume, it made it hard to focus on the actual melody of the piece.

Overall well done, you did a good job crafting an idea that fits the theme when the original is so iconic!

Love the way you view the piece inside the game as you describe in the submission, nice work!

I remember hearing this in discord, such a cool listen! So much going on and the instruments and percussion are constantly changing to keep it fresh. This nails the vibe of a more aggressive version of the original underground level (which matches your writeup). In that last intense section, I can imagine Bowser throwing every minion and weapon he has towards Mario. Great work!

You told an entire story with your song. I was feeling tense as it got closer to the 2 minute mark. I'm a little upset I did all that work to rescue Peach just to end up with a pet turtle lol!

Heh...

This is only the second level! Don't worry!

...then you'll storm the castle and flood the canyons

This is really cool!!! Reminds me a lot of terraria actually, and i can totally imagine the style that this could fit in. My only real complaint is that I wish that the melody was a bit louder especially when the marimba instrument is the main focus. I actually dont mind the repetitiveness of this, because you develop it pretty well and make it interesting to listen every time with the different instruments and aggressive backing to it. Good stuff!!!

Very unique, well I would say all your stuff you did in the past is also pretty much different from everybody you already crafted your own sound. This is very intense.  The sound in the first 7 seconds is the most unique one and you didn't reused it :( . But overall pretty nice, sounds good.
