How does your game fit the theme?
Well Diver is a dungeon diving puzzle solver set on a drowning world. The player must dive into the world well each day to solve puzzles in order to prevent the world from drowning completely.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
My dev partner and I created every asset used in this game except the water sound effect used in the dungeon levels. I did created the game in Unity, used Aseprite to create the pixel art, and Garageband for the music. The water sound effect was found on freesound.org and listed under the creative commons license, created by Nox_Sound.

Very fun game. Congrats on finishing it on time!

Developer

Thanks very much!

Pretty nice! I liked the idea and the first puzzle was kinda cool!

Developer

Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing. :)

Good music, I like the animations too, it looks polished.

I didn't find the character too slow. The puzzles are confusing, they can be more clear.

Developer

Thanks for playing! The pixel art is definitely the most polished thing about this game. :) Still needs lots of development but I did what I could during the jam.

The character was extremely slow. I liked the game, but I really wish the player was faster.

Developer

I've seen a few other people post the same thing. I think there's an error in my movement script that, even while it's frame rate independent, is causing slowness in some devices. I'll have to figure it out. Thanks for playing, and glad you liked it despite the bug!

GThe first puzzle was confusing and I didn't like how slow the character felt. For the maze, I think I was stuck in the first one, because I couldn't find a way to the button, it was closed, and the character feeling slow didn't help.

Despite that, the art in this game is really good, a lot of great animations.

Developer

Some other people have mentioned slowness on the character--if you can send me a screen video of it I'd love to see what you mean, because on all the devices I've tested on, it feels right. It may be a math error in the programming that I need to figure out. Thanks for playing!

I was going to make a post about how the first puzzle was cool but needed a bit of explaining. And how you get stuck on walls so easy. but Pryankster did that for me. Lol. I would love to see this more fleshed out and made into a more of a game with like power ups or bonuses or something for doing each level and reasons to leave the well.

Developer

Thank you! Still a lot of issues to work through with this one but I think it turned out well for the work I was able to do during the jam. I have a lot of plans I want to implement with this game like power ups and items and NPCs. I am planning to release it as a portfolio game when it's done, so feel free to keep an eye out.

keep going on this -- the first puzzle needs some explanation, and alternating puzzles with the mazes would be pretty cool.  Also,  the character really gets stuck on the maze walls.  try setting a Physics2D material to 0 friction for the walls, it should improve playability 100%!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I appreciate the feedback.

The first puzzle was bit confusing and the other mazes were repetitive and at some point I got stuck. Overall good submission

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Nice little game here with a good take on the submission got past the first puzzle but had a problem on the second. Music and art was great and everything fit together to make a nice submission well done

Developer

Thank you! Yes, the second level needs work still, as do the rest afterward, and I'm going to be developing a much more sophisticated maze generator and more detailed puzzles. Thanks for playing!

the music is great, good work there! Gameplay was smooth and looked good too, nice one!

Developer

Thank you! I appreciate it. :)

It is fun and has a lot of potential. I knew that there was more to the boxes teleporting back because the one box stayed on the pressure plate so i knew it was a puzzle. Great job.

Developer

Thank you very much! Did you solve the puzzle?

Submitted

Yes I solved it. I thought that it was really creative.

You guys killed it with the art and music! its consistent and the animation is fluid! although, idk if im just dumb or not, but i don't think there's a way to get past the 2nd maze level. But i really like the game's concept. Good job!

Developer(+1)

The second level of the well is still buggy unfortunately. I only had time to put together a basic procedural generator and it's not perfect, but I'm going to continue developing it. Thanks for playing!

Really good art! Nice colour palette and well animated :)

I wasn't able to figure out the first level, the boxes kept teleporting back to their starting positions after I pushed them on to the buttons. Maybe I was missing something?

Developer

Thanks for playing! Keep trying--there may be some small details you're missing that you need in order to solve the puzzle. ;)

Ah silly me, I came back and figured it out. Thanks!

Developer

nice work!

hey One thing I had to say, that is the pixel character  animation was really good. And I loved the first and second level after that it become repetitive and I was keep stucking in those walls..although the over all game was really great

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yes, all I had time for this week was to build the procedural maze generator. I plan to build a lot more levels in greater detail as I develop the game. I appreciate the comments!

Submitted(+1)

really cool game and logo design I really like the pixel art. 5/5

Suggestion: i think it would be cooler if the maze/puzzle had specific amount of distance the player can see because being able to see the entire map makes it quite easy. And it would be a nice polishing touch.

Developer

thanks for the suggestion! I am planning to expand the well levels in much greater detail but didn't have enough time during the jam.

Hello fellow well diver! ;) Fun to see someone with the same game name have a whole different concept! Game was pretty straight forward. Was clear what i had to do

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking out the game! I saw your submission last night and played it this morning. So fun to see this idea executed in another direction. Glad you found my game and thanks for playing. :)
