THE GOOD PARTS

  • A straightforward, easy-to-understand game. Tap the screen, shoot the rocket, and hit the targets. It doesn’t get any simpler than that and the minimalistic controls make it perfect for a mobile experience (which is obviously what the designer had in mind when creating this game).

  • It’s actually fun to play. I see myself playing this while riding the bus, the metro, or while waiting for Unity to recompile the scripts!

THE BAD PARTS

I want to clarify that the “BAD PARTS” section of this review is going to be filled mostly with suggestions on what I, personally, think would improve this game’s objective (which seems to be to become a hyper-casual game that you can play during a commute or while waiting for something else to happen).

  • It requires too much attention. For a hyper-casual game, I think the attention requirement should be lowered; this can be achieved relatively easily by just giving the rocket a laser on its tip that allows you to see where it will land if you tap at that moment. I found myself trying to measure and guess where would the rocket would land if I tapped it at that moment and I can’t see myself doing that without having to get the phone somewhat closer to my face or having to ignore my surroundings because I don’t want to break my 30 hit streak.

  • Maybe some more juice?. I think the game could use some improvements on its game feel because some actions (particularly going off the screen) feel somewhat bland. The same thing can be said of the newly-spawned targets and some other minor game interactions.

CONCLUSION

I think there’s a lot of potential here. Maybe a time rush mode where you have 30 seconds to hit targets and try to break the record? Maybe some static levels where you have to traverse the rocket from point A to point B dodging obstacles?

I’m sure that with some extra brainstorming the game designer would be able to make a full hyper-casual game out of this. Let me know when you do because I’m eager to play some more Cloop!

Developer

Thanks for all the feedback

I will definitely think hard about all the points.

Again, thank you very much.

Nicely done! Perfect game for mobile and quite addicting :)

Developer

Thanks for playing.

This one really feels like a finished, polished product.  The only suggestion I could give is to tone down bloom for the game over screen in order to make the text more visible.
Great work!

Developer(+1)

Got it, I’ll make that adjustment. Others have already mentioned this issue, so it’s a good point. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for playing.

Nice little mobile game that I enjoyed playing. I wonder what it would be like if the ball could wrap around the screen once or twice before being considered out?

Developer

Got it, that’s a good point. I will test this mechanic to be able to add or not. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for playing.

Fun little game. The music and sound effects really add to the relaxing atmosphere

Developer

That was exactly the feeling I wanted to pass, thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for playing.

This game feels really well polished! The post-processing and calm soundeffects with the soothing music make it SOOO good! If you added powerups such as slow-motion, checkpoints, etc, you could get a really good game to waste time on! Maybe some camera shake could fit in really well! :D

Developer(+1)

I like the idea of power-ups, I will test the possibility of adding this to the game. And the camera shake I will definitely add. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for playing.

Good & simple mechanic. It looks easy - but there is always a  round < 10 where I just miss - no matter how hard I try to stay focussed.

Developer

Thanks for playing.

Maybe some speed up function, otherwise your waiting so much? Furthermore, maybe tune the spinning to the music tempo?

Developer(+1)

Wow, I liked the idea of spinning and music tempo. About the speed, the game already has it, maybe the progression is too slow. I will check this further.

Thanks for playing.

Interesting idea! I'm not sure what I was doing wrong, since I could only get about 5 levels in at most. I couldn't figure out why the game would fail me. Sometimes I would fail while the ball was on the way to the next cog.

Keep making games!

Developer(+1)

Can you tell me what your browser and screen resolution is? Maybe it’s something about it.

Submitted

I was using chrome in a laptop resolution, so 1900 x 1200.

Really Really cool mobile type game. I would honestly play this game on my phone. (Perfect bathroom break game lol)

So simple yet good. The only thing was the white seemed to be super bright or a little to glowing for me. I had a hard time being able to read the menu.

Really cool!

Developer(+1)

That is true. I tested the game several times while commuting to and from work.

Thanks for playing.

A solid simple mobile game :)

The core gameplay idea is sweet. My current highscore is 24. The only criticism I have is, that the next circles were often spawning in inconvinient spots, were you had to rotate almost 360 degrees, until you could shoot it. If that happened too often in a row, which often was the case, it made the gameplay overly slow at some points.

The music had a nice touch, and fed the game with a lot of ambience. Though, in my opinion it did sound a little repetitive and unfittingly dramatic and melancholic. The latter might be intentional though, It'd be a legitimate design decision.

Developer

I understood. I’ll think of something to solve this problem.

Thanks about the suggestions.

I love the aesthetic an the general vibe of the game. There was an old episode of Star Trek TNG where the crew got addicted to a chill video game and I feel like this would be that game.

Not much I can give in the way of feedback. Maybe another mechanic like some obstacles or something? Maybe there are later, I only got up to 21.

Overall solid, polished and interesting game. Well done!

Developer

Thanks, I liked the idea of obstacles.

I really enjoyed this one! I could see myself playing this for a long time with some more mechanics and levels introduced. Maybe a hit mobile game in the making?

Developer

Thanks. I hope this happens.

Submitted(+1)

Cool game, some more sound effects and screen shake would make things a little better, overall great job :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks. I gonna implement all of that, thanks the ideas.

Submitted(+1)

Really nice, I like it. Simple machanics, but still catchy. I also like the artstyle - it comes together pretty smoothly.

However, it would be nice to introduce (even a simple) mechanic after a while or find something else to increase the difficulty.

Developer

Thanks for playing.

I agree with you, at the moment it’s just changing the size and distance of the targets, I’ll add other things from the feedbacks.

Submitted(+2)

Wow, this is a gem in this jam, Nice entry! I remember playing a similar games when I was young!

+1 to Bidl comment: adding gravity to the targets will be nice, Also I think something like a "placeholder" dotted path showing where will you go would be a nice add.

Really like the post processing here!

Developer

I’m gonna add gravity to the target, I really liked the idea. About “placeholder” it’s a good suggestion, I gonna make some test to implement that.

Submitted(+2)

add gravity and a floating target to shoot at

Developer (1 edit)

Yes, I really liked the suggestion.

Submitted(+2)

Cool game.

Thanks.
