The game is actually quite difficult but nonetheless, very interesting intrepretation of REWIND. Many submissions here, mine included, considered it as a time aspect so your submission is one of the more unique innovations of it.

I will say the game was quite mediocore for me - however maybe the gameplay just didn't stick with me. But there are many things to love about this game. I absolutely love the amount of polish you add to this game. The art direction was very concrete in this game and it shows within the spritework - amazing!

The physics was something I battle with and I occasionally find infuriating - especially when after collecting all that coin, just to lose it all from one single spike or one worm bite as I struggle just trying to get little Steve back to safety.

Otherwise - cool game. It didn't stick with me but that was maybe cause it wasn't my kind of game.

Thanks! I agree with you on all your points I think. The physics of the rope I was never happy with, it felt too elastic which made it too hard to control. That was mainly because of the limitations of the joint system in Godot, and I didn't have time to investigate way to improve it. Basically the rope is always the same length and just raised/lowered off the top of the screen. Ideally I would remove/add sections to the rope which would mean when the rope was short it would feel more responsive (since each segment has an elasticity value, the more segments there are the more that elasticity adds up).

I also think the core gameplay loop could be improved, like you said it is quite unforgiving especially when you have limtied control over Steve. The coins were meant to be a buffer against damage but adding them as a component of the scoring mechanic suggested that it was optimal to completely avoid damage which is impractical. I certainly learned lessons about game design from making this game!

Thanks again for playing and for you feedback, it means a lot!

This is an extremely polished game. I loved the humor in it as well.
Playing around with the chain/rope physics was a joy.  I had to restart the game and select the controls, however.

I may have missed the initial selection screen?

The mechanic itself was very interesting. Good job!

Really nice. It's fun and interesting, i like the presentation and the humor. I don't like the fact that you have to manually choose the controls before playing without getting told to do so (maybe I missed something, this is how it looked to me) but this is the only issue, it's very good in everything else

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You should have seen a control selection screen after hitting Play for the first time, if you missed that it might be a bug or the screen switched too early. Seems like you figured it out OK otherwise!

Really awesome idea! It took me a while to figure out how the controls worked but afterwards it was awesome! A little difficult at first, but I'm probably just bad. Really nice art, and great mechanics. Your menus were also super well done, I love seeing that! Great job, I'd appreciate it if you could check out my game too!

Great game! This was a really interesting take on the theme. I did encounter one bug where clicking before the dialogue saying that Steve has died on a game over causes the game to freeze.

Not only a great take on the theme, but a very spot on execution. The graphics are well made, the game has great humor and the tutorial explains well the basic, which are dun and are well expanded . I only ran in a small issue in the last level, i couldn't get Steve to do that jump at the beginning

The sounds and images mesh together incredibly. Even though this may look familiar, the gimmick is unique enough to make it stand out! It looks like there's enough turn this into a full release with story/upgrades and all! The coin mechanic is interesting as it allows a careful player to maximize points while a casual one can focus on finishing the level alive. Really nice how there's a level select that tracks that score as well as time!

Very well done!! I love the art style and even though there is only 5 levels they are quite polished!

Fantastic game. Best so far. A real must play of the jam. Well done. The dialog had me in stitches. Really funny. The man with a hat was so good.

Interesting take on the theme and funny setup.

I really like how you interpreted the theme as unwinding and rewinding the rope, it makes for very fun and frantic levels as you try to prevent Steve from being eaten by giant worms. I thought that the game was a little unforgiving at times, specifically when Steve gets hit by spikes at the end of their animation, but I still greatly enjoyed the game nonetheless. I also ran into a small problem where the game froze after each time I died, but that didn't stop me from beating all 5 levels. Overall great game!

Remember seeing this on Twitter during the jam, super happy to have found it here! Really loved your interpretation of the theme, and very fun to play! Maybe a little difficult to direct Steve when he's hanging in midair but overall the game was great and I liked the humour you added in the beginning!
