Losing control over a lucid dream. The gameplay starts with exploration and curiosity, then devolves into madness.

Great job on this one! The sound and visuals work so well, and some of the enemies were genuinely unsettling. My only wish for this would be a more consistent camera. Overall, awesome submission. Deserves more ratings for sure.

Well done with the mood! The art, lighting, shadows and music work great. It's cool that there's so many different enemy types. No criticism comes to mind.

I like the aesthetic and the gameplay. It gives a darkwood vibe.

Cool art! I wasn't sure if I was attacking the crawlies that were following me. The attacks don't seem to have any effect on them.  Also, I kept getting stuck in certain areas. I couldn't differentiate walls and open spaces.

Sounds are amazing. The atmosphere is creepy with all the creaking sounds. My favourite, creepy monster is the face. They will haunt me when I sleep D:

The audio gives just the right amount of tension, and I felt that the gameplay mechanics are also unique!

Nice game. The art is great. It is possible to leave the map by going all the way left from the start.

The atmosphere is really good. The tension from the blocking of vision is good. It is fun

Great atmosphere and sound design! I really liked that the starting room has pattern in shape of one of the enemies. Only things to complaint about are weird behaving camera and it isn't clear if you charged your attack or not.

Developer(+1)

I'll give the camera some better lerp speeds and tweaks in the next update, i had it prioritize where your mouse is rather than where the player is - sorry about that!  As for the charged attack, I'll add in a hit reticle when i can to indicate charge of the attack and an interruption animation for when you are attacked while charging.  I hope that addresses everything!

Good work!

I'm TOO easy to scare, and playing this in around 4 AM didn't help :D Enemy variety is smart, I really like it. Couple of issues I had were already adressed by you, so there's no need to worry. I'd say "I wish there were some music" but  the player can understand what type of monster is coming their way by their sounds, so no complaints from that too.

Quick question: Do the invisible ones try to dodge the player when they get close? They seem to do that, or I'm way too sleepy to calculate their position! :D

Great entry overall. Making everything from scratch is no easy feat! Kudos!

Thankyou for playing my game!  Music does play, but only as you get injured / lose sanity - until then its just ambience to help reinforce the jam's theme.  As for the invisible fellas, They have a very unique interaction with light sources - they actually receive hitstun as you shed light on them, and they hide their footstep hurt boxes underneath the player when they get to your position.  I think I make more unique sfx for taking damage will make this more clear in the future.

The sound design is spectacular! I think it's one of the most important parts of a good spook and you nailed it :)

Thankyou!  I live out in the country side, so I had plenty of animal sounds to work with.

Very cool visuals. Made me feel more punk than I am irl

Thanks! I tried making the main character a mix between someone from Hotline Miami and a Ghostbuster.

Had a good time playing. On my second attempt I made it to like 4.5 minutes before I was absolutely swarmed and ran out of batteries.
Sound design for the enemies was great. They all were distinct to where I knew what was coming just by sound , and the bongo-like sound for the white steps is just very cool.
Wish the camera was slightly snappier. Walking in any direction for 2s had me at the very bounds of the screen to where I'd have to stop and wait for it to catch up. Overall very cool horror take on this jam. Nice job!

Developer

Thankyou for the kind words!  I'll tweak the lerp of the camera to snap to the player faster, i was worried about it messing with the player's aim but I think I overcompensated and made it to slow to keep up.

Nice game and cool graphics. Found hit a little has to understar where I was hitting.

It's fun to play, (I got to around 450 in the score) and there is a lot of potential! Its not clear to me how this fits with the theme exactly, only that the game gets harder the lower you sanity is. It is a bit difficult to navigate the map, I would often see some items but it would be on the other side of a wall and I would often not find a way in. But other than that the monster diversity is great, the sounds were nice, the lighting with the dynamic shadows were really well done, the lighting really popped out to me when I got into the kitchen area where the table is flipped over. The Art is also amazing, WELL DONE!

Thankyou very much!  We were trying to replicate the feeling of a lucid dream progressively turning into a nightmare - if we had more time, I think more calm, maybe even relaxing segments would be added to the game.

[One post submission bug fix was made to stop audio from overlapping horrendously under rare circumstances].

Sorry - and thankyou for your patience.  This deadline was tight and I couldn't take care of until a few minutes after the jam period.
